To Dehumanize and Hurt

Too hard to think straight

Sat with my sad thoughts 
Fearless as my body rots
I never knew you’d be here
I shed a tear without a fear

The devil’s not on my tongue
The angels are by my shadowy side
You’re singing the songs I sung
Once upon a time, my broken pride

Pushed Too Far

I've never been good enough
For you or anyone to love 
The simple act of touching me
Made you wish for a glove 

To you I'm fat and worthless 
Or disgusting and not clean
I know that's not how I am 
You only say it to be mean

You've destroyed my confidence 
Relentlessly abuse me mentally 
As I put

years have taken their toll
that's how we roll
we do our very best
and let go of the rest
we watch our life go by
and try our best not to cry
the world is in bad shape
i'm choking on a sour grape

Lived too many Lives

my body ache and feel so old
my soul torn and winter's cold
i've lived too many lives

they say, "teenage is the best years of life
but carelessness can bring you demise"
lost in the petty things of life
i lost a precious chapter of my life

they say, "care for each other, care for the poor
but care even more about

I am too fragile to let people penetrate into my inner world

I am too fragile to let people penetrate into my inner world,
Too shy to complain about something, to express my dissatisfaction,
So sensitive that their words become burdens heavy to carry,
Too emotional to handle the turmoil that haunts my heart.
I am chaos, a strange one, always known as being unknown,
Silence and time spent alone are often

WILL I HAVE WRINKLES TOO

She crawled into her Grandpa’s lap…it brought a smile to his face…
for he loved anytime they had the chance to share in the same space. 

“Why do people grow old?” She asked.  
“Will I ever be as old as you?”
Then she gently rubbed his face and asked,
 “Will I have wrinkles too?”

Grandpa smiled. “Growing

Too Young To Die

So long ago
It was a far different world
It was safe to be a child
You could attend school 
Go to your church
Or just play outside
You would feel perfectly safe
No one decided when it was time to die
Now you cannot do these things
Not without worrying if you would get home
It is a sad world when there are

HEAVEN TOO EARTH

The look up
On Earth below
Rain that falls
Refreshing breezes
Winds that blow
Sky echoes
Internal and External at the same time
The thought and wonders of Heaven
Equal time
A place spiritual
Stories of miracles ever told
A Mighty King who sits high and bold
Earth preparations before
Uplift and galore
Flesh and Soul connected
Song of joy and peace
Distance beyond the human eyes to see
Every star twinkle

She trusted him.
Loved him.
Believed in the promise of tomorrow —
but tomorrow never came.

South Africa, our soil is heavy,
carrying too many daughters
laid down before their time.

Her name was whispered in hashtags,
her smile replayed on timelines.
She is every Ayanda, every Naledi,
every Lerato, every Zinhle —
names we say, names we march for,
names carved in our memory.

And I am

To forgive is human too

Of what use again is my tear to you?
I plead, I cry, I try to soothe with care,
Yet you ignore me, and call me a fraud.
I know I betrayed your wholehearted love—
But if to err is human, then to forgive is human too.
