Write Me a Poem

The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. And He scatters His poems below and above. You can see a poem singing on a tree branch at dawn, or falling down as dew on a neighbor's next door lawn. There's a poem in a soldier's returning smile, as he hugs his wife and newborn baby child. You can see a poem in the heaven's stars at night. Or, in a brilliant sunrise with silver flashing lights. Poems are everywhere you look, but unseen by others, like an unopened book. A poet will see a poem, throughout the earth and sky. So aren't you glad God gave you a poet's observant eye! Notice that poem lying in broken shards of glass, shimmering blue in the sun, as you look while walking pass. Or, watch the wind playing with falling autumn leaves. Then see Summertime's magic, or in Winter's snow white freeze. Poem's sit there, waiting for you to pick up your pen and write about earth's beauty, displayed like flowers in plain sight. Don't you see that poem, walking down the street, sitting on a bus bench, or grabbing a bite to eat? Poems gurgle in bubbling brooks. They hide under rocks and inside your books. At breakfast, they cry out to you, "Here I am! Taste me! I'm the blackberry in your jam." So write me a poem and I'll write one, too. And don't tell me you can't find one, it's staring right at you! -------------------------------------------------------------------- For SKAT A Contest Any old poem #10 2014 poem

Darlene: I have commented on this poem already. I just want you to know: I wrote my little rhymes for 8 years and struggled to get anyone to read them. I found Poetry Soup and since then, If I post it someone will read it and offer a kind word. Friends comments are worth far more than prizes. :o) oldbuck

Yes, of course I agree. But I still like competing. And I'm so glad we connected with one another. Hope you stay with us this time and please don't feel you have to comment. Only when you want to. Blessings, Darlene

Darlene: This should be required reading by all poets at least once a year. Thanks for sharing this encouragement with all of us. oldbuck

Well the contest is over where I entered this poem and it didn't even get a mention, it was completely overlooked. I guess it just was not to the judge's liking. But as long as you and the others liked it, then I think it was worth writing and sharing here on poetrysoup. Blessings, Darlene

Hi, Rachel, I'm glad you found it. This one has been entered in a contest and the results should be out soon. Contests are fun to enter. I hope you will soon enter one yourself. I hope for the best, but am prepared for whatever rating the judge or judges gives. Blessings, Darlene

Thank you, Arlene. This poem was written months ago and I had forgotten all about it! So I was happy to see it again and glad you enjoyed it. Maybe I'll put it in a future contest and see how it does. Blessings, Darlene

:) :) Oh...what a lovely poem about poems! Yes, poems are everywhere. You have so aptly captured the different places where they hide. Also...I liked the poem walking down the street, or the one in my blackberry jam. How sweet! That first stanza is full of wonder! Yes, God is the great giver of all good things, even poetry. Thank you for your lovely Christmas wishes...I wish you the same. God bless!

Thank you so much, Eileen, for commenting on this poem with so many positive things to say. But I guess you are the only one to think so, because I have received about 50 views and no comments until yours. I was thinking of deleting it and then doing a rewrite. But now I'll wait just awhile longer before I do that. Your feedback was precious to hear. Thanks, again, Darlene
