Don't Look Back

Tide swallowed our silver song oceans ago
on barefoot sand...I walk
...the sea swallowing
the trails I leave behind

It Grows Back

Black lashes
blown off of a fingerpad that throbs
in tandem with an overharvested eyelid
flit to the floor—
wasted wishes
manufacted in mockery of dandelion's dance.

Keratin cracks
beneath the pressure of enamel,
exposing weak, watery skin
on trembling fingertips—
nervous nibbles
evolved into voracious, cannibalistic cravings.

Though hope
fractures under the weight of repugnant gazes
and my unsightly nubs grasp blindly for pigments to suppress
these habitual shames—
flesh forgives
more than the self, and, like a forest after a fire, it grows back.

It always grows back.

Bouncing Back

Graduation, that longed for event
Emitting a tense excitement
With families so proud
Their head in a cloud
But fate rarely gives us a hint

At last it was my turn to soar
Speech in hand, 'cross that stage I roar
Fell down, jumped up fine
Changed my opening line
To "I'm sure gonna miss this stage floor."

Back to Reality

Utmost excitement
Couldn't erase my dark moments;
Gravity dragged me...

The Stumble and Rise

There once lived a colleague called James,
Lean, strolling in crowd without shame,
He tripped on a crack
Fell flat on his back
Then bounced up and said, "It`s a game!"

Aping back to days of yore

Time was when apes stood up on twos,
Gained height to hail human-like hues.
Today, back to all four,
Backward to times of yore,
Calling it Quodrobics--
(Fancy calisthenics?),
Bored, man’s looking for an excuse--
Any a fancy trick
From blue to get a kick
To liven his dull life lived loose!

Note: Quadrobics (calisthenics using all four limbs), a new-fangled revolution in fitness aiming to bring to fore the animal lying latent in human beings. A fresh new concept in exercise in which people copy animal like lifestyle-- walking, jumping on all the four limbs, even climbing trees bare-footed with no modern equipment. Wonder, what not a bored man would do to alleviate his tedium, monotony, and ennui of life!

To my lower Self

Come back to the refuge; Lets take a trip inside. No shadow can see you here, the perfect place to hide. Come back to the refuge, the largest space of all. Theres room for all your hopes and dreams, so you can bring them all. Come back to the refuge, there's power you can find; Silence is the kingdom, lost somewhere behind your mind. Come back to the refuge, the great ones wait for you; Through white light to fields of green, and skies the bluest blue; Come back to the refuge, I know its been a while, but time's a lie, so please dont sigh - just come back with a smile! Come back to the refuge, do you still know the way? Let go of thinking without any effort, and sit like that today. Come back to the refuge, put down those heavy bags! The present is a gift, it doesnt matter how its wrapped. Come back to the refuge, the journey is alone; But once your near, youl feel me here; Because the refuge is my home... Signed - HIGHER SELF.

Premium Member The straw that breaks the camel's back

I run in circles all day long
doing a heap of chores and
getting things done
but I'll tell you what I truly find exhausting.
It's the waiting and not knowing,
it sets me back and slows me down.
It frustrates me to the bitter end.

Instead of multitasking
I end up multimasking
juggling and pretending
to be the patient person
that I'm really not.

Premium Member Take It Back

If I could take it back the bad
Know that I would do so fast
Retrieve every hurtful word
Before the hatred was amassed

We would go back to the timel
Our love was perfect and fun
And you'd look at me and smile
Before all of the bad was done

To there never being any fights
When it was happiness and love
Do you remember being that way
Before the anger rained from above

We thought we'd be together forever
But now I guess we'll never tell
Because somewhere along the way
Our love was turned into hell

Back to Basics

When all the rust takes over and our final structure falls
When that wood has finally rotted and the final trumpet calls
When the last day here on earth has then become your first
There will only be one way to quench that human thirst

When the light here starts to fade and your eyes are growing dim
When our thoughts can quickly turn, to this world away from him
When the last thing that we hear is the first we start to see
If you get lost in the forest, simply focus on the tree

His blood has now been shed, and his sacrifice was made
He suffered and died for us, for our debt to be fully paid
There is no greater love than what God has given and sent
Harden not your heart, accept the truth and then repent

None of us are perfect and worthy we are not
We repeat the same old sins and squander what we’ve got
Just remember what I tell you as you watch the sunset fall
Jesus Christ died for our sins, and his blood was shed for all

Back It Up

I hear the way you talk
of your friends without end,
the gossip goes on non-stop,
about them and their men,
so vicious the things you say,
shock to see, candidly,
imagine what you must claim
about me, when you’re free…

Back it up,
take that sh-t elsewhere,
woman, I no longer care.
Pack it up,
The drama I’ll spare,
woman, I no longer care.

Eyes sparkle when thing go wrong,
like a beast set to feast,
all the chaos makes you strong,
that you seek, like a treat.
Relish when your friends get rough,
their beak-ups, you just love,
you can never get enough,
in your gut need this stuff.

Back it up,
take that sh-t elsewhere,
woman, I no longer care.
Pack it up,
the drama I’ll spare,
woman, I no longer care.

I see your words and lies
going around everywhere,
it makes you feel alive,
when all their mistakes you blare.
Makes you think you’re better,
your ego is a damn addict,
go peddle it online,
I have got no time for this.

Back it up,
take that sh-t elsewhere,
woman, I no longer care.
Pack it up,
the drama I’ll spare,
woman, I no longer care.

It will only end in despair.

Premium Member Go Back To The Beginning

That song sounds so good,
Go back to the beginning,
Reminisce moments of childhood
All while rhythymically dancing.

That story sounds so good,
Go back to the beginning,
Retell how you done all you could
All while laughing while crying.

That speech sounds so good,
Go back to the beginning,
Reenact every word you should
All while proudly standing.

That story sounded so good,
Go back to the beginning,
Recollect all the ways you would
Once again relive everything.

Counting Back

My Chronology
ages
as my writing
stays young

The years
in retreat
as each new song
is sung

A number
but unit
of folly
relayed

Whose essence
a symbol
of prescience
— in play

Premium Member back in the day

back in the day
we polished our shoes
laid out our clothes
put our hair up in curls with pointy picks
on Saturday nights

back in the day
it was church every Sunday
chicken or beef with noodles for lunch
always pie, cake and Jello
then a visit to grandma’s house

back in the day
we ironed our clothes
using sprinkled starch
dressed up to go on airplanes
purposefully did not swear
felt safe at school

back in the day
