Premium Member Cat in the Microwave

In Devon, Gina was mad at Sarah and so
Took Sarah's kitten, to the kitchen did go
Put it the microwave, pushed the button in
Kitten died in pain, I'd call that a sin.

Two teens in Juniata did the same as a prank
For them its fun, but to me it stank.
Is it something missing in the mind, or converse
A dark side that drives their morals in reverse?

Two teens in Alberta broke into a home, so brave
Smashed it up, put the cat in a microwave
Listened to it scream in pain before it died
Painted two mocking messages on the side.

Two teen girls in Maine put a cat - guess where:
They made a video on social media to share
Sharing cruelty is not very bright
Not every agrees that such deeds are right.

These humans got into trouble, because not all agree:
That fun with cats goes with humanity.
And yet, I eat animals every day
I put out mouse traps, throw dead mice away.

I guess the difference is that I don't want to cause pain
But some people do, though not clinically insane
Its part of the human condition that they are out there
Know your surroundings, take heed and take care.

There are times when nobody can save
You could be that cat in the microwave.

Premium Member Green Needs

Indigo moods within my chest
Not choosing foods like chicken breast
I’m gently beginning vegetarians quest
And I’m pretty hungry I must confess

I still eat butter I still eat cheese
So I’m not exactly following lead
Of strict vegans who’d turn up nose
Because I haven’t let dairy go

Now I do enjoy almond milk
The taste of cows milk makes me ill
Maybe it’s ok in bread or cake
But for cereal almond milk is the way

When I think of my daily meal
I avoid how slaughtered animals feel
Chalk it up to nature and green needs
Ignoring the facts of animal cruelty

My monk friend is a vegetarian who
Even prays for people and animals too
I don’t think I’m as strong as she
But bit by bit I’m changing how I eat

In the News Today Texas

In the News Today

How much water does a soldier’s water bottle contain?
Do we need to know, or do we want to know? Probably not
Whatever it is, the secret will be exposed when a young
man is handed the keys to the safe.
90 % of secrets are trivial, filling up electronic air-ways
The 10% tells us of the skullduggery leaders are up to
Self-important, but dangerous fools they are.
What shocked me in the news this morning was what
happened in Texas, when 18000 cows were killed in
a fire; how was this tragedy possible?
Are the milking cows kept indoors in a gigantic barn
while the grass grows on the prairies? But I think
This is animal cruelty on a massive scale
should we drink milk from animals to avoid this
catastrophe from happening? I fear this will occur again
we are the destroyers of a beautiful planet that have
room for all living beings.

Premium Member Animal Cruelty

animal
     cruelty makes
          me sick...

to my stomach!
      quite abhorrent and
          upsetting...

to see
     such a poor,
          helpless...

animal
     in distress
          and being mistreated...

by uncaring owners.
     what...
          a total outrage!

Premium Member A Spirit Broke - Animal Cruelty

Her body full of broken bones, a spirit broke
Her eyes dull, fail in gratitude to your stroke

Fragile and emaciated, as starved from food
Life not worth living so to death didn’t elude

Refusing to eat or drink, with eyes duller still
No gentle words from us all gave her any will

So, we placed an abandoned pup by her side
On hearing it whimper her eyes opened wide

And to her pain she arose to that pup's cries
For the first time, hope was seen in her eyes

Giving them time, and that time was enough
Put her under; then the surgeon did his stuff

Every broken bone repaired we left her to lie
Her love now for a pup she didn't want to die

We left the abandoned puppy next to her side
To give her more hope once opening her eyes

Her faith in humans lost was now found again
Gaining a little puppy dog took away her pain

Once put up for adoption, both went as a pair
To a loving family, with so much love to share

Her name became Serenity, and the pup Hope
Mending two hearts that were otherwise broke

Premium Member Finish Lines

The toys sit idle….the cat and the kids play in the boxes.

Deer paw the frozen ground…. the sparrows hope.

Old church pews creak under the weight… of the season.

A line forms at the homeless shelter….table for all.

A dog in an ugly sweater….animal cruelty.

An old man sits….unaware.

A child is born in poverty…..wrapped in an old coat.

A song dances across the ice…unheard.

Santa Clause sleeps in his chair….sadly smiling.

Tomorrow, today’s joy … returned.

BEYOND THE NICETIES OF CHRISTMAS Poetry Contest

Speed

Once I worked for 'tcouncil sweepin streets and diggin' 'oles,
and was quite contented fulfillin' both these roles.
But like many workers I weren't inclined to rush,
'specially while in't gutter sweepin' streets by pushin' brush.

Then one day while workin' I found myself outside the law.
'cos a lady went to coppers and told 'em what she saw.
It seems that by her standards I was well beyond the pale,
she told the cops she'd seen me stampin' on a snail.

And so a few days later I found myself in court,
the beak looked down and said to me you seem a decent sort.
The charge is animal cruelty what have you got to say?,
I done it Judge I told 'im 'cos he'd followed me round all day.

Horsemother

Oh, great horsemother in the sky,
Here is a question from a bard, such as I!
Are you shooting a racing vet today?
Another horse was destroyed for gain,
This is, of course,
A personal hobby horse,
If a horse gallops anyway,
Why are you whipping them this way?
This is the sport of kings, you see,
Death for a horse, if not its jockey,
Sounds to me like animal cruelty,
Racegoers turn the other way,
Drink some more best champagne,
This is question, better yet,
Does horsemother ever shoot the vet?

Premium Member Animals Deserve Better

An animal deserves to be treated right
Whether it be wild or has taken fright
It shouldn't be harmed or left alone
If it's a domestic it needs a home

It needs love and people who care
Not to be beaten or thrown down the stairs
Abandoned and left to fend for themselves
How wrong it is to be left on the shelves

Tied up in bags and dumped on the ground
Left there to die and not make a sound
They've done nothing wrong just misunderstood
Help them live and remove that hood

Show them love and a smiling face
We are not evil we're a human race
Animals deserve life after all
So save that dog and throw them a ball

It's not a big ask to show support
For animal cruelty is not a sport

Premium Member My Perfect World

In my perfect world there would be no guns,
        or bombs, no terrorists and no wars;
we would bring our soldiers home alive,
no poverty or abuse would exist.

    Love, freedom, happiness for everyone,
        Kindness-   falling from all lips;
All children, boys and girls would be educated,
The environment free of all pollution.

Animal cruelty- a thing of the past,
But I am just a girl, a tiny speck in this world;
Yet, I have a mighty voice to speak,
Please save this world before it is too late.

I write letters, make a speech, donate time,
    Help one person that I happen upon;
Pray for a cure to all diseases,
Support those who suffer seeking a tranquil death.

Hate

11/17/15 Hate

I used to think I couldn’t hate
Well, not like this or that person
Their hate sounded hateful
“I hate when the dish washer doesn’t use hot water!”
“I’ll kill you if you don’t stay out of my business!”
“I hate lying, cheating, stealing…but (under his breath) not fornication”
“I hate animal cruelty”
“I hate slavery”
It was caused by misunderstanding
Fruitlessness and disgust and judgments
My thinking that way was tenuous at best
My hate came late
With the power of living in my own apartment
 I hate the shyster
I hate the lazy
I hate the unforgiveness owed by us all
I hate the disobedience
I hate that we cannot always know
Or see
Or feel
Or be
Hate-free…

Animal Cruelty

I watched a shocking video today,
It’s an example of animal cruelty,
A variety of them killed without mercy,
Skinned to the bones while it breathing heavily.

A heart with no soul for doing this activity,
They are so scared shouting for their last day,
Pool of blood pouring to the ground of hell,
Small voices of dying animals, furs will sell.

The savaged men tossed them to the side,
A mountain of bloody creatures for sacrifice,
Looking at them begging to stop this inhumane act,
It breaks my heart and tears flowing down in fact.

The best thing we can do is to pray,
Show our love to animals every day,
Be vigilant, be concern, and do your share,
They are God’s creation, please show your care.

10 Things I Deplore

The ten most things that I deplore
the unfairness of rich and poor
wasted food in a hungry world
wars which left so many killed
animal cruelty in the name of fashion
*********** which has no passion
post card snow that turns to slush
the madness of the morning rush
poverty and starvation
but most of all, the greed of man
