Premium Member Contrast This And That

Pause, consider, and think about this.
Some rich people invest and spend.
Some poor people wish and spend.
Short people reach up.
Tall people bend down.

Good habits beget good results.
Bad habits render bad results.
Bad beginnings often end well.
Bad endings force 'look-backs'.

You cannot withdraw something
that has not been deposited.
We usually reap what we have sown.
Sometimes, favor suspends the norm.

When adding it all up,
At the end of the day,
I'd rather be home with
A happy wife and 500 miles

Removed from disappointed
Siblings, rather than being alienated
From a pouting, unhappy wife, while
Enjoying happy, celebrating siblings.
Stop, meditate, and muse about that.

And That Was It

So this is how it ends, then —
Not with thunder, not with rain,
But with a sentence cold and plain,
And me, standing in the ache again.

I had said, “This is my last try,”
With every ounce of love and cry,
Swore on the ones I hold most dear,
Still, you chose to disappear.

You didn’t fight, not even flinch,
You let it go — inch by inch.
As if the story we once wrote
Was just a name you’d learn to misquote.

No tremble in your final word,
No echo of the love I heard.
While I held fire in both my hands,
You watched it burn without a glance.

Do you know what silence costs?
What it means to grieve what's lost?
Not death — just absence wearing skin,
The kind of void that screams within.

But I won't beg. I never will.
A promise made, a heart gone still.
You made your choice. I made mine too —
To live a life untouched by you.

Premium Member Me and that effing flea

I hate it when a flea
takes a liking to me
and keeps darting in front of my eyes.

I try swatting it away,
but she thinks it's play,
and so keeps it up - till she dies.

Premium Member Me And That Dog

Get out of that or I'll skin you alive she would say
Me and that dog would head for the woods right away
We were not abused
Just a saying used
Because me and that dog got a hug at end of day

This and That

Thrilled today

Glad you stayed

Now the day

Feels bright again

Don't be swayed

It's not a game

And if you play

I'll do the same

Lead the way

But not astray

My feet they pave

Only your way

And to you, I say

That all I pray

That you make hay

And If you're away

Our fate's still at play.

Love, you say!

Yes, I'll do the same.

Premium Member The miracle of this and that

Miracles..

All are ordinary

Happenings..

This is it and

So is that..

How might

No-separation

Appear separated

As the ordinary

This and that..?

That's it

The miracle...

Premium Member this and that and thus and such

this and that and thus and such
hearing, seeing, smell, taste, touch
which will old age steal? not much
just this and that and thus and such

will I know beloved ones...
lifelong sweetheart? daughter? sons?
thanking those with whom I've dined
not sure why they've been so kind

in this home but not sure why
who will hold me when I die?
i'm imprisoned by my fear
who will let me out of here?

i have seen it far too much
once sharp minds now losing touch
no more plumb line left to clutch
just this and that and thus and such

Premium Member And That Is War

There’s no film set
There’s no Tom Cruise
Everyone dies
In front of you

And that is war

They give you a gun
Sent off with the meat
Shoot you in the back
Cos we never retreat

And that is war

When you enlist
They tell you it’s great
The army’s job is
Teach you to hate

And that is war

You’re free to kill
You’re free to rape
Do what you like
Coz there’s no escape

And that is war

There’s lots of booze
And a line of coke
Everyone will lose
And that’s the joke

And that is war

Premium Member a bit of this and that

She took a bit of this and a bit of that
Things from the junkyard of Uncle Matt
Put them together and made a giant thing
A lynx, I think said my Cousin Zing

It was a lynx, or a puma or possibly a bobcat.
I was intrigued by this sculpture from junkyard Matt
Zing, I said, it is amazing, unique, clever and phat!
It is amazing that she created it out of this and that.

Premium Member And that my dear is a poem

Many do not love my direct way
They shy from the truth

many just loved my looks
in my happy youth

some liked the achievements i had and wanted in on my fame
And some thought what I did for a living was kiddie stuff and kind of lame

So it's a conundrum you see, when you talk about me
It's up down sideways philosophy

I am never stagnant and forever growing
and the depth of who and what I am is possibility overflowing

I have walked through fire
and I am full of desire

And I create at the drop of a hat
and in minutes spit out a new artistic rap

My muse is now inside me
and fuels me from within

And my life is invigorated
I know I don't live by whim

Its purpose plan and accomplishment
which will drive my final goals

A story to tell the world
that as of yet was untold

And that my dear is a poem 12-4-23 Artimus (C) Susan Manley

Advertising This and That

Advertising this,
And advertising that,
At the drop of a hat,
Is making cats fat,
And enabling wallets to fold flat.

Premium Member Mr Creativity Is This and That

Mr Creativity is daring and bold in each dream
His words as sultry and slick as fresh whipping cream
Is he as handsome and debonair as he thinks, some ask.
I have no response, being honest is a daunting task.

I know he is confident, I say, thinking pompous, and quite tall.
But I don’t know him well enough to make this judgement call
So I nod my head and keep my mouths wisely and tightly shut.
“Mr Creativity is this and that,” says my friend, talking a bit of smut.

Premium Member And That Word Is You

there along the beach you'll find
a word cocooned and its echo lost
in a world within the world within my world

And That Was When Part 8

And that was when
By Day or Night
The Clarity came,
You knew it was time
To wade to the beckoning shore
Through the cold and fear
To the place you started from.

And that was when...
You remembered what you knew.
You felt what you'd forgotten.

Those Days that were Worlds
Opened again before you;
You stepped into the Infinite Light -

And that was when...
Everything started over.
