Lighting Tomorrow
Memory’s
lantern
near empty
unfilled
Each night
in the darkness
to flicker
until
Your eye
without warning
a flash
unexplained
Forever
relighting
and fanning
— the flame
(Dreamsleep: June, 2025)
Shamal Winds
Lost
in the deepest
recesses of myself
And happier
than I have
any right to be
The hidden
regions
my newfound oasis
A Bedouin
convert
— home among the sands
(The New Room: June, 2025)
Infestation
The American Dream
becoming
a nightmare ...
Conscripted
by strangers
new thieves in the night
Usurping
our freedoms
embedded among us
Invested in nothing
but
— what they can steal
(University Of Pennsylvania: June, 2025)
Leaving The Noise
He came into
silence
like fish
take to water
The only thing
constant
his being
alone
To wander
the alleys
of quiet
reception
The noise
and confusion
for others
— to drone
(The New Room: June, 2025)

Gods of Men
Uniquely crafted
with the world in focus
Altered scripts
broken-off ancients scrolls
Erecting structures
in a malleable world
Setting hearts on fire
testing souls with trials
Romancing the sundial
allotting time, as we
usher in a new era
With each revolving door
usurping gods as men
Selling lives for less

my husband and I love dogs
he was totally against paying big money for one
I did not care; I wanted a golden retriever
so I paid for one
actually, ended up with an English Crème retriever
an almost white golden
he already had a name – Beau
so we kept it
not realizing he comes to any name
my husband calls him Pedro
pal, buddy, friend, boy,
I call him Baby Beau
Baby Beau is king of this family
usurping Buddy who has never cared to be royalty
Buddy used to live under the jurisdiction of Queen Sophie
a persnickety particular snooty black cocker spaniel
Now he is lead around by Beau, and he likes it.

Our beautiful blue planet billions of years old
A matchless marvel in the cosmic architecture
Survived eons of trying times in hostile space
Endured the disrupting tectonic turmoil untold.
Fostered the diversified life in the tree of evolution
Nurtured the pristine innate splendor of nature
Amidst the enveloping noxious haze heinous
Of the suffocating industrial pollution of progress.
As the stride of civilization crosses the Rubicon line
The mankind will enter the stark dismal terrain of doom
Trip the critical balance usurping the green canopy
Veil the fragile ecosystem with the smoke of growth wild.
The sustainable limits are being infringed ever so rapidly
After long summer the planet might freeze in extended winter
Caused by the catastrophic climate change looming large
To initiate the apocalyptic period of the fifth season.

The velvet blanket of night gently lifts
revealing a gauzy veil of gray,
seduced by the morning sun, usurping the day;
water ripples through the breeze, it hums and shifts.
In marshy bogs of clustered coves,
amongst the cattails and slender reeds
schools of fish gather, in their quest to breed;
graceful herons meditate in a protracted pose.
The stillness of the morning serenades
the dreamy sail boats waltzing on the lake;
balanced and smooth leaving no wake,
the voice of peace and serenity pervades.

It is enough for you to earn peace in a bleak plight.
And in times of need, that end comes from inner sight.
Also, your reason should be to expand worth and right.
In an era where the historical roots are usurping weight.
And that understanding guides you on your flight.
Also, you are not content with sight alone or bright.
Such assets cannot be purchased, for a complete incite.

‘I leave am for God’
Is the poor man's prayer
When he submits to higher realms
Transferring judgement to higher forces
The answer to that prayer is often terrifying
When you take another for granted
Trampling on another because you are advantaged
Usurping communal wealth because you are in charge
Bleeding the flock you are supposed to pastor
It is the poor man that bears the brunt
Don't fall a victim

Deft tiptoing of enemy feet
Trails progress of this ink;
Such that when one word
I pen I must pose to think.
Usurping hand’s derailment
Detracts my scribblings too;
So when firing thoughts stir,
I lose lucid inspiration's glue.
Weirdest passions do this quill
Assail with craftiest forces still;
Turning minutes of finest Muse
Into dullest bouts the poet rues.
And so what might this scribbler
Do to halt such thievish assaults;
Decadent schemes blunting wits,
Shoving this bard to idler's faults?

Alas, those days are gone! So long Argentina!
Deprived by vaccine law! Must do or be fool-dead!
Viral fear so rapid, the gene-techs’ in fast rev
Ending the long debate, big pharm governs mandates!
No talk of tried and true, gene-play is in fashion
Though it has been decades, with research showing naught
Usurping panic won, in careful thought’s adieu
RNA induction, into cells muscular
Everyone producing, proteins of a microbe!
Spike me with this logic, for I’ll become hostess
Stranger no more to me, I make the antigens!
Of nucleic acid shots, none are like polio…
Now the scientific fad’s gene manipulation
Even in infant phase, unready for the stage!

Hollow odes lament where waves crash depthless
Oh! How ocean lacking light spills woe so!
Lackluster grays wail unkempt longingness
Lone stander bleeds the dreams of times ago
O'er the screaming wind, a seagull's bleak cries
weeps of cloudiness usurping the day
Heaven's warmth obscured, and now coldness vies,
overwhelming where vast emptiness slays
Left purposeless, wavering dark takes hold
looping tight a lynch-like corrosive noose
Otiose life sucks vim where sharks enfold,
wrecked in sunless abyss of night let loose
But Sol, unconquerable, beams once more
and the lighthouse sings, full of birds from shore!

Neared mayhem can follow.
Choices brought with sorrow.
Restoring us from graft.
We appear shaping past.
We yearn most than we say.
Our minds and hearts will pay.
Running and squealed to rife.
Everything spins with life.
Morning sun warms the face.
Winning or yield reap grace.
Out of place wish to aim.
Life's pages dwell a game.
Daily tweaking our tale,
We must at once prevail.
We cling to each other.
Meeting needs and utter.
Dream of giving up hope.
Always upset by mope.
Life will remain unjust.
Don't forfeit our spirits.

a tale is told

Narcissism shows its ugly head in so many ways
Sharp put-downs to show one’s superiority
A heightened sense of one’s importance, and
Usurping, whenever possible, another’s authority.
Self-deceiving, and never able to admit defeat
Being in love with themselves, misplaced vanity
Slipping into unbelievable fantasy and self-delusion
If not properly treated, it can lead to insanity.
Taking credit for the accomplishments of others
Thinking that nobody can do anything better
Setting oneself up as the expert in everything
Even playing the role of a renowned jet-setter.
One-upmanship, of course, is a favorite ploy
Having done anything you have done and more
Must be noticed, front row, in every picture
At every gathering the consummate bore.
Do not believe words from a narcissist’s mouth
For lying is second nature to the oafish boor
Constantly engage in building themselves up
Most of them are rotten right down to the core.

They say that, physical people
are meaty – and our smartest
are brainy – but the religious,
less Divine, for only one had
power over water into wine;
yet what we do in laboratories
now, has greatly complicated
our religious stories, when modern
man seems usurping many of
God's Glories...
So what can the inquisitive truly
surmise, if stars in the sky
are also in man's eyes?
