They Were Too Young To Have To Die

All the people who are gone
All the ones who learned to fly
They all flew on passed the sun
They all were too young to say good-bye

All the people that have died
All the people that passed the moon
We all try to wonder why
Why all these people have died too soon

Were there lives just meant to end
All the people who have gone away
Why isn't it us instead of them
Was it just meant to be that way

All the people that we loved
All the people that we knew
They were all too young to have to die
When they said good-bye to me and you

Some were family, some were friends
Why did they have to pass so soon
Why'd they have to pass the sun
And why'd they have to pass the moon

All the people who are gone
May they rest in peace where they lie
All the people that have passed
They were all too young to have to die

I love your tribute here, Charles. Our time here is written in the stars. I wanted to thank you for letting us know about dear Michael. I wish I could recall my last soupmail correspondence with him!

Hi Andrea, yes, it is. Michael was a great guy...his wife was 13 years older than he. He loved poetry and loved his friends here. So sad... we talked about getting together several times because we were only about 2 hours away from each other in driving distance. Kicking myself in the head for not making it happen. Sending hugs xo

'Why isn't it us instead of them', this is the way of the world we live in. Had it been us instead of them, they'd be asking the same question. Sad but true!

I can appreciate the questioning that comes when someone young dies. My younger brother died young...was troubling at the time.

I  enjoyed reading your powerful/true write. This says so much. Like a dad dying before the baby is born. My friend's granddaughter who was 12. I have heard it said, they were the lucky ones. Old age brings nothing but pain/hurt/sorrow. Guess it is all in how we look at it. It is very hard to let go of a love one. I have done it many times. Will there be a part 2??? Have a Lovely/Blessed Day Writing Away....................

That is a question that can never be answered. Why them, why not me ?
