Premium MemberThe Jagged Edges

The skyline cuts through faded tones,
With moonglow blazing gilded bronze
And fluid my ink is interlaid
As nightfall drifts like a peace shroud
The glass pane teeters in the breeze
With my pen zigzagging on damp papyrus

I hear an old couple laugh on the alley
Their banter rolling , perhaps, of younger times--
Across them, a lone man trots, forlorn
His bent spine enduring road's travail,
Leading his wobbly feet to tangles of blooms
While egrets scuffle homeward bound.

My mixed thoughts wander at this picture show
       ...Receding off so gradually
From the tip- tap screech of cobblestones
To my pane's sill, fingers reach for verses
Where each day is a page to write new stories
About jagged yet sleek edges of time's folly
My hands sinking into tattered phrases, kneading

Recitals of life with unknown episodes.

Premium MemberWild is the Night

Almost Afraid to close my eyes,
thumping heart, in tune with the pounding on the window pane.
Wonder if it’s hail.? Sounds like hail.
great dazzling flashes, strobe lighting, zigzagging.
Striated streaks of pure silver, illuminations gone mad
“One elephant”. “two elephants” three …..
Third elephant never made it
Crack and shatter, breaking, and rolling
close, too close,
I fear for the roof
Or the old jacaranda in the backyard
branches whipped into a frenzy by the ferocious blast .
How many miles an hour. ?
Howling, howling over every other noise,
Blaring car alarms, screeching, faintly heard.
There goes the jacaranda, and the back fence.
Hope the neighbours are okay.
Lord have mercy on anyone abroad tonight.
Hide under the covers
It will soon pass

The Hunter and the Doe

Her story is hidden in every third word.

Our hunter sought deer. He tracked silently while he bounded over brooks, away, into woods, zigzagging amongst trees, through undergrowth, while the doe jumped dense thickets ahead. Forest birds screeched and took flight, evading chance of danger. It was her he tracked. Instinct and guile kept him focussed. Her near silence ahead bewitched him: She seemed so rested as she quietly evaded him. In between moments a cool breeze, hidden, opened a spot. She was watching, unmoving as the arrow left hunter - aimed well, but hitting wood. She waited. He slipped another shaft into his bow. The forest waited, hushed. He sensed depths as eyes of each met. The arrow stayed; woodland breathed again.

"Nature’s sermon laced with bouquet lusciousness of colors and fragrance unfolds spiritual inspiration." Quote by poet

Lingering lazy moon
A luster on the eve of June
Plays a peace-making tune
As butterfly wings soon
Emerge from its cocoon.

Yellow bumblebees prefer to dine
And promenade upon fine
Yellow black-eyed Susan vine.
Zigzagging playfully always align
Sweet flora ambrosia most divine.

Wakeful dawn first breath light
Fluttering bird’s wings flight
Under breaking clouds height.
Good-bye! Good-bye out of sight
Natures harmony and rhythm plight.

A Tapestry

A tear in his heart, zigzagging on his own two feet, he combed through his emotions, back and forth, up and down, he was apprehensive but hopeful. A silver lining, A thread to keep him bound. Pray.

The hands that cut and sewed this fabric tell a story of a life left behind, a story of new beginnings. The hands that have gifted me this tell a story of growing up in the 60s and 70s, a chapter yet to be written; a hope to one day visit the fatherland. Then there is me, I. A story of a move across the pennines sculpting out a new home. And then there is them, a story of siblings, of two brothers bobbin through 'toddler-hood', weaving through the lives of people and places, ironed in, quilted. A story in the unfolding.

The seams held together, hemmed in memories, a web of stories that blend, woven through faith, gathered in prayer, entwined knots; A family fabric

lacksidasical larry leaps lovingly through the air
making mincemeat marauders truly want to care
nine nefarious nigglebuns are trying not to stare
outrageously outstandingly outrunning marathon mare

providing pristine plots to princely priestly pree
quizzing quality quails wondering why I am free
resident ruffians reaching residual responsibility
stressing strenuous starlight studies under thee

tricky trustworthy triple treats tripping up and down the bay
understanding understudy underlings trying to have their say
visualizing various viillains we often meet along the way
‘xoecting ‘xact ‘xasperating ‘xersizes to save the day
zany zigzagging zealots zipping into the fray

Prisms

Angilar Shadows

Beams of light peeking through reflections

Cheerfully dancing over the walls and floors

Dipping to and fro in solar refractions

Every light building a tapestry if wonder

Fairylike flits of gold and silver

Gathering at certain points and then dispersing

Hiding in corners and cracks and then reappearing

Idly forming circles of synchronistic power

Just as it begins to rain and the dance ceases

Kindly replaced by shadows of raindrops instead

Like a dreary grey curtain with sound effects

Mastering the sound of light hoofbeats on the roof

Never-ending payyering on the wimdows

Out comes the sun again and the joy returns

Prisms pf multi-colored made me smile

Quitely returmimh in their silemt dance

Reeling in patterns of kaleidoscope

Shimmering images in bright welcome

The changing colors made me smile

Undeniably I will be sad when the sun goes down

Violets, golds, silvers, greens and yellows

Will be departing and resting for the night

Xtras will be arriving when the moonbeams shine

Yellow sends silver amd the commence the dance

Zigzagging across the walls again

Premium MemberLove's Dance

Dance the tortuous path of love with me,
explore nuances of the different roads,
some snake upwards towards lofty thrills
others zigzagging downwards in despair.
Together though we can construe
a life exhilarating and true
as we wander together in wondrous ways
enjoy the beauty of a laudable life,
build a base to face the storms of love,
and like a sparkling mountain stream
face all the currents that cross our life.
Let us find comfort in each other's arms,
when grief crosses our meandering paths,
for the stream winds and turns
and a new page of life pleasantly begins
Let us laugh together at our mistakes
for in laughter, we find strength
and ostracize despair from our love.

Premium MemberCherry Blossoms

“Cherry Blossoms”.

 Cherry Blossoms
 Pink
 With smiles, Of innocence.
 flutter,
 and flutter,
 waltzing,
 with the breeze,
 as if ?
 Dancing on a slack line,
 without Mercy,
 Trying desperately….

 not to sneeze.
 And fall….. too soon,
 Falling, falling, zigzagging,
 Into the arms of spring.
 And as fate decrees,
 at Last surrendering…..
 To,
 Newtons Third law.
All Quiet on the Western Front.

Premium MemberCruel and Friendly Cloud Dilemma

Forms most enormous seen from our earth,
Dwarf the tallest, the grandest of mountains’ girth.
Magnificent spectacles rounded up in the sky:
Sculptured foam, floating frothy, towering high.

Black ominous clouds of malevolent breadth,
Funnels of doom, destruction, and death,
Whirling and wheeling, zigzagging tyrants
Twisting down alleyways, roaring in rants.

Scalloped and mackerel in all shades and hues,
Textured cloud patterns, sunlit paintings to view.
Imagined likenesses of earthlings below;
They dwarf us, impress us, then just fade away.

Menacing, magnificent, visual delight:
Dilemmas of wonder any day, any night.

Premium MemberContemplate

That I could soar and glide effortlessly
o'er snow-capped colossal mountains,
watch my visionary dreams pile up and up,
contemplate the winding harrowing paths
that led to chilly but charming cascades,
with their aquatic pleasures, all exquisite bliss.

How my exuberant heart would delightfully sigh
like a whispering zigzagging mountain breeze!
Would it lose its rhythmic beat, as it grows taut with desire?
Its moans echo among the vales and crevices,
while meadows are covered with yellowish narcissus
all fanning fragrant and sweet perfumes.
So I sat still and contemplate the beauty of life.

Premium MemberStudying Bills Canvas

In colors this canvas reminds me of our plastic card table cover
The one in reds and blacks that helped us to learn bridge
Mom did not need it; she was an avid bridge player
But Daddy and the rest of us did. This is what I saw on first glance.
I had not thought of this card table cover in fifty years!

Next I spied my usual doddles – swirls, whorls, dragon zigzagging spikes
This looks like what I do when I am held hostage on a phone call
Usually by my great aunt, but sometimes by a wordy neighbor
Doodling on speed, is how I think about it.
If I had a nickel for every one of these I have drawn!

The blacks and whites are prominent.
Bits of red seem intentional, not as accidental as the lines.
Not sure where the greenish yellow color came from
Something mixed up by the artist perhaps,
Unsure if it even has a name.
