Best Drinks Poems
I went for a pint with The Queen
and tried to avoid being seen:
her voice was too loud
to blend in the crowd,
and jokes that she told were obscene.
for Kevin's Namedropper contest
Such dusty mats of coconut, and hats,
and wicker chairs that creak; and chats, and cats
on sills that suck the early sun that spills
through glass to pass into the frills and twills
that talk and twitter, pass the time till tiffin,
pass the time of day this way until
the chills of morning pass; and cups and saucers
clink and find the sink.
The daily round’s
begun and yarns are spun in sun and shade
until the fading light brings night; and glass
that’s black as peat reflects the hats and cats
upon themselves while vats of black-tar dark
and bats are kept outside; and clinks announce
that time again that brings the hour for drinks.
An old fashioned lemonade
Peach Melba cooler
A glass of Spanish sangria
Pina colada
Pimms with fruit skewers
Or planter's
Punch !
Spiked Drinks Got Them All So Rolling Drunk
Universe spun out of control and died
The planets sputtered out and then fell
The southern boy liked his chicken fried
And preacher's young son rang the old church bell
Hope lost its heart and thus began to cry
The throng laughed away, nobody cared
High sheriff asked, did anybody die
Mike gathered rabbits he had snared
Janet put on blue gown for that night's ball
As her older brother Bill dosed the keg
While white mouse in the corner saw it all
Kelly in miniskirt showed her legs.
Spiked drinks got them all so rolling drunk.
Most f'ed up of all was the local monk.

"A prom night to remember"
Let’s hve haggis and drinks mi luve
Find de bes ina de ole land
Lay yu head on mi chest mi luve
Whilst wi dance musik wid de band
Dance wid de band in de Highlands
Backyard jig good fer de ole soul
Tickle mi nose with yu gold locks
Tigether wi bade ead to toe’s sole
Call Fionn mi Luve with his jug
Nice poems he read at de gate
Summon the Clooties with a mug
Aye, they will cum and bles dis date
We’ll sail de river on Loch Ness
Kelpies will protect our flanks
Goddess Scotia says we bless
Oh mi chamin' sweet Sidhe, tanks
Aye! Mi sweet luve; Boobrie will fly
He will fetch up the Salmon Ring
And a knot cross de land we tye
Red Caps our guard til cum de spring
Then wid haggis and drinks mi luve
Goddesses'pipes blow dem great songs
In the grey mist we skip and dance
Then like Boobrie we fly with doves

Summer Cooking
Loud cheerful sounds are heard under a pavilion
as family has united for a family reunion.
Always held in shorts and swimsuit summer weather
in a park surrounded by a forest of evergreens and a snaking river.
It's always potluck, so there is always plenty of food to go around.
Deviled eggs, a variety of pasta salads, and mounds of potato salads,
barbecue hamburgers and hot dogs, fried chicken,
smoked venison, fish, and wild hog.
A choice of wonderful, sinful, yummy desserts,
and ice coolers full of a variety of drinks.
Family reunions, a great time to see both familiar
and new faces and catch up on the latest gossip of everyone's lives.

Devil take it, drunk again.
Evil was that vile Cocktail
magnificent though it seemed at the time.
Olive was very bitter and hard
Never again my head hums at me.
Dram of malt whisky finished things off.
Rum and rice wine sure don't mix
Indigestion the least of my worries.
Nerves are all a jitter, hands shaking
Keep still I in vain bid them.
Storm clouds fill my stomach I flee to the loo.
he drinks at nightfall as stars glitter
embraced in beauty
a man’s house where serpents dwell
he drinks he drinks
dreaming of golden hair
eyes locked on his
a warm embrace
he feels her fading
in a faraway place
as he drowns himself
he drinks he drinks
dawn creates stabbing pain
living nightmares
blue are his eyes
glistening raindrops
praying for the black of night
so he can continue to dig his grave
heavy spade
a tool to pit deep
too much to bear
death will be his master
he drinks he drinks

Child Drinks And Drives
(Parents Plead 5th. Beat the 5)
Mommy and daddy are going to jail you know
5 is too young to let your baby drink and drive on roads
Something went wrong along the highway of life
The child was not lucid enough for Officer Johnny
Who pulled the kid over, doing 50 in a 30 mph zone
“Where you off to kid?” He inquired
The lad picked his nose and said, “Want some?”
The law asked the youth, “You been drinking boy?”
The lad responded, “Mommy said you’re a pig.”
The pig…I mean Officer of the peace shouted out
License, registration, insurance card please!
You know the rest
Arrested on the spot by Mr. Prissy Cop
The toxicology test came back 2 weeks later
The child had been drinking at a bar
Snack bar, and had consumed chocolate milk & a candy bar
(Permit included)
Mom and pop are still off to jail
Derailed by other charges
Child endangerment, negligence
And simply being born prevailed
They will fight it though
This is America you know.
They will plead insanity, afluenza, (let’s say they’re rich)
And dehydration if it fits
This is a wonderful land we live in
And in the end they’ll take the 5th
Then take the brat home for a beating
That’s the least they do
For eating and drinking and stealing car keys
*(He will be punished in accordance with a nationally approved government sponsored beating program naturally. Similar to IRS corrective measures applicable for all citizens.)
I just had
a few drinks
raindrops
on the glass
teardrops on the window
and two teary eyes
we had our moments
we had
and some fights
that's how we found out
together
apart...
I had a few drinks
i saw your eyes
a few teardrops
and i'm totally drunk...
