Best December 8 Poems
to my kindred soul
...i know you are out there
somewhere on the other side
across cobblestone streets
that scorn my feet, like hearts
on the pathways and wrong turns
of so called love
i've been kissed
but not by your lips
nor with the same passion
as the skies at dawn
i've been wrapped
in the contours of arms
much like the bitter winds
of autumn's sweeping nights
shivering beneath the touches
that left me stranded
on the journey towards you
i hold you in my dreams
on the other side of streams
where tears trickle over the rocks
and the dams hold me back
i searched for you
beneath the lambent moon
through shadows on alleyways
always losing sight
in the harrows of night
i've danced
silently with death
in silhouettes
upon mind's walls
always breaking free
running away, lost
on these sidewalks
of chalked thoughts
yet sometimes i wonder
had i held his hand
would he have led me to you
in another place
another time
does fate await our destiny
on the other side of life...
i still search for you
down cobblestone streets
through the passages of time
as it shifts beneath my feet
stranded, alone
until we meet....
inside my dreams

Long ago Messiah came
tiny babe with Holy Name.
Born a lamb of Bethlehem
Promise of redemption’s plan.
Sinless one, He died for sin.
God in flesh, He rose again!
Ascended One enthroned above,
bids His followers to love.
Let the great glad tidings ring,
Christ will soon return as king!
Finally our Lord will reign,
ridding earth of death and pain.
Glorified in robes of white,
His radiance dispels the night.
All knees will bow and tongues confess
He is Lord and nothing less!
Holy hands to Him we raise!
All creation, give Him praise!
Holy One, our everything!
Jesus Christ the Lord and King!

This Life
From a child taught Catholic creed,
drilled, drilled into me by school nuns;
those teachings will never recede,
but, since those days I have lived tons.
Spirituality, is life,
I found this on my long journey;
and when life stabs me with her knife,
I seek the deep green and ferny.
In the silence of a forest,
I contemplate all chosen paths;
in the peace of a birds chorus,
yet, still I feel the sting of wraths.
With a mindset of courage, strength,
and a moral way of thinking;,
and a soul with great depth and length,
I just face this twisted life unblinking.
My Next Life
I can see a girl in shadows,
she looks like me but is not me;
I will find her in death's repose,
and will awaken as this she.
In afterlife, I am reborn,
to a unique language spoken;
odd rituals to welcome morn,
I find symbols of God broken.
My past life is gone and erased,
I have no emotions at all;
there is no sorrow to be faced,
no friends, no lovers to enthrall.
This new life a bottomless void,
I wonder for this place called Earth;
for here I am a humanoid,
maybe, maybe on my rebirth.
As Our Breath Flows, Here and Now
So, having considered all this,
I think I will embrace living;
seeking serenity and bliss,
total acceptance and giving.
I am okay with the fast pace,
and will be the best I can be;
for the Lord will provide me grace,
life a puzzle given to me.
I will weep and mourn when I must,
will hold to my heart memory;
write words to release as stardust,
and treasure each sweet reverie.
And when death comes to claim this girl,
let me repose deep in my grave;
beneath blue sky where the clouds swirl,
and lay roses like a red wave.

First Place
Ancient, rugged hills worn down by time
I miss the lush green hills of my home
Leaning away from the peaceful valley,
Mountains forged from eons long forgotten
During those prehistoric periods before
Earliest settlers found the Appalachians,
Already old, tired, and wrinkled, awaiting
The laughter of young children discovering,
Holding the secrets of ancestors denied
Their birthright by Jacobs and Jacob-ites
Where old waters flow down into new,
New River old, maybe older, than the Nile.
I miss the lush green hills of my home
Leaning away from the peaceful valley
Where John Deere still breaks the ground
In the springtime after a long, hard winter,
And where flowers bloom into October
Especially if Mother Nature allows them.
And she does, for that is her mountain way,
Creating an everlasting yearning for reunion
Back home in those West Virginia hills.

What's behind the terse, unspoken sound
One that abruptly inserted a period
Invoking a sigh in the middle of a sentence
Was it the uneasy voice of her heart's lyrics
Announcing your song is still incomplete
Or ambivalence of despondent music
Reluctantly strumming devoid of melody
Perhaps it’s time for your bashful words
To complement echo of the unsung verse
Disclosing explicitly to her anxious world:
You saw it in the smile of her cheerful eyes
And heard it from symphony of dulcet vibes
And felt it in the ballet of her delicate touch
When she held you close in an intimate hug
While mellifluous whispers of love spoke

All at once…
I realized that it was peace
Who left me breathless,
Hope who left me without a question,
Faith who knew my deepest need,
And love who silenced my every fear
All at once…
I knew, down deep inside me,
That there is something more important
Than my own tears – my own needs…
There is someone who prays, prays
And, in my gift of time – my gift of light…
I answer those prayers, those prayers
Who abide on the heart’s beating,
Abide in the questions, the believing
I answer those prayers
With the gifts I bring, giving
My hopes, my dreams, my friendship
Gifts of grace, listening, faith
Interest in the smallness of a star
Attention to the kindness of a heart
All at once…
I knew that real faith gives away
More than it takes
All at once…
I simply knew that God’s love
is generous and plentiful
it is lavish and lives in those…
who listen to the heart who believes
it is far better to give than receive

How I always lose
myself within your lines
Each stanza, and rhyme
are all so sublime
Your way with words
leaves me in awe
Holding such perfection
and not one flaw
You’re forever bringing a
smile to my lips
As I ride upon your
many peeks and dips
I can taste each word
that you recite
Leaving me with such a
pleasurable delight
I breathe in each breath
that you describe
Experiencing each of the
pieces that you scribe
When I lost faith in love
you made me feel
When I lose hope they
show me what’s real
When if I allow each
word to engulf me
Pulling me in, while they l
softly embrace me
As I read between your
perfectly written lines
They hold me imprinting
their design
As if lovers I can truly
feel your heat
Striking a blaze within
making me complete

I meander down a path sublime
Running fingers through sands of time
I come to seek the universal truth
While reminiscing upon my youth

~ My Christmas Wish ~
It's my first Christmas here, and I hope and pray,
I do better next year,
With all the fine examples of poetic excellence here
and friendships, dear!
I wish you and your families, a Merry Christmas and
a prosperous, artistic and loving New Year.

It was very hard for me growing up
As had to raise my two months old cousin.
Me! An adult at the age of six, yup.
After three years, my aunt gave birth to twins.
Then, three years more and their sister was born
To get trained after getting a degree
In the populated house, was forlorn.
Thought for a job to have my own life’s spree.
Then, the uncle and aunt died suddenly
Leaving my four cousins under my care.
And my dream to have my own died wholly
Though my head said, “No, It’s not fair, not fair”.
But my heart won over my head duly
Now the four cousins are my life only

If you have courage...
If you have courage...
You will, open your eyes
If you have courage...
You will not believe all their lies
If you have courage...
You will get up when you stumble
If you have courage...
You will always try to stay humble
If you have courage...
You will begin on your destination
If you have courage...
You will always humbly accept direction
If you have courage...
You will always open your mind
If you have courage...
Peace and happiness you will find
If you have courage...
You will try to understand others
If you have courage...
You will see all men as your brothers
If you have courage...
You will, try to see my point of view
If you have courage...
You will, better understand you
If you have courage...
You will, search for the truth
If you have courage...
You will not allow despising of your youth
If you have courage...
You will examine all the facts
If you have courage...
You will defend the truth from all attacks
If you have courage...
You will not follow the crowd
If you have courage...
You will testify out loud
If you have courage...
You will seek answers to your questions
If you have courage...
You will accept them without hesitation
If you have courage...
You will confess your faith in God
If you have courage...
You will not care when they call you odd
If you have courage...
You will understand why you believe
If you have courage...
You will not be easily deceived
If you have courage...
You will stand by your convictions
If you have courage...
You will help others with their contradictions
If you have courage...
You will not fear impending disaster
If you have courage...
You will have already obeyed God as your master
Do you have courage?

With Big Bang flash, our Universe was spun,
exploding with a force that quickly spread.
Now, science does predict oblivion
when all the energy of stars is dead.
Just half of all these energies remain
of what there was two billion years ago.
Two-hundred thousand galaxies now wane
with weakness of that surge which feeds their flow.
Survival of all living forms is moot,
for these evolved from Big Bang cosmic brew.
And in the end, the only absolute...
oblivion, the final stage...adieu.
Where stars and planets whirl in bright array,
the darkest, black oblivion will splay.

precious power you possess
wind me up, make me spin
Christmas carols fill the air
at your side, I skate with joy
on a glass rink in a child’s toy
captured in this fantasy dome
idyllic village surrounds us
two hearts twirling endlessly
red skates shiny and new
effortlessly, I glide toward you
happiness gleams from a child’s eyes
she rocks our world
bestows sparkling snow
flakes adorn our holiday scene
we pirouette, forever sweet sixteen
