The fire logs glow, flickering to and fro
in her eyes he sees champagne dreams of love
the soft adagio plays a velvet tune of jazzing blow
right atop the hearth, she's fitted like a glove
Red hair flaming, ruby lips untamed her rubicon
a blush, acclaims her cheeks await the dawn;

Each dancer holds on cue precaution to the wind
style and grace in every move "amour est bleue"
with burning eyes of here, go rescind ,
a love is built on arcs of passion's queue;
Scarlet thoughts roseate skin enflamed a marathon
of amoureuse, bending arching longing one on one ;

Her hair a crayon colored Autumn proffers romance
and all the philharmonic musings of a lovely dream
together they loop meandered agile as a water dance
rushing towards each other skin to skin seam to seam ;
Wine colored kisses taking in a world of bless
garnet hearts of shine never to confess

they once lay dormant in the crook of night
now fired, ready to ignite....

1959

A super seismic year
Eargasmically one to revere

Sweet pulsating sounds
Bebop starting to slow down

Yes! A new, brand new form from an "OLD"
A new form that is undefined but feels good to the soul

A new direction that's unclear;
Improvisation is supreme with creativity filling the atmosphere

1959
A year so divine
One of a kind
Built to stand the test of time

Feeling "Kinda Blue", so I'm gonna take some "Time out."
Miles and Brubeck delivering now, and fans beginning to see what this is all about

Oh, yeah! "Mingus Ah Um"
"The Shape of Jazz to Come"

Charles and Ornette standing tall, too
Jazzing on a musical flight to a "New"

Liftoff to the 'Birth of Cool'
Flying high and jazzing through music's vestibule

Then there is mighty 'Mambo de Cuco' in sweet and savory 'Sabroso.'
Santamaria serves zesty flavors to enliven the palate, which makes it hard to say no

Yes!

1959
A year so divine
One of a kind
Built to stand the test of time

Mary had a little lamb

The birth was quite a sensation

It should go down in the history books

She needed a lot of sedation

Pinocchio had a very long nose

It grew when telling a lie

Geppetto couldn't keep it from growing

No matter how hard he tried

Three little piggies went tripping along

To the butcher, they were the target

Who was bent on chopping these piggies up

To sell 'em at the local market

Baa baa black sheep have you any wool

Of course the answer is yes

They're sheep, that's a real silly question

Three bags full would be my guess

Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle

Didn't think cats could play an instrument

Though I've heard some play a viola

That'd be like me climbing trees, the equivalent

Jack be nimble, Jack be quick

At my age, you must be jazzing me

It's been a long time since I was nimble or quick

Was probably just a wee tike of three

Georgie Porgie pudding and pie

The current trend is over eating

No wonder obesity is rampant in the world

Bad habits our kids we've been teaching

Mary had a little lamb

She also had a goat

Mary's been messing with the animals again

Naughty Mary, I here do quote

Premium Member Why Don'T Sheep Shrink In the Rain

Something I've always wondered about
A subject near and dear to my heart
Why don't sheep shrink in the rain
It's puzzled me right from the start!

A theory that sometimes is bandied about
Maybe their wool is non-shrinking
Sounds quite a bit far fetched to me
Someone's jazzing me I'm thinking!

Quite plausible if you think about it though
But whether it's true or it's not
Sheep I've talked to don't give a rat's ass
Damn wool is making them hot!

Among the Creations

13 March 2010

Among The Creations

I am blessed for being a God’s creation
Along with the grown-up trees, I build my own foundation

And I whisper to the mighty wind
To bestow me a seed alike wunderkind

And in this soil, I will walk barefooted
That if Barkus is willing, my heart is embedded

I see many daybreaks and sunsets
Along flowers bloom and gaping at the night’s garnet

Luxuriate to the florid orchard
With jazzing up of the playing of harpsichord

I am falling between frustration and elation
Sighing out loud along the sea waves commotion

That in this world, I am not alone
I will thrive and shrivel among the other creations

Archbishop Justin Timberlake

I don't know about Archbishop Justin Timberlake,
He’s jazzing up the church,
Making Jesus controversial,
Leaving life in the lurch.

It’s fine to have excitement,
About any religious thing or assumption,
But when you poke at liberal creeds,
You’re with the discontentment presumption.

The liturgy does not gel with Sankey hymns,
Which parishioners should not be made to sing;
Fundamentalism is on the way out,
Of Christianity’s credibility wing.

It is emotionally abusive,
To atheistic in-house kids who want to aspire,
To tell of the insanities,
Such tunnel vision requires.

Although I am glad of his enthronement -
It lets evangelicalism out the bag,
I hope to return to a more liberal clergyman,
For the future church ‘mag’.

Fundamentalists won’t admit to the speeches,
Given to their kids who are silent prey;
It’s not fair to live in a society,
Which allows only the understood to convey.

Pluralism is the glasses by which we all see,
Humanism, atheism, religion, and irreligion too,
And the Archbishop is therefore acceptable,
As a beacon of what fundamentalists do.

Freedom of speech and expression,
For some, will only come when we know such acts,
Societal change comes simply from people,
Who’s concepts and ideas become assumed facts.

He was not that successful at decking Wonga,
Anglicans can't quite compete,
With open market transactions,
Which have seemed to withstand the heat.

I don't validate high-interest lenders,
But the church should stick to God,
It should be more into caring,
For the elderly, all on their tod.

The Hummer Slammer Beat

Jazzing around,
the black humming bee
swings along with the strings

Fiddles, guitars
in the piano bars
keeping a-slamming the floor

The music is growing
from under the feet
of the Dancer:

THE BEAT!

Tribute To Love

The sunset quivers
on memory’s sea.
Reminiscence dreams
of you and me.
Mellow tones
in golden hues
jazzing the steps
with hidden clues.
Reflections move
in quavering depth.
Dreaming for me
is a forward step;

There’s room
in this boat, now,
for more than we.
You’ve become
the memory
of how it should be
With true love
a reflection,
ever following me
I’ll launch
from this shore
into life’s sea.

Premium Member Straight From the Hip

You've all heard the expression

“He shoots straight from the hip!”

The official dictionary translation...

“To speak directly or frankly”

Actually I would hope this applies to yours truly

No jazzing, no messing around, no hidden agendas

What you see is what you get

There's too much razzmatazz these days

It time to say what you mean and mean what you say

Be responsible for your actions and words

It will lead to a better understanding

Where we're all coming from

The world needs more openness to advance

Into the unknowns of the 21st century

Straight from the hip!

Melophile

I've always been a mellow
type of fellow
Laidback like dem seats
in that Cadillac
Yeah! Real chill like that
sleek '73 Deville
Even as a little boy
the jukebox was my toy
Sweet rhythms of life
abating all ills and strife
A manchild in a candy store
Robust bass, lovely strings, classy keys,
Harmonic horns...need I say more?
No worries! I will continue
so vast, so deep, so true
Riding that old country road
just shaking off the load
Hip-Hopping to the urban ghetto
Tupac and Biggie fo sho'
Miles and Miles of Trane
jazzing through the sun and rain
Blues up, blues down, blues all around
Willie Dixon and that Chess Record sound
Feeling it deep in my spirit and heart
The voice of Mahalia Jackson I can't depart
Luther Vandross to Bob Marley
Bob James to Uncle Charlie
Madonna to Marvin Gaye
Earth, Wind & Fire to Cold Play
Jimi Hendrix to Janis Joplin
Stephanie Mills to Phil Collins
Blondie to Muddy Waters
Whitesnake to Crystal Waters
The Beatles to Bobby Bland
Sam Cooke to Duran Duran
Jackie Wilson to Jackson 5
Otis Redding to the Maroon 5
Cassandra Wilson to the Doobie Brothers
Earl Klugh to the Pointer Sisters
Regina Belle to James Brown
Patti LaBelle to Chris Brown

(Pause)

Man! I think I better stop
before I start talking about Prince
and the King of Pop
But I have a confession to make
Please hear me out; it's not fake
I can't help it; I'm a melophile
Now, excuse me while I go tune
in for awhile
