Sue’s panties gave her so much woe -
She suffered from dire ‘camel toe’
But with help from soft plastic
Her new outline’s fantastic
It’s discrete and no one would know!

Premium Member Blackbird In September

In dream lone blackbird sits on telephone line,
pleading, what more do I have to give.

Wing once beat out a metronome in time..
leaving thoughts lost through a sieve.

I swore to rebuild our earthen dam,
and hold the waters at bay.

Your dream found a different plan,
left nothing more to say.

Race, now long finished, deemed total loss..,
left my prideful soul entreating.

Waste heart's song diminished, too high the cost,
ask why the day so fleeting.

Last candle's light gleamed in his glowering gaze,
Write journal'd fate, no answer would he belie,

September's temper teamed in shortened days,
to kiss late remember'd lips good-bye.

Me, my brother Tom and Uncle Pat were on a fishing holiday
three men in a rowing boat way out in Dublin Bay
we anchored up and cast six rods over a sunken wreck
hoping for the catch of our lives to haul onto the deck
hours passed with the floats just bobbing up and down
Tom fell asleep and Pat sat watching with a frown
a ferry passed by and the swell nearly made us capsize
as I held onto the sides Pat stood there with staring eyes
his float had gone and the rod had bent double
I woke Tom up and told him we were in trouble
Pat grabbed the rod and with all the strength he had
he struck the line which went straight down, oh man this was bad
the boat began to list quite far and water was gushing in
we started bailing out, but Pat held firm he stood there with a grin
he had a bite that was pulling hard the line shot under the keel
only one fish had the strength for this, it was a giant conger eel
Tom rummaged through the tackle and handed Pat a knife
we shouted ‘cut the line’ or this fish could take a life
but he heaved and reeled then shouted ‘get the gaff’
we saw his head and great big teeth and said ‘you’re having a laugh’
Tom grabbed an oar and whacked it’s head, the oar it broke in two
Pat’s foot was in the firing line and the eel snapped at his shoe
the eel it thrashed; we kicked and lashed the eel half out the boat
but the eel was having none of it and was going for Pat’s throat
the screams were heard by other boats who came to our rescue
the next we knew the eel was dead killed by god knows who?
a harpoon in it’s head stuck out and we were showered in blood
Pat saw blood gushing from his foot, then fell with a sickening thud
we climbed aboard the other boat, the eel it was their prize
we lost our boat and rods, half a shoe plus two toes, It’s the truth, I tell no lies….

Premium Member One Tolkien Over the Line

He was a writer, a fighter, an old-timer word rhymer
Always thought free verse was asinine
He was the queerest, the dearest, the tear in your beer-est
and he was one Tolkien over the line

He was archaic, prosaic, euphoric, historic
Made pentagrams optically divine
He was the cheekiest, geekiest, and uniquely freakiest
and he was one Tolkien over the line

He loved cigars and Star Wars, guitars, and sitars
Collages made his artistry torch shine
He was the jivest, high-fivest, young poet alive-est
and he was one Tolkien over the line

It's not much reward to those who are bored
but are afraid of not acting benign
Sometimes you gotta get riled, and go a bit wild
and step one Tolkien over the line

STAND BY ME

Oh my darling the news is so bleak
I saw the consultant only last week
Think we better start making plans
See the vicar; hear the wedding banns

All I’ve ever wanted was to be your wife
For better for worse, through trouble and strife
The consultant confirmed I’ll not last the year
Oh kiss me my darling; just hold me so near

Wedding plans float around in my head
My dying wish is that we should wed
Time is running out so we mustn’t linger
I want your wedding ring upon my finger

A simple ceremony, just as quiet as can be
All I ask my darling is that you stand by me

SIDE BY SIDE

All I ask my darling is that you stand by me
My life is slowly ebbing away you see
We always dreamed that one day we’d wed
I don’t have long on this earth, and soon I’ll be dead

I know our hasty wedding is not the way we planned
Having spoken to the vicar, I know he understands
We talked about our future, but now our plans must change
Today we’ll be declared man and wife with gold rings exchanged

We had so many plans of how our lives would be
Sadly god has a very different plan for me
Tears flow down our cheeks, as we become man and wife
I will love you my darling for the rest of my life

My dying wish was to be your bride
Now I can face my fate with you close by my side

Original Poem - Dreams Still Grow

Once I felt the warmth of balmy spring...
breathed deep the scent of blossoms, fresh and pure...
I thrilled to sounds of songbirds in the air,
while sprouting blades of tender grass appeared.
Upon the dew, my seeds of hope were cast...
and dreams grew in the magic fling of spring.

Then later came the cold of winter's snow...
the scent of blossoms turned to musty dust.
Chant of restless wind soon filled my ears...
green tender grass, long grown, had gone to seed.

Still hopes lay buried deep in icy frost...
and bright, new dreams emerged to grow in snow.

New Poem - Dreams Have Grown

And bright, new dreams emerged to grow in snow,
for winter days are numbers on a page.
If body bends and mind is still aglow,
no reason to lay dormant neath the frost.
New hours, new days, new months to fulfill dreams;
continue on, each one a precious gift.

And winter is no time to dwell on death,
when life still sparks in every newborn morn.
So much to see, so much to do until
the time has come to know when done is done.

My hopes seemed buried deep in icy frost,
but bright new dreams have thrived in winter snow.

Ring On My Line - The Golden Era of Doo Wop, Retro Revival

Before diving into the time machine for a nostalgic trip on my music video ‘Ring On My Line’ above, I invite you to read my preamble Sonnet below.

Ring On My Line -The Golden Era of Doo Wop, Retro Revival

If you've ever waited for a call that never came, ‘Ring On My Line’ will hit close to home. Take a trip back in time—no matter your age—into the golden era of Doo Wop and the boppy, haunting rhythms of the ‘50s and ‘60s.

This song captures the bittersweet romance of waiting by the phone, heart pounding with hope, wondering if that special someone will call. It’s a love story, where jukebox tunes filled the air, diners were the place to be, and every unanswered ring told a tale of longing.

So grab an ice-cream soda, turn up the volume, grab your partner, let nostalgia take over, and dance to the retro Doo Wop beat, you’ll enjoy it..

Note: You can also follow the lyrics by clicking on the CC (closed caption) on the video itself above our on my YouTube Channel

Beneath the silver hush of midnight’s sigh,
the quiet stars refuse to blink her name
Moon - You vigilant observer from above
Your indifference lingers just the same.

A drum with a hollow sound, my beating heart
each second stretched, each ring less second cold.
I strain to hear her verse, but none are found,
in the quietude of a glimmer not made whole.

Hope strains a fragile thread, pulled tight,
will love return, or do I wait in vain?
Time elongates the qualms I feel inside
Motionless yet its silence sparks my pain.
Oh, ringtone, let mercy find my ears,
or let me waft in love’s fickle fears.

Premium Member The Line of a Delicate Being

I walk the line of a delicate being
careful to not make a misstep and fall
Though I am fragile, my strength underwrites me
and I am able to withstand it all

I can be nothing that I think I can’t be
so I decided that I can be me
And now I find that my life has true meaning
and life allows me to stand tall and free

Though I can not claim a profile in courage
I find a way to go on unafraid
Sometimes, I wonder when I’m feeling beaten
how I can do it, it’s just how I’m made

In my reflection, I like what I’m seeing
though it took time to erase many tears
I walk the line of a delicate being
yet one who’s lived and survived many years

Premium Member Social Distancing During a Pandemic Or Get Behind the Orange Line

No I'm not kidding , believe what I say.
Step behind the orange line and behind it you stay.
Yes, I'll scan your items from six feet away
but stay behind the orange line until its time to pay.

It's not rocket science, there's a pandemic, its real.
You may not believe it , but respect how we feel.
Stay six feet back and yes its a big deal.
We say it continuously , our mantra , our spiel.

Some of you get it and some are just dense.
Some get indignant and really take offense.
But the lines and the barriers to us just make sense.
When you get too close can't you see that we're tense.

Those lines were put there for a reason you see
and it might stay this way for one season or three.
So listen , dear customer, listen to me.
Get behind the orange line or no sale will there be.

Mirrors seize and free; joys and fears; wherefore,
lost toss and turns while hope waits for morning,
gullible holds keys, knowledge opens door,

Faults are the measures by those that implore,

mirrors seize and free; joys and fears; wherefore,

The ins and outs of worth; toiling, --encore,
a failed piece that favors one who's holding,
gullible holds keys, knowledge opens door,

Past pools plus and minus the ID's score,
super balanced the pendulums swaying,
mirrors seize and free; joys and fears; wherefore,

Life game's unwinnable; Ace--Royal wars,

gullible holds keys, knowledge opens door.

The Rabbit and the Fox 20 Line Ballad

~~ The Rabbit and the Fox ~~ 20 line Ballad
The Rabbit and the Fox
The Rabbit and the Fox are here
go down south, to Australia
They have a bounty on the Fox
Bring in his skin they’ll pay ya

Myxameatosis germ warfare (first ever)
Just for the Bagman's bunny (our ww1 war crazed soldiers lived on rabbit in solitude)
Old Rabbit got mattry eyed
It really wasn’t funny

Great depression in the 20s
We lived on lovely rabbit
skins made the Slouch hat
Our soldiers wear, our habit (fur felt made the hat)

The master took the Rabbit (Squatters said plague)
No more free feeds for us
So we started eating of his sheep
Become a bit nonplussed

They brought another virus out
To kill off outlaw rabbit
But bunny still gets about
The Fox your hens will have it

I hate it that you don't like what I write
You'd think at least one time I'd get it right
I get first place with others, never you
Won't join another one, that's what I will do

Consistently put down, oh what a drain!
I find your selectivity a pain!
Most others think my writes are pretty cool
But when I write for you, I'm just a fool

Well, here's to let you know that I am done
Cause entering your contests sure ain't fun
I squeeze my brain in hopes to win your smile
But I get tossed right out on rubbish pile

I'll gloat and savor every winning place
From one to three are ones that light my face
From 4 on down, you freaking kidding me????
Dear contest sponsor, you are HISTORY!

Dear contest sponsor, you are HISTORY!
I bet you wonder at this mystery
You think you've judged me fair, and that's my place
I'm glad that you can't see my "murder" face!

I'll let you off the hook; here's one more chance
The genre I like the most is sweet romance
So, let me gush and flow and write a storm
You know my write will be above the norm!

If my write doesn't place in 1, 2, 3....
I'll tell you, sponsor dear, you've messed with me
In cyber world, I have my goons who check
They'll find your place and then, Oh...what the heck!

You'll get a pounding that you won't forget
You'll get your own N/A and that's a bet!
It stands for Nuked/Alright, and you'll be fried
So give me that first place, or run and hide!!!!!
