It comes like the message unsent
It didn’t disappear, at least
The time we saved was unspent
Just tell it like it is
There’s no need in the deep insight
Better put your face to the breeze
A miracle, happening every night
Just tell it like it is
No fancy words can describe
The love that turns out like this
I’m here, but you’re out of sight
Tell it like it really is
Goodnight, it’s time to go now
Our lullaby I woefully miss
I believe you see me somehow
Just tell it like it is..

Always to remember
Stillness, silence marks the day
Where out in the fields bodies did decay
Row upon row of entitled tombs
A baby was once in her womb
Always to remember
The sky ablaze, succumbing to smoke
Into the earth, blood did soak
Pitiless players in the night
Who would return to fly his son’s kite
Always to remember
We did fight unfanciful, all the same
The devil’s unsanctimonious game
Until the bitter bloody end
Over the trench, more troops they did send
Always to remember
Shot in a merciless way
Man upon man in a bloodbath they lay
Crows did swarm the defeated field
Neither side wanting to yield
Always to remember
Woefully but wilfully poppies worn for the respected occasion
To church for the service without much persuasion
Over the top, but with the last gunshot
The fighting did stop
Always to remember

More vacuous verse to the void:
abysmal, of meaning devoid.
A reflexive spasm
sends more to the chasm
where anemic arts are destroyed.
Escaping, strange thoughts from my head
go written but largely unread.
Another deposit
to add to the closet
of words that are better unsaid.
So, in the crevasse this now lurks
with woefully wonderless works:
discursive digressions
regarding obsessions
with muses and quixotic quirks.

"Oh, my dear, when will you lose that kirsh kabir?" I say woefully.
"When we go to the gym, dear," He said sentimentally.
Eventually they had made love with their own bodies.

My longing for love was so lethal
I swear on the lasting love
I went looking for love everywhere…
but found love nowhere.
I was so woefully wounded
I swear on severed spirit
I went searching for salve everywhere…
and found panacea nowhere.
I severely sought salvation
I swear on all saints
I set sail on seven seas everywhere
and found sanctuary nowhere.

THE WORD vs THE WORLD
Wise words wield weapons versus woeful worldly woes.
Wondrous words wage war against woeful worlds
Wielding wisdom, wit, and worthy worth.
Words weave witty wisdom, warding-off worldly oath.4
While worldly woes wage war, woefully weak,
Words, wise & witty, win wars even in one week,
Wounding woeful worlds with wondrous might.
Wonder-working words wards off world's dark light.8
Words, the worthy weapon, wielded with great care
Will wage war against the woeful, wicked sphere.
Wise wonderful words work wonders here & there,
Waring with the woeful, wicked world's leer.¹²
Words, the worthy warriors, win the war
Waging peace & wearing wisdom with much flair.
Words, the wonderful wand, still work wonders here,
Winning worlds with wonder, beyond compare.¹6

I heard a song, so sweet it rhymed,
Below the ground, nah! above the sky,
Echoes of purr woefully chimed,
Seducing me, nah! fiddling a fly!
Again, my day ends in pretty blue,
Behind the log, her paean bloom,
Again, my day bloom in her meow,
Behind the wall echoes resume.
Within the walls my feline trapped,
Me, a fool, savouring her last cry,
Within my reach the singer pined,
Sang the melody, for me to buy!
Oh God, let her spirit sour high,
I the sinner, never deny!

She gently climbed upon my lap,
A nine-year-old with curly blonde hair,
Waking me from a pleasant nap,
And said, “Daddy, I want to know why.”
Tearing sleepy cobwebs away,
Her words echoed through my groggy head,
My dear one, What was that you said?
I said, “Daddy, I want to know why.”
Why did Jesus die on the cross?
Why did God choose to live everywhere?
Why do we say the Lord’s prayer?
Why do you kneel with me when I pray?
With questions of what, how, and when,
So simple and yet very intense,
I pondered how could I begin,
These questions went beyond common sense.
I realized how unprepared,
Just how shallow my understanding,
About things I tritely declared,
And, woefully, left some answers pending.
I spoke to God about my pain,
And prayed that He would forgive my faults,
Help me ne’er to falter again,
To tell my child what the Bible taught.
These questions aren’t easy at all,
Answers aren’t to be taken lightly,
Children don’t want to be stonewalled,
So tell them lovingly, tell them rightly.

Dementia 2
Miracle Man
10/14/2023
They listen, not understanding,
and often give you a stare.
Seems dementia is hardest/cruelest,
on those forced into giving care.
Each day is spent explaining,
like the previous day spent.
And most all conversations,
consist of what someone meant.
They can’t make a decision,
even to save their own life.
One needs understanding,
when patience isn’t rife.
Few things are seldom found,
where they’re always kept.
The caregiver is aware,
that he’s woefully not adept.
They begin hording things,
that have value to none.
But what saddens you most,
they’re still your loved one.
Nights become worrisome,
because dementia never sleeps.
One appears to be doing fine,
while beyond sight one weeps.

Zippily, zippity, I slip down
the slippery dip slide.
Zippity-doo-dah, slippily-dippity-do!
Suddenly and nippily, tipping
backwards to quicken the pace.
Snappily, I whippingly
swish right off the end of the slide.
I launch into space,
Fly high in the air, arms wildly flaying
like a rocket man on steroids, screaming.
I land with an awfully
painful jolt, snap and thump.
Woefully my aplomb undone,
not so spryly or lightly,
right on my backside.

By a Wall
She loved him,
yes loved the scrambled little guy
She was so careful
that’s no lie
She kept him cool
so he wouldn’t fry
But Humpty Dumpty
he had a thing for being high
Then that fateful day
he tried to fly
Oh me oh my
WHY? why? w h y?
The King he sent them.
Yes, all of his men…
I heard they couldn’t
put Humpty Dumpty together again.
So the Princesses held him,
her cracked mind in pain.
She’d never love
a good egg again.
Strands of her hair
wrapped around his shell.
She picked up every piece that fell.
This part is sad
yet still I must tell,
all loves that start
do not end well.
She became woefully lost
when Humpty fell.
Some say that egg-shelled dude,
enchanted her with a magic spell.
But now he’s gone
and her as well,
buried by a wall
near a lovely dell.

Beneath smile exotic, gleaming moon’s delight,
We embraced romance of a passionate night,
Whispering deep secrets of moments sublime
Unveiling sweet story of undying-love in prime,
Of promises eternal, pledging together forever,
Journeying through life’s endearing endeavor,
Vowing to traverse through oceans of ardour
Eying abode amorous, vying tomorrow’s shore.
Alas! love soon turned errant, choosing to detour,
Straying from accords youthful, but immature,
Rejecting once enamored elation of evermore,
Opting bliss in yonder beyond passions of yore.
In solitude we bid goodbyes to love gone awry
Lamenting wistfulness frequenting pensive sigh
Saddened by bleak story, woefully incomplete,
When dissonant forlorn vibes, accepted defeat.
Yet, we found pathways renewing our dreams,
Reinvigorating assonance of past broken themes
As fervid interests, on divergent paths aligned,
Rewriting ending of story, destiny had designed.
Hosting moments solitary, as I often think of you,
Rekindling in your embrace, love we once knew,
Reminded I am, how memories have feelings too,
Though melodies they strum, no longer ring true.

My heart beats out your name
In steady three-quarter time
This waltz of love sustains me
With the hope that you'll be mine
I dream of you so often
It's almost like you are
But almost can't do justice
It's woefully under par
Yet when I get to see you
My spirit soars to heights
Not humanly attainable
I'm passing stars in flight
That's the effect you have on me
In all the days I've lived
I've never met another
Who can give me what you can give

A story must be told or there'll be no story, yet it is the untold stories that are most moving. ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Whose woes wooed me woefully
and banefully banished my love?
Let me be,
I’ll tell this tale
Some other time.
With all my longing long gone
and heart hurting heartily…
Let me be,
I’ll tell this tale
Some other time.
Destiny ditched me dearly
and life left me in a lurch…
Let me be,
I’ll tell this tale
Some other time.
Squall submerged my ship
and sunk me silently out of sight...
Let me be,
I’ll tell this tale
Some other time.
With friends fostering foes
and loved ones lying low…
Let me be,
I’ll tell this tale
Some other time.
Who broke my heart heartlessly
and troubled my tranquility?
Amid a group of gossipmongers
Goad me not…
I’ll tell this tale
Some other time.
If I tell this all-telling tale
you’ll be named in naming of names...
So, let it be,
I’ll tell this tale
Oh well, some other time!
