In An Instant

Eyes meet.
Nerve endings tingle.
That spark of something fills the air.
A connections between two people- instantaneous
And within moments, the certainty settles
Like a soft new blanket
Warm and reassuring
With no fuzz balls to mar its perfection.
This is what has been missing.
The silken throw pillow on the bed of life.
The one that enhances every other texture and hue.
It at once soothes the touch and sharpens the vision.
Perfection and completion in a moment
When love is found
And excitement abounds.

Premium Member Instant Knowing

she remembered him as soon as their eyes met
he began walking toward her; they met in the middle
the rest of the room disappeared, nothing else mattered

she smiled at her life mate, recognizing without knowing how
he smiled, for his dreams had been all about this pretty face
the rest of the speed daters wondered what had happened

for without another word, these two walked out,
not following any rules, and not caring in the least
the host was yelling instructions but they did not hear

he asked if he could take her hand, and she laughed
complete the second his skin touched hers,
knowing him without knowing how she knew

theirs was a soul connection
picked up lifetime after lifetime
different bodies, but always the same instant recognition.

The Instant

The Instant

As we age our way
On into the sunset
There is much yet to do

We reflect on our own paths
And the people we have met,
The things we have experienced,
The places we have been,
And those we have love,
And those we have lost

Some have crossed over
That bridge that awaits
Our arrival . . .
Some have just chosen
To go a different way . . .
Yet in truth,
All of these reflections
Are what has contributed
To what we see ourselves as . . .
Today

The remaining question
That lies before us,
Has much to do with
These things,
But at the same time . . .
Very little

Legacy perhaps
Will be what we are ultimately
Judged for

Who are you,
What did you contribute
To the good of the whole . . .
Did you see your self
As a soul apart,
Or as a soul a part of ?

The greatest judgment
We will ever face,
Is that of our own

Truth of Self
Lingers at the corners
Of our consciousness . . .
Will you walk down the street
In your ‘Now’
And meet your potential,
Or will you continue
To attempt to avoid
The inevitable ?

Who knows the time
When we will be in a moment
Transported
To that bridge
That must be crossed . . .

Aging our way
Is not always
The way we may go . . .
Some times it comes
In but an instant

Bird songs instead of beeping machines
My body free from tubes and attachments
Goodbye to ICU , welcome home in comfort
As peace surrounds me and pets love on me
Slowly I walk, one step at a time
Slowly I do things, one moment at a time
I am thankful I lived, my mind is still whirling
Everything suddenly happened so fast
I am grateful for friends, kind nurses and doctors
I cherish each moment, things can change in an instant

For An Instant

For an instant he is a lad
smelling the perfume of a young lady
for the first time
or maybe for the second or third,
olfactory memories are powerful
and travel together.
Now on this morning, the snow carries
a peppermint and lilac scent
and he an old man searching for a source.
Here comes a ragged flight of crows,
he squints in the cold sunlight,
dazzled, and yet the crows are more defined now
then they would be in a less brilliant light.
He recalls the same crows
when he was young, the same bright snow
almost blue under their wings.
Did any of this change -
the girl, the crows, the scent,
and sense of it all?
Later he ponders that when the mind falls
into a sensory soup, a medley poured long ago
can shed a lifetime in that one moment,
an instant that opens like an old book
that can be read
for the first time once more.

Premium Member Everything Today Is Instant

Everything today is instant!
More ram, faster processor –
My God!--how I miss the
Slower and Lesser; when one
had pause between actions –
took time for personal stills
and reflections. Nowadays, plugs
in all ears; screens everywhere...
gone the epic when people would
openly share, bits and pieces of
meaningful self: when things were
far less programmed; from the
heart, direct and spontaneous;
a time when people seemed less
fearful of silence – to be alone
with one's thoughts – needing
less external distraction, the
flashing and ringing electronics
that are rapidly becoming
our modern pulpits and courts.

Premium Member AN INSTANT

An instant touch
Can bring life
Fertilize an egg
Procreate and excel

Expand on an idea
Stand on business
Grow your company
Instant entrepreneurial touch

An instant touch
Can bring death
Shot of a gun
Driving drunk

An instant touch can heal
Like the woman in the bible
Who had an issue of blood
Touched His hem was made whole

My instant cup of coffee or tea
May not seem so great to me
But the person without a cup
May see me as blessed filled up

Life is filled with so many instances
Be open to the significant possibilities

Instant

Take me…
		Softly…
			Firmly…
Inside your thoughts is beautiful.
Sweet confusion, troubled spirit,
There I feel good, beloved,
No past, no future,
Enfold me with a glance,
The deepness of a feeling you teach,
Take me…
	Softly…
			Firmly…
Sublime instant isolated in time.

             In an Instant

A towering temple of trust
Is not built in a day, in an instant
But spans over years and years;

From laying of its base of sincerity
To its inner shrine of beauty
It is wrapped with the cement of honesty
Sprinkled with water of love and care
Mixed with rock sand of confidence
Sealed with iron bars of resistance
And set with the bricks of pertinence.

Yet, the temple crumbles in an instant,
Its towers turn to heaps of dust
And its shrine is reduced to ashes
With the venom of mistrust,
With the spleen of treacherous acts
That shake the very base of confidence,
Like earthquakes that smash down palaces,
Like the shot of heavy missiles
That ravage all on their way
In a moment, in an instant.
