A Poet has no
life of their own
They are obsessed,
possessed by the Word- - - - -
Must follow their
Muse to wherever
it takes them
They can't become
involved with
Worldly endeavors
They are always on call
Keep their emotions
calm, in check
Have a sharp focus
as to what they're doing
Must maintain poise
and a clear head
Poetry is their passion
It keeps them
nourished and well fed
with food for the Soul

MY DREAM FOR ZIMBABWE

I wish I could speak Shona fluently
Trace the paths of old Zimbabwe
From the ancient cliffs of Chinoyi
To Nelson Mandela Avenue’s concrete.

But wishes, like dreams
Are shooting stars across the night
Lighting the sky with fleeting grace
Yet slipping beyond reach.

So I dream still
Of the misty beauty at Victoria Falls
Of a land where children laugh and learn
Well-fed, and free to roam.

I dream of Zimbabwe
Where no hand needs greasing
Where healing is a right
And greed is but a forgotten word.

Premium MemberGinger Cat

I have this little Ginger Cat.
Lord knows what he sees
in me! – cutest adoring eyes
I don’t deserve; purrs in
reserve, as he settles to cuddle
and be stroked.
All I do is feed him, a bowl of
fresh water couple times a day --
box of clay for his business – but,
I could almost swear, that there is
true love for me, exhibited in even
our mundane close encounters

given a chance, he would kill every
backyard dove...just for fun shred

I guess, he’s only being a cat for I
keep him well fed

hoping God instructs Michael
to give similar latitude when it
comes to His Man

sure can be confusing, when
considering, God, and His, often, perplexing
species' plan....

A plate of love

Recently, I have felt awfully starved.
I look around to see everyone filled
to the brim with love.
The aroma of romance makes me want
to lose my mind.

I'm happy my friends are well fed.
They deserve it.
Served on a silver plate,
a plentiful diet.
One that will keep them full forever.

But me on the other hand?
My teeth have gone soft,
and my tongue has gone dry.
My plate is empty,
and so is my stomach.

Fumbling Sheep

I'm a really hungry wolf
One that’s never satiated.
Your heart isn't enough
I need your whole arm off

I'm a truly gentle wolf,
Feeding on your bounty.
Maybe flesh is all I need
Not the tears you cry with doubt

What a lucky sheep you are,
Well-fed, with plenty of wool
Yet your eyes are full of fear,
Fumbling blindly in the dark.

"I mean no harm,"
The wolf insists.
He has no claws to wound,
Just teeth sharp enough to cut.

Feline Foibles

I have a cat
(or a cat has me),
a furry cat, a very purry cat
when on my lap it's sat,
independent it is
(egotistical too),
yet demands attention
(self-centred through and through),
and when well-fed, its purr
(a four-stroke motor),
is full of condescension,
when behind its ears you scratch
(it's expected of you),
you may believe you heard,
“Meow, meow, meow,”
(sorry, here's the catch),
what it really said is,
“Me now, me now, ME now!”
And, as goldfish swims in bowl,
cat looks on with danger fraught,
thinking, 'So near yet so far,
that fish is food for thought.'

Premium MemberTrying Chicken Fried Steak a Second Time

My husband likes chicken fried steak
I am not fond of it
But I like the potatoes and gravy on top
I decided to give the chicken another try
It was not for me, so I cut it into sixths for our dogs.
They both turned up their noses at it.
Is it that they are too well fed
Or their taste buds think what my taste buds think?
They must have had chicken fried steak once before.
Neither of them would even try it.

NIGHT NURSE

To be a night nurse takes skill and grace,
Caring for patients in this darkened space.

With every step, we must be alert,
Ensuring their comfort, never to hurt.

We check vitals and administer meds,
Making sure each patient is well-fed.

Through the night, we work with dedication,
Providing care with love and admiration.

It takes compassion and a steady hand,
To be a night nurse, we must understand.

So here's to all the nurses who work late,
Thank you for all you do, you're truly great! ??

Premium MemberThe Clipped Rose

Sometimes I feel guilty
when I harvest a rose
somewhat vindicated
for vase I hand-painted;

I know they are beautiful
my thought to beautify
the home -- yet kindled in me
sense of a predator -- be it bow
rifle or scissor, even snipping
what I cultivate, as the lamb
I raised became Easter dinner

though the family well fed
I question the honor?

Light Among Many Homes

Thousands of light among many homes
There's one light that reserves for you
Waiting for you that you can come in
And who cares for you that calls it home
As you resides day by day love is accustom
Courage is burning and keep light shining
Being together always is like cooking nice food
The belly is well-fed for relationship to bloom
Sometimes, rain and storm might affect light to flicker
Both shelthering hands always there to rescue necessarily
To shade light and keep the light working
In case of strong calamity the light may take off
There is a reserve charging light in case of emergency
Marriage and relationship is like light that need care and propriety.

Premium MemberSEXY MMXXV !!!!

Feed my fantasies and dance on water,
no one has to be mundane.

With a woof o'er me head, belly full,
though it be a bridge, me not cold or dead.

I say from the top of my lungs,
"Free the Glow Worms! Save the Whales!
                         And the Humans too!"

Be educated by eating bowls of poetrysoup everyday,
One can never get enough! Keep the child at heart well fed.

May enemies kiss and make up.
And realize, Arms are for hugging! No mo' nemesis!
The forgiven will walk side by side to the promised land.

Let this New Year's resolution be
A revolution that starts in the heart,
                                        changes the mind,
                                   keeps the body in check,
                                     and refreshes the soul ...

                              May enlightenment be bestowed
                                   upon All in Sexy MMXXV!!!

The Beast

I found the monster in the mirror, fleshed stitched with the fear of guilt, a puppet bound by veins. With whispers of rot beneath each breath.

I fed it well, fed it lies, fed it fear, greased its tongue with my own deceit. Till the shadows spoke in cadence with my voice and I knew there was nothing left to redeem.

I chewed on my own skin, hoping to purge the beast gnawing from within, each tear a prayer to silence the beast, but all that I tasted was the stench of my own decay. The bitter rot that was me. The truth suffocated me, and in that suffocation i became the beast.

Premium MemberChristmas Faerie

Christmas Faerie with your heart full of cheer
How great that you appear each and every year
With your powerful gifts of hope, joy and love
Sent from the heroes who live in clouds above

We feel your presence in the white of the snow
Wishing we knew half of the wonders that you do know
Christmas Faerie you inspire us to be happy of heart
We wish to know you better; wish we were never apart!

Your sparkling wings and your personality so vivid and bright
Makes us feel happy to think about Christmas Eve Night
With a loveliness unknown to many, dear Faerie Dear
You bring our friends and neighbors to us, from far and near.

Your gown is exquisite, you are dressed pretty in red.
Ruffles, lace and pearls, give you a beauty well fed.
Your floral headdress gives your smile a pretty peak.
Your hope and goodwill are what we all dare to seek.

Christmas Faerie, you are prettier each time you come.
Dancing with delight to the melody of Christmas drum.
We are grateful to receive you, you are our honored guest.
We feel excited by your presence, feeling well blessed.

Still the girl sings

The waters are murky
And the skies are growing dark
A girl on the hilltop
Now sings like a meadow lark
The sheep in the fields
Turn to home before the rain
They've got miles to cover
Over hard, rocky terrain

The sun sets in the west
While the moon is on the rise
Sleep comes to the weary
As the girl sings the reprise
Love blooms in the distance
Promises have been exchanged
Life upon prairie lands
Has finally been arranged

Crops have now been planted
And the animals well fed
No one now looks behind
The only view lies ahead
Silence engulfs the nights
None know what tomorrow brings
Peaceful dreams are pursued
And on hilltops she still sings

Blessings from above*
Transformed lust to love*
Delusion to illumination*
Earth-heaven bilocation*

Heavenly Manna poured into our hearts like fine husked wheat
He makes sure we are always well fed and have enough to eat

Transforming lust to love an inexperienced heart learns in time
that the best kind of love is love agape, always close Divine

From false beliefs comes delusion from delusion comes lies
only God can remove our blinders and open wide our eyes

Earth to heaven, as we stand outside ourselves we enter ecstasy
propelling the soul forward, we negate all things that lead to heresy.
