saw a raptor glide down today
toward the tree line of my forest
I wondered at his purpose
was he hunting or merely loving life?
I marveled at his glide

Fumbled through the fragrant

A Leonine Moment (2003)

Yellow lion teeth like petals of love
I picked the green savannah grass,
It had just stopped raining and pearls,
as a glass bead around a cub's neck,
glinted in the sun that had been hiding
behind rain pregnant clouds, thunder
and lightning; far away, I heard
A lion's roar, inconsolable was its loss.

The following poem posted about a half hour before the bewitching hour that spelled calamity (which though a freaky Friday the thirteenth) did (nor does) not find me exceptionally superstitious, and rather than wait for the morrow, I feel so pent up

He whirred around for quite some time
hounding his stubby runt tail
copious spittle, a flying trail
coating the walls with sticky slime;
before stopping, panting a spell
then restarting counterclockwise 
as if it would less tantalize;

Ode To The Bin That Betrayed Me

In moonlight's hush, beneath the elm,  
A masked marauder stalks his realm.  
With paws like whispers, eyes like coal,  
He seeks the prize that fills his soul.

But lo! The bin—his ancient foe—  
Stands smug, unyielding, sealed in woe.  
Its lid, a tyrant, cold and tight,  
Dares mock his hunger
