Premium Member Beguiling Spring

Beguiling spring, how bold your arrogance
You shameless season painted in conceit
Parading up and down each city street
O'er hill, through dale, you flaunt your elegance

Each tree, each flower, bathed in decadence
Each gale, each breeze, your moods so indiscreet
Each dawn you send your birdsong out to greet
A vain display of your benevolence

And yet each year we welcome your return
With song and poem, we celebrate your style
We rush to be the first to photograph
A daffodil, a bud, a waking fern
You always make that winter wait worthwhile
On every heart you leave your autograph.

Premium Member A Little Bird Told Me

Sue decided to send Jim a tweet
She used words that were quite indiscreet
Calling him a fat turd -
(Using another word)
Their romance has taken a back seat!

Premium Member The Tongues

The Lying Tongue
sang a song
The Flattering Tongue
played along
The Know It All Tongue
intended the composition
The Meddling Tongue
held it's position
The Harsh Tongue
kept quiet for once
The Tactless Tongue
reluctantly obliged
The Rude Tongue
got annoyed
The Loquatious Tongue
was soon overjoyed
The Discouraging Tongue
hummed on
The Self-Depreciating Tongue
became withdrawn
The Argumentative Tongue
thought it all wrong
The Boasting Tongue
thought it right on
The Hasty Tongue
felt it was contrite
The Discouraging Tongue
and all this singing
The Indiscreet Tongue's
awkward whistling
The Complaining Tongue's
plodding drone
The Cursing Tongue
let out a no-no moan
The Judgemental Tongue
liked that a lot
The Self-Absorbed Tongue
rolled it's eyes
The Retaliating Tongue
held out a hat
The Intimadating Tongue
offered a prize
The Cynical Tongue
just laughed
The Accusing Tongue
choreographed
The Gossiping Tongue
signed autographs
The Doughting Tongue
crooned the refrain
The Accusing tongue
blasted the blame
The Hasty Tongue
fanned the flames
So the Belittling Tongue
dismissed the party
The Devisive Tongue
composed the ending
And the Silent Tongue
looked on.

Premium Member I Stand Here

I stand here, on twisted limbs
Teetering upon broken knees
My feet stunted, unnatural
Thickly traitorous to motion

I force forward, to meet agony
Blades of pain, penetrating
Through torturous phantom minutes
Of solitary, sacrificial steps

These feet once danced
A tricky beat
Carried the obligation
Of force
And the belief of boldness
Now these feet
Are brittle and indiscreet

Tomorrow is beyond four gray walls
In swirling dresses and polished wood floors
Colors of music, shades of rhythm
For movement to flow, for grace to know

So I stand here
To make it so.

Premium Member Haunted

The night holds such gray, when beating wave and tortured sky compete
"Still round the corner there may wait, a new road or a secret gate."
Hammered from the surf or pounded from the shapes of the giants causeway
life will emerge while all eternity waits, the bright of sunlight to relate.

Abate the misery of colorless life, lost love and that which was so sweet
fill the empty rooms within the manse upon the tor, so now, incomplete
with the sound of childrens laughter and the rampant run of little feet.
Let loose the lock from gate which binds my love to death so indiscreet.

The looming form of barren rib and prow so sharps denies the rift of heaven
Its skeletal remains do not harken to the light nor St. Peter's prod
for my love, my life, my heart was lost amongst the waves thus broken
and will walk no more with me upon the sand or haunted sod.

Rejoinder To Kpm and Cgr

It only takes a few years gone
for everyone to forget that song;
though often later generations
will not keep their venerations
of cherished family now long past,
faint memories die off real fast!
Faces lost, even distant laugh,
if not captured in photograph;
portraits peel and fade away
unless in museum they do stay,
and even when on wall they bask,
most future viewers often ask
“Who is that person? Who were they?
Were they important in their day?”
Statuary might be concrete,
memoirs can be indiscreet,
tombstones often wear away,
nothing on Earth can long stay;
we return to dust, one in the same
while only few win lasting fame.

Premium Member Shut-Down City

On asphalt, wet with blood and sweat (down streets with no address),
there lay a man, snuffed by the Man and left to evanesce.
The Man then strode along the road and smiled at his success
and, cavalier, he bought a beer, sat down to decompress.

A life was gone, but day wore on, the sun awash in heat –
the riddled head no longer bled, concealed beneath a sheet,
and passers-by began to cry, were sobbing indiscreet’,
while holy bells in distant hells began to moan and bleat.

In heaven's eyes (no one denies) due process is decreed,
but down below, where burdens flow, it rarely can succeed
and certainly not for those distraught, benighted in their need,
so Men in blue (you know the crew) thought nothing of the deed.

Though just eighteen, a little green (was still his mama's son!),
adored by all, but left to sprawl in webs of hate, undone,
the youth was shot and left to rot, but never held a gun,
so people cried and wondered why'd the evil deed been done.

The sheriff said "forget the dead, his crime was black as slate"
and in the rush to hush and shush, he hissed "I'll tell you straight,
that boy, today, was on his way to rendezvous with fate,
so now you know – I gotta go, it's gettin' kinda late".

Not satisfied with those who'd lied, some took to fill the streets
with peaceful cries neath blackened skies, were paid with clubbed retreats,
cruel gas cascades and stun grenades, then days in jailhouse suites –
though curfew's on from dusk till dawn, each night this scene repeats.

With exits barred, in came the Guard to rumble and repress,
for people stray both night and day in search of some redress.
The city's scarred, the houses charred, the locals in distress –
with cut or bruise, they still refuse to kneel or acquiesce.

So choppers fly above the sky with whirling, twirling blades
and drones in flight within the night erase the renegades.
The tarot cards and crystal shards reveal the masquerades –
the beating parts of diamonds’ hearts forever club the spades.

Now puppet Pols are making calls and acting out charades
(like shouting loud within the crowd, and marching in parades),
while underneath, where lies a wreath, the hope for justice fades.
Yet, freedom waits behind the gates, beyond the barricades.

Embarrassing Moment

Mid-Sixties, I went to the shore
A hot summer day, so I wore
My handmade swimsuit
It was very cute
Expecting I was, and I swore,

It looked just as nice as can be
My tummy was covered, you see
The shorts were cut out
For belly to sprout
Top flared over shorts demurely.

At once came along a great wind
My top flew right up and chagrined
By this great surprise
To see with my eyes
My tummy exposed as bare-skinned!

But now in these new modern days
No problem with bumps that amaze
Those covered or bare
Don't bring on a stare
When dressed up in clingy arrays

Back then we were less indiscreet
Maternity clothes for the street
Were tents that flowed wide
To hide what's inside
Our bumps took a private backseat!

So when my bare belly stuck out
So shocked, I spun 'round with a shout
Grabbed towel up fast
Embarrassed, aghast
I covered it up without doubt!

Premium Member My Chaotic Cousin

After my cousin has visited for a day
My mum’s desperate for a holiday!

Mum pretends she’s gone out and tries to hide
But my auntie knows mum is lurking inside

The minute mum go to open the front door
My cousin charges in like he’s going to war

Mum’s face is ashen she can sense the doom
As this tiny tornado enters the living room

He shouts out words I could never repeat
If I did it would be very indiscreet

I try to be kind to him and ask him to play
But Peter always wants things done HIS way

If he loses a game he screams ‘its not fair’
My auntie consoles him she says ‘there, there’

She really thinks he’s perfect; he’s her pride and joy
Unfortunately she cannot see he is a spoiled little boy

He bites and kicks and punches me whenever he can
He’s my chaotic cousin and of him I’m not a fan

When its time for food he eats just like a greedy pig
Grabbing all the goodies, its no wonder he’s so big

He climbs on all the furniture and colours on the wall
My auntie doesn’t stop him, there’s no discipline at all

Peter’s just a spoiled brat and doesn’t have a friend
It’s a shame we’re cousins or this relationship would end

Next time he comes to visit I’ve told mum I’m moving house
I told her that I can no longer tolerate this nasty little louse

My mum tells me to be patient and I’m not to hit the blues ….
It’s a difficult time for many when kids hit the terrible twos!

Premium Member Cheese and Whine

I despair when I’ve stepped in dog poo
Excrement on the sole of my shoe
It would be indiscreet
If I crapped in the street
I wish doggies would use a pooch loo!

I mowed the grass but now feel forlorn
I see cat poo all over my lawn
My neighbour’s pussy
Is so darn fussy ...
It's just my lawn that he treats with scorn!

Here’s my whine now pass the Cheese Contest

Objectively Me

Preface

My name is Verlena Sexton.
I am in my forties.
I have three eccentrics – Oland. Emily, and Tony.
My adult children are my knowledge base in the world of iniquity.
I continue to face what I am depleting.

Form

In this bio, I must be unique.
As a Social Scientist, I will also be indiscreet to the point of reality in why I am objectively me.

Conformity

I grew up in Leland, Mississippi in a single parent household.
My great grandmother vested soul.
She and I would read scripture together to inform personality.
She would tell me this would ensure equity and identity.

My mom was a homemaker and a strong woman.
She dealt with life as it came.
She raised six children with little help from their dad.
All are grown now and she rests in Heaven.
My oldest sister is there as well.

My dad was married with a family at home.
I am the outside child from his union with my mom.
Outside means, I now look in to discover genealogy and to emerge into a biblical presence.
My dad is disable and doing well.
When he is call by Jehovah, I know he will be ready.

Orthodoxy

I am just an orphan looking for home.
I am not lonely, but I am alone.
Many obstacles I have overcome.
My love of family is a moral code.
As a mother, I must continue to be as strong.
I remember my mom in times of guidance.
My dad is always there with insight.
I am the cause and effect that manifest in life.
My great grandmother words are to believe in that which is precise
And to live a life vested in the spirit of Christ amplifies.
“The world is filled with liars my child. Trust will come via a rightful mind.”

Between the Devil and the Sea ( Scylla and Charybdis )

Between The Devil and The Sea
( Scylla and Charybdis )

Cosmetic the creature cover girl
is accessible only at night
a picture female in her temple
laying askew on an alter ego

A de lux harlot in romantic rough house
a fetish target
frivolous nymphet with a rampant phallus

And the sinister will follow strictly incognito

In her sticky sexual paradise
blond peroxide sensuality comes by proxy

No virtues abashed
a blow up doll as she lays in prostrate sultry action
her deflowering for titillation
she is said to have a thing for perversion
this ageless angelica this strip teaser
the Molotov cocktail of her own euphoria

Down in the bawdy boulevard men ape their ardour
all mouth to mouth with the call girl
a fondle or a blatant grope

She’s a clock work courtesan to keep her from destitution
to feed the kids she considers herself to be an acquisition
smiling for the gratuitous exhilaration of playing the other woman
vogue with her etiquette indiscreet in the burlesque
self esteem is held between the food the warmth
and not much else

Premium Member A Very Windy Day In August

I didn’t want to make a great fuss
When Fred sat beside me on the bus
A great stink did appear -
T’was expelled from his rear
I went green and started to cuss

I thought it would be indiscreet
If I upped and went to swap seat
He kept passing out gas
From his windy fat ass ...
(It’s lucky he can’t smell MY feet!)

No idea of his real name.. but this really happened to me on the bus yesterday
... I don't have smelly feet

Halloween Night

I see heaven's natural satellite of the earth,
the twilit lunar reflection after the sun sets-
The Halloween moon gently bows down,
feeling all the children's tiny footsteps.

I see the ghosts walking among the streets,
shades of crimson blood soaked vampires-
Shadows of black with grey misty fog,
intrigued with all the scary costume attire.

Fear in me as I approach a haunted house,
fake saws cutting bodies looking so real-
Creepy clowns chasing me in a corn maze,
my heart races and I start to frantically squeal.

Frightened by the sounds of the walking dead,
spirits rising on Halloween night every year-
The cemeteries reek of cessation and fatality,
watching one-hundred-year-old zombies appear.

The witches and warlocks bring out their talisman,
conjure spells and perform human sacrifice-
Werewolves creep out from the woods with ease,
I watch as the innocent children they entice.

On the oracular night of the revered Halloween,
cryptic creatures roam the earth indiscreet-
They fit in perfectly without being acknowledged,
the children should be careful as they trick-or-treat.
