Heidi Sands Poet Free verse

In an Instant

Bird songs instead of beeping machines
My body free from tubes and attachments
Goodbye to ICU , welcome home in comfort
As peace surrounds me and  pets love on me
Slowly I walk, one step at a time
Slowly I do things, one moment at a time
I am thankful I lived, my mind is still whirling
Everything suddenly happened so fast
I am grateful for friends, kind nurses and doctors
I cherish each moment, things can change in an instant

Your poem is so full of gratefulness and praise. Thank you for sharing your upward gaze of friends and medical staff kindnesses, and for the reminder how things can change so quickly, very sobering!
