the real batman is more frightening than anything on TV
I met him on my way to a rally in a town called Liberty
He was riding on the back of a giant ugly toothy bat.
Together we screamed – me and my terrified cousin Matt.
A photo would not do these feelings justice, I told the other kids.
This bat was humungous, he could have put mammoths on the skids.
They laughed at me, thought I was lying, until the bat flew into sight
The real batman’s laughing voice was the last thing I heard that night.
Awe & shock bowlers in the dock our warlock & glock “the judge”
Rapscallion and stallion wrangling with dangling golden medallion
Facing the pacing battalion on our latest sinking Caribbean galleon
Our burly oracle with each follicle so curly a rock that won't budge
In that 90’s dungeon Robin our classy curmudgeon brassy bludgeon
Truncheon fine dining on a hurly burly Courtenay & Curtly luncheon
Calms alarms and qualms delivers us from harm with stoic heroic psalms
Call to arms more like baobabs than palms those offside charms “the Judge”
Speedsters scary & lairy others wary prime time for our hairy chest fairy
Robin our pace Pontiff willow ace not a whiff or a riff or sniff of what if
Believers in his jobbing levers will go biff in any tiff that's the pith of Smith
Not just a county squire but quite possibly the ultimate Hampshire Sire
Calling card hit it so hard earned the fable label of both BATman & Robin
Hall of fame name can’t smudge hats doff to a complete one off “the Judge”
Gotham City’s local hero Batman
for every villain devises a master plan
He never fails to outwit his foes
whose maniacal ploys fall like crumbling dominoes

It is quite common to kiss injuries on those wee.
At three, my son asked to have bath autonomy.
I tossed a washcloth, then stood where he could not see.
Soon, he called out words that amusingly shook me,
"Mom, it washed sore, come kiss ouchy on my pee-pee."
Shopping, strolling him down the grocery store aisle
where female hygiene products are sorted in piles,
my son, age four, earnestly said, "When I'm grown, I'll
buy all these things with flowers on them for my wife."
His words styled a smile in me that would last for life.
I used mild-applied wooden spoons for mood anchors.
This set me up for disgust from food cart flankers
when my son yelled, "Look Mom, a hole bag of spankers."
My child, four, eyed that, not the shelved Power Rangers?
I hoped no one would report child welfare dangers.
Once, when a minister summed up his sermon's span
asking "Who's the greatest force in the universe?",
my son, at five, stood up with some dramatic plan.
Lifting his toy hero as high as small ones can,
he enthusiastically declared, "Batman!"
Thoughts of vacation, developed my fav word pearl,
"How many times do I wake up before Disney World?"
See if you gave an E to Batman
Would he be hyper vigilant
Reputation is what others say about us, character is what we know about ourselves. Don’t be enslaved by what others say about you—Robert N Gorelick
Cat Lady Be Mine
Tall and svelte, kind and discrete
Lovely single cat lady strolls up my street
Some folks are just crabby
I love you and your tabby!
Cat lady be mine and life shall be sweet
Riddles
Riddle me this Batman:
what is the middle of a fat man?
Is there anything clean
about a garbage can?
If two can dance
can Toucan Sam?
Is beige the same as ecru or tan?
Why
-does it come between ex and zee?
Is the alphabet
a good bet,
or is beta better?
Are you meant to sweat
when you wear a sweater?
Or for that matter
pant in pants?
Or ambulate in
an ambulance?
King Duncan wouldn't allow it
Chin sweat and air conditioning
Sending me into a linguistic shaming spiral
Flavoursome mints and sparkling water
Won't fix this wet nightmare
Telling the steps to SHUT UP
Sock sniffer
Chemical bomb leather shoes
Armpits oceaning
Give me Nigeria
Or the jungle
Where the birds don't sing
My wife has been reading The Return of the Native for ten years
But does owning an AK-47 count as knowledge?
To the bat cave
Invisible
Ah to fly
Like Superman
And save the day once more
Or X-Ray rescue captives
As I laser-melt the door
Perhaps I climb
Tall towers
And swing without a care
Between the skyline scrapers
Catching villains in a snare
Or my muscles flex
In latex
City restoration is the goal;
As I zoom around in vehicles like
Some dark knight of the soul
A metal suit
Protects me
While my heart burns like the sun
With my cape-less banter shielding
Vulnerabilities, every one
The years behind have taught me..
That heroic can be small
No need to spin the planet
Or smash right through the wall
Instead, it is in wisdom;
The timeless gentle start
Of the smile that lights the shadows
On the dark side
Of a heart
No need to be invisible
Why not let your shadow fall
On the desperate, lonely stranger
We start with one
And save them all.

Get Batman real
He grabs the bad guys who steal
Now here is the deal
Would Batman have slight appeal
Without his fine Batmobile?
I saw him standing on the limb and I wondered about his sanity.
The last time I had seen Green Bat Clock Man was on my vanity.
I’ll jump! He yelled to the crowd of robins gathered around to stare.
I watched him do an entirely crazy summersault high jump in the air.
He’s chained! Ted yelled; He’ll break his neck; fall in the inner cove!
The chain unraveled as if by magic as the Green Bat Clock man dove.
He’s a wizard one screamed as he landed on his well-endowed feet.
He’s a mystical clock, yelled my cousin Jeb, love child of Uncle Pete.
Green Bat Clock Man flew up to the limb and did it again and again.
What do you think of him? I asked my not-easy-to-please identical twin.
She sniffed. I think he’s still a show off, and not to my taste at all.
She was still angry that he had left her broken hearted in the fall.
Even cartoon characters must go Woke?
Guess Tinsel Town must be broke ?
Close all the churches, why, yes!
There is no sin anymore, I sadly, guess.
The only sin is, if you dare to think...
If you are not Woke, you frankly, stink!
On sites, you dare express yourself?
You get insulted and set on a shelf.
Get out the Woke Gestapo Uniforms.
Out to destroy anyone not going along.
You and your poetry, hated to the max.
How dare you not follow every Woke fact?
At this site, nary a tribute for you!
Just insulted in poetry, for you being you.
There is a killer pandemic here called hate.
Please keep being you, for such is your
outstanding, yet loathed fate!

simply is simple
I wish I might feign
I wish I might go
to stumble
to quake
simply is something
I feign I might die
I feign I might rise
to reverie
to time
simple is simply is simple is not
to close
to open
to get the maestro out
