Bea was quick-witted, clever and sanguine.
Loving adventure, her escapades fine….
With energy enough for at least twenty.
Did she have admirers? Oh, yes! Plenty!
I am on top of the world said my cousin Sweet Bea
She was every bit as creative as I knew her to be.
I have tamed an ostrich and we are on the go.
On which planet we land, who will ever know?
We fly through the night among the planets and stars.
You could never again coax me to drive those plain cars.
I am on top of the world, and I love my life.
I will never be tied down to be anyone’s wife.
An impish doppelganger, Bea
liked nothing more than to run free
strange feelings she shook
turned around to look.
It unsurprisingly was she!
Gladys Sue Bea March was a Sticky beak.
Into our lives he would utterly peek.
She would tell everything.
Her mouth would fairly sing.
Thus when we saw her we would barely speak.
She had a clever way of sneaking in,
So quickly standing right next to your chin.
Listening with all her might.
It was not all right.
I think gossiping like this is a sin.
She was the bawdiest gal, they said.
Her eyes were green, her hair was red.
There were rumors of course
She rode nude on her pet horse
But we never knew her, for she was long dead.
You’re luckier for it, they told me.
She lived to be age eighty-three
She had a hankering
For all kinds of pankering
She was my Great-Aunt Norma Bea
If you are raised in a friendly small town like me
New York City is a difficult place to be
Saying “hello to every stranger” you see,
Earns you wicked glares and stares, Aunt Bea.
Worse, they will cross the street in a non-talking people sea,
To not have to face you, not have to hear you, and to get away from thee.
Below this stone lies Bea
A woman who stirred all ire
Might God respect her hobby
N' let her stir the fire
9/18
Beauty and all its colors
Everything you could ever need
And everything you could ever want
She holds your heart
Makes every bad thing amazing
In times of need she is all you need
The only person you have truly loved
Holding the key to your heart and happiness
It's for the best. I tell myself with hopes of improving my mental health.
Two days ago was a man with immense wealth
Like when Lauren and Marley died my eyesight has gone all fuzzy
Still no doubt in my mind you love me, Even though you cannot see,
Hear or touch me. Always know I'm thinking of you.
When you look at a conversion table and see metric ton, think of us.
I think about you Bea and the way you buzz
Taught me what is is like to be "normal" again
Touched and enamored my heart not only with your stirring unparalleled soul
Oh for you taught me how to smile and kiss, embracing the bliss
For some reason I'm pissed, so much remorse, Barely can stomach
I asked you to break up with me, through the tears you said, "I set you free". But who would I want to be with if not my beautiful Bea?
It's for the best, your can go see others, but Know I will ALWAYS be you lover..

BEA
I see you now and your smile
Lips parted and your black hair
Hair that smells of freshness
I wonder if you see me
And miss me as the sun
Eyes blue and loving only you
And those famous lips
Do you reach for me in your dreams
Can't catch me through the mist
My tears fall as rain and burn my soul
I promised to love you
I failed and am filled
with shame
The ticking of the clock
A bird chirps
The bugs rub their wings
It reminds me of the walks we will never have
Arm wrapped on mine and your head on my shoulder
Where do I go now
How will I breathe without you
How will I make it work
I see you in the window searching
I hope you find what you look for
Hope you find love
Peace and joy
Light a candle for me when it rains
Cool fresh rain that washes all the sad memories away
Leaves me fresh
Light a candle and pray
Pray God sends me air
Pray I will sleep
Long sleep and know you were loved
Loved like no other
Know that for once in my life I meant something
That I felt loved for once and it was the greatest moment of my
Life !!
Wisdom from Grandma Bea
The worth of a man isn't his looks
It's not to be found in fashion books
But in the legacy he leaves behind
As he goes about his daily grind
Was he loved by family and friends?
That's what counts as this life ends
For John Freeman's Wisdom contest
Visiting Bea
Might you be her son she asked
Each week I see you here
Oh no, I’m not her son I said
I’m just a volunteer
“Just a volunteer” she said
As I turned to walk away
I wonder if you’d have the time
I've something to convey
Do you know how much she waits
For the day that you arrive
How she listens for your voice
Her senses more alive
Do you know she checks her watch
Many times before
You arrive to visit her
And enter through her door
Do you know she speaks of you
When you are not there
And tells us stories you have told
Tales see likes to share
Do you see the smile she gives
To you when you are here
How she loves to hold your hand
Your presence is so dear
Do you know you’re in her prayers
That she says every night
A prayer to keep you safe from harm
When you are out of sight
Do you know how much you mean to her
The difference that you make
By chasing boredom from her hours
And her loneliness forsake
These are gifts you give to her
Every time you’re here
And that is why there’s no such thing
As “ Just a volunteer”
