Grief

"a dagger of pain, a tear of grief" Quote by _Constance La France

The food in the county jail is horrible
but it's not worse than the pain in my heart
She left me, running for the hills
which tore myself apart

I am here and I am lonely
It's just me and my cat
She comforts my sorrows for me
and her companionship does much more than that

But can an animal, a pet,
replace the love one of which was human
Can the pain of loss ever be repaired
like embellishing a plate with cumin

Grief has accompanied me to the bridges
The height of which I yearn to leap
But I hold out for my lady may once return
And that would be the most awesome feat

The last four lines are awe-filled, all the same, optimism filled. Beautifully written. Congratulations!
