1 original, poem on the theme of
Quietus (poetry form)
I’m having fun with this form, which kind of came to me. I call it Quietus.
Please read and understand the Quietus form carefully.
First stanza is a quatrain with 8-6-8-6 syllable count in end rhyme abab +
Followed by 6-6-6 syllable count tercet, end rhyme ccc +
Concluded by an equal syllable count rhyming couplet using refrain (any length as of poet’s choice) beginning from from first word of the first line, as the last line of the poem
The refrain is also the poem title
Examples: I’ve written several by now, which you can check out if you wish by typing ‘quietus’ in search / advanced poem search. A few examples are:

The Quietus form is not recognised, so just list it under Rhyme. Please center your poem - looks better that way. Below poem please put the date and under it write 'Quietus'
Topic - any line of contemplative reflection on matters close to your heart. It must be harmonious with the poem title you choose.
Syllables: For syllables check I’ll be using Poetry Soup syllable counter. In case of discrepancy (example - if the syllable counter misreads ‘blossoming’ 3 syllables as ‘blooming’ 2 syllables), please elaborate at bottom of poem, under the date.
Rhymes: I’m not finicky about rhymes, it can be a near rhyme, if it sounds phonetically right, it’s ok. You can use a few words from other languages too, if relevant to context but in that case, please explain the meaning at the bottom of the poem, below the date. I don’t want to have to Google the meaning!
Contest and sponsor name may or may not be mentioned, as you wish.
Have fun!
