Daft- the Elephant and the Bumble Bee

On my walk I chanced to see

An elephant with a bumble bee.

It was such a peculiar pairing,

And they had ice cream, which they were sharing.

The elephant was holding the ice cream cone

For the bee was on his mobile phone,

I thought wow, this is really *****...

I never get a signal here !

Premium Member ROBIN RED BREAST BUMBLE BEE AND KATY CATERPILLAR

Hi dear friends, I’m back after a bad shingles attack and straight after that bronchitis verging on pneumonia.

Little Robin red breast bobbing up and down,
Would take away with glee, anybody’s frown
And friendly buzzing Mr Bumble bee delights,
Us one and all, he does not sting, it’s not his thing.
He visits flowers , red, yellow purple , pink and blue,
Which attract him, loves their pollen and alluring hue.

One day bumble bee and little robin decided to be human,
So prepared for tea and pancakes, without the gluten,
They saw Katy the caterpillar crawling on the lawn,
And invited her to join them, the following morn at dawn,
They all met for this fun occasion by the nearby river,
But an uninvited visitor arrived with shiny wings, such a diva.

A Hadeda elegant and loud of call thought she was an opera
Singer, had one thing on her mind, which was Katy Caterpillar,
She slowly walked on her stalk like legs towards this prickly
Little insect, wanting to swallow Katy who was so wiggly,
Down her gullet, but Robin red breast said no no, no,
And Bumble bee agreed and said, I think you ‘d better go

So with his wide spread wings the Hadeda flew away,
Leaving Bumble bee and little Robin to enjoy their day,
How wonderful was their idea for pancakes and tea.
Another visitor arrives, so famous, known to you and me,
Can you guess who.

He wears a top hat, mutters crazy sayings,
And carry’s a full tea pot , ‘do you want a cup of tea,
Oh dear, oh dear, my or me, he or she or maybe you.
He takes his watch out of his waist coat pocket and says,
‘I’m late, I’m late for a a very important date, no time to
Say hello goodbye I’m late I’m late I’m late’
‘It’s time for me to go,
Au revoir from your dizzy beau.’
It was the Mad Hatter, of course,
An Alice in Wonderland source.

What happened to Katy caterpillar, well fearing
For her life, Katy crawled under a nearby bush,
Did not intend to be a snack, or mealtime mush.

NB – THE WORDS UTTERED BY THE MAD HATTER – are both from the book Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll and some of my own.
HADEDA IBIS - referred to in South Africa as only Hadeda.

No Bees, no World
Shy Little Hearts

She’s just a girl

He said, "Stung, once bitten twice shy..."
She said, "The Devil’s in the Details -
the real deal is swallowing

He said, "Lady Bird! Lady Bird!
Your House is on Fire!"
She said, "Long ago maybe,
the Empire now strong in unified minds
unfurls to The Town Crier
A new Kingdom
Love
Power
rising higher and higher
Ok tiger, maybe a spark now,
Not yet into bonfire"

She now smiles

Protest against atrocities on women
Protest in a peaceful way
Way to enlightenment

Waterfall largest is Victoria
Waterfall amidst nature
Nature so enchanting

A Humble Bumble Bee

Be like the little bumble bee
The humble little bumble bee
The bumble bee does not fret
About how much nectar to collect

The bumble bee approaches each flower
With an anticipation of success
The bumble bee does not worry
If another bee gets the best

The little humble bumble bee
Simply flies toward another quest
Be like the humble bumble bee
Work together until the job is done

Meeting the needs of many
Not just the only one
Then without a backwards glance
Celebrate with a humble bumble bee dance

Bumble Bee Stings and Singing

Bumble Bee Stings And Singing

Bee sting
Bumble is here
With fear

Fearsome
Generating
Real pain

Painful
Targeting you
To run

Running
Faster on wind
To wait

Waiting
Then get stung
Get wet

Wetter
In water sink
Hold breath

Breathless
For bee to leave
Then pray

Praying
Bee goes away
Then rise

Rising
To see it gone
Be calm

Calmer
Than the soft wind
Then sing

Singing
Is better than
Bee stings

The Bumble Bee

		Value the industrious bumble bee
Working all of the teeming daylight hours.
Fertilising crops for you and for me,
Taking pollen from the sunlit flowers.
Flying on the season's warm, scented breeze
Unlikely pilot of the summer sky.
		Your antennae navigating with ease
The paths by which your queen, and we, rely.
How long without the bee would we survive?
Seeker of ambrosia where you alight,
Collecting nectar for your busy hive,
Tunefully humming on your fertile flight,
Working all of the teeming daylight hours,
Taking pollen from the sunlit flowers.

In Praise of the Bumble Bee

      Taking pollen from the flowers,
      Working all the daylight hours,
      Praise the humble bumble bee,
Fertilising crops for you and me,
      Humming on your productive flight,
Busy, busy, busy where you alight.
Without the bee would we survive?
      Collecting nectar for its hive,
      To keep its brood, and us, alive;
      Working all the daylight hours,
     Taking pollen from the flowers.

Bumble Bee Hard At Work

Bumble bee on
the move, from
flower to flower,
seeing red clover,
it stops for a while.

Humming it's way
    around this
nature palace
so free, to take
pollen back to
     hive.

Nectar so enchanting
to draw each one
to the colorful flowers
in the fresh outdoors.

Knowing that
all flowers would
soon fade away,
if not for the bumble
bee's hard work.

The Plight of the Bumble Bee

Hello, I am a buff-tailed bumble bee,
But in this fair and pleasant land, I’m dying.
Intensive farming methods, can’t you see ?
Do not provide the flowers for which I’m sighing.
The meadow’s gone, and were that not enough
The butterflies and moths are suffering too –
So many native plants you’re killing off;
Make no mistake, this will impact on you !
When you see me, ‘dozing’ in a flower,
I’m helping to produce the crops you need –
I zig-zag flower to flower and hour by hour
Transport the pollen to produce the seed.
Be friendly, plant bee-friendly plants for me –
I’ll buzz and be a hive of industry.

My Bumble Bee Friend

Sitting on the green grass
A cute little bumble bee
Approached my spot
Sat and began spying me

I kept his gaze
We were eye to eye
or is it eye to eyes?
Either way, this contest we did try

Not One movement
This starring game
Even though we know
It quite lame

No buzzing around
Not a single shake
But i sat in the grass
While he sat on a stake

But in this moment
That we did stare
A new feeling came
I began to care

This little bumble bee
Did catch my heart
But as i went to hold him
He left, he dart

As my heart dropped
The love i did lack
Came whizzing by
He did come back

Landing on a flower
I did dare to hold
This cute bumble bee
So fuzzy and bold

And when my hand reached
To catch the bumble be stud
He stayed in my hands
My new bumble bee bud

Elle Lee and Bumble Bee - Nursery Rhyme

There was a lovely child named Elle Lee
whose very best friend was a bumblebee.
They met one day in a field of clover
Bumble Bee buzzed and flew right over.

He was surprised to see Elle Lee's wings.
She said, "Faeries have wonderful things."
But Elle Lee didn't like her curly red hair
and covered it up so no one would stare.

Bumble Bee said, "Your curls are divine.
the same color as strawberries on a vine."
She took off her scarf and set her curls free
Shouting happily, "WHOOPEE! WHOOPEE!"
