I wrote since my elementary days, but I stopped..Just lately, maybe brought about by challenging situations and so much free time, I started to write, again....Most of my compositions talk about my day to day thoughts, my reflections, my experiences with the world and with God, events and whatever crosses my mind....It is a transparent "me" and I hope to whoever will read , they will be inspired one way or another..

Most of my compositions are triggered by contests sponsored by the Premium Soup Members, probably joining time to time from these, it developed and enhanced my writing in a way. Anyhow, I always managed to put myself within these poems. I can say that writing poems is now one of my fave hobbies.

I am a learner of poetry. This is definitely shown in my poems, different types and different subjects... I am a Filipina, born August 13, 1986. English is not my native tongue. I render care with all kinds of people regardless of creed, age, religion and race.

Instead of speaking up, I intend to burst it all to poetry and by just singing........................... :) some will criticize as it is full of emotions or its "emo" but it is alright.. :) all I want to do is to express the things, I can't seem to say.

my compositions are my "hide outs", my fantasies,, my dreams and so long yearnings. I don't collect material things as like shoes, books, cds, paintings or so. however, these are my collections: MY POEMS. :)!

Paul Callus is one of my dearest friends in Soup and I know and I believe lots of you will agree with me....

Although, I haven't met him, I have the vives that he is one person who you can trust because he is kind, just, loving and responsible. Yes, I don't know him personally but through our shared mails and talks, I see him as my big brother even. A pleasant and gentle person in giving his comments and suggestions regarding my writing. A constructive critic that's doesn't disregard your thoughts and so... A good listener and more....

On the first contest I sponsored, I asked him to helped me out especially with the technical points such as grammar, punctuations, syntax and so on, because to be honest I am weak on such... I always treat myself as a new one each time I make a new poem of mine. I am presuming he is more qualified than me with such. Both of them is much qualified than me. Besides, you will agree with me if experience wise in writing and so, they have more than me but these two encouraged me to do one. To b Both of the judge I asked them to do their top ten. I was the one who emphasized the one I am looking for from the theme.

I am very humbled that these two poets who I've read randomly and almost all their poems agreed that it will be up to me who is who. They trusted me that like them I will be just.

PAUL DOESN'T LIKE TO BE MENTIONED AS ONE OF THE JUDGE but I insisted to mention his name but not to place him in hot waters but to to distinguish his efforts regarding helping me. He honestly voice that he has seen some poems entered in the contest prior to judging so he is hesitant me mentioning him but I insisted because I presume that no one will react negatively.

To be told, "I don't like you to be friend or so" is hurtful.

Paul said: "I'm dejected and don't even want to hear of Soup or poetry"

I had been experiencing dejection since am a child and I know very well how it feels. I know me or all of us here have experienced such too.

To whoever made him feel such, I hope you will see much more of him than just one mistake, Remember that I more than James or Paul did the decision. Do not blame him or of any. To you, I am sorry if you are upset but I really hope you will see more of Paul.

To Paul( warm hugs), here in Poetrysoup, I am dismayed that such happened and my apologies but I stand to believe lots of us here is friend of yours. We are many compared to only one. My deepest respect to you, Paul. I treasure you as my friend and more. And I believe if s/he is a good friend, s/he will see more, pass with that one mistake ......

Poetrysoup has made my stay in Saudi a bit better. It gave me an avenue to express my thoughts, my reflections and so.. I am glad that I was accepted. My writings are read. I've met few poets from here personally. And to some I consider not just "poets" here but more.

And if the distance just too close, I would love to give them my sincerest appreciation. Once twice I posted that poetrysoup (to the ones I shared much personal informations regarding me), I considered them as my own family not by blood yes but by one medium: creative writing..

Paul Callus is one of my good friends. I know and I believe you too will agree with me. It makes me sad that such event happens. //olive eloisa

I just want to say that I agree fully with Richard's comment, I too have written to a judge to ask why my work was lowly rated, how else can one learn? I too have said things out of line to a souper when i was feeling hurt to my deep regret and chagrin and ruined a friendship. This blog had good intent but all it serves now is division. As Richard said please consider this Olive.

I understand the purpose of encouragement Olive, but I also see how this blog remaining here also added to the feeling of shame felt by one of our own. In the past I too have sent a note to a judge to try and understand a low placement. Poets are passionate and sometimes that passion gets the best of us. I know you to have a kind heart, I hope you take these thoughts into consideration.

:) Hello, OLIVE... Stopped by to say hi:) I like to think of Paul, as the quiet one. ((he sees everything)) We have a silent friendship. However, I will pop-up on his poems like an advertisement. LOL, he knows, I will reply to anyone who comments my comment. Sometimes, I think he does it on purpose, just to get an extra smile out of me. :) I admire him. However, Paul and Maurice are the only male poets, I consider good hearted and don't judge one's popularity. I find it fun when associating with them on the soup. Anyways, back to Paul. He' has a beautiful poetry personality. Nathan D. Thinks he's awesome and has high respect for him. I hope this is not a negative blog. I'd hate to think he's sitting this one out. :( As for Jade, I don't know what is going on. However, I feel her pain. In a way, this blog is hurtful. Not that you are doing it deliberately. But, you are pointing out an issue, that she was involved in :( Jade is a fierce and honest poet. She stands up for herself, I don't see anything wrong in approaching a judge about their placements. In the past, I have had the finest poets approach me when they don't place in my contest. Hey, you can't win them all! Especially, when the poems they keep entering, are an image of the last poem they submitted in my last contest. In other words, I like it when a poet' can freestyle any form from the heart. Thier's a lady who loves to join my contest. Sometimes she will place other times she won't. She questioned my actions. I never got the chance to tell her why?? I allowed her to think I did not like her poetry. (shame on me) I think she's an outstanding poet. Sometimes it's a little too much for the simple contest I run. I do not place poems that consist a generic feeling that's been felt in their readings before, I don't place poems that are predictable. ((by that I mean, I look at a poem, and I know exactly who wrote it)) . I'm not looking for perfect. Just interesting :) We are here, so please when entering my contest.. Don't use words, that clash a good poem. I'm too lazy to open a dictionary. I don't like following metrical poems. I am happy many choose not to participate in my contest. Better for me!! JUST KIDDING.... I'm all contest OUT!!!

Paul is from Malta - I met him and his family last year - the most charming man you could wish to meet I felt like I had known him all my life - they were all there at the airport to say goodbye - will meet again later on this year:-) I hope he is back with us soon:-) Hugs Jan xx

Paul has always been a kind supporter when our paths have crossed....and thought of highly by friends here i respect immensely....I have seen little fires flare up here thru the yrs.....been in a couple meself.....all involved below are good folks....i don't even know the issue! i arrive at my deli early ea. am & end the evening catering dinners for accounts...time is limited.....then wkends take care of Ma (she needs a valve, but risky) but i do peek in frequently.....keep peace alive...love you guys, i really do...jimbo

Paul is the best, you are so right Olive kind, knowledgeable, sincere, I would adore meeting him but we are continents apart. Olive everyone who tries to judge get some 'sour grapes' and each of us who 'loose' (even if only in our own minds) sometimes write the judge to question- hopefully ask what to do better next time. The wonderful thing about contests! No one has a divine right to win even if we think or other commenters think our poem worthy. I'm so glad Olive took the plunge to host her first contest, and what a lovely contest it was. We all know that English isn't Olive's core language, but boy she's come on leaps and bounds on this site, her poetry is testament to this. Regarding being asked to help, I was delighted to help out, and also asking Paul, fantastic. Back to contests, it's about time we took such hits on the chin and acted accordingly. James, I do feel the need to address your post here. My issue was the placement given by someone whom I care a great deal about and who always has encouraging comments to say on my poetry. That was what hurt. I get your comment about "it being time to take hits on the chin and act accordingly." I get that. I rarely join contests. I know my limitations in this respect. I just didn't expect such a low placement with Paul on the panel of judges. That's all. Comment taken and noted.
