Why does doom feel so familiar
While happiness seems so far away?
How many times have you heard the supplications
Asking for help, or
Begging for mercy, from our suffering.
In this god-forsaken place,
Where we have been placed, to test our tenacity.
Here in this tent city, surrounded by the sounds of industry,
Talking to strangers, about predestined arrangements
Watching the birds fly and the bugs crawl beneath the canopy
In a seemingly parallel reality, I’ve come to suffer separation
From this place we call civilization, the noise of today
Is but tomorrow’s memory, wanting to steal my spirit away.
Just leave me be. Forget about me. Mind your own business.
Leave me out of the fray. I never asked it to be this way.
Criss-crossed with trespass, egregious behavior
Upon someone else’s path, invasive presence, vainglorious -
Self-interest that clashes with everything including itself.
Vibrating like a hive of invasive species
Eating away at the fabric of our being.
Loud, obnoxious, rude, concoctions, diseases for the masses
Please take me away from this insanity. Again,
I pray. ~psp

When first we met, love at first sight
I thought of you as nothing more
Than someone I could hold at night
To love, to cherish evermore.
But as affections, like rivers, flowed
And deepened with each passing moment
I found in you not just a hand to hold
But a place of peace where I could hide.
You are my paradise of peace
The answer to my whispered prayers
The fruit of fasting, quiet supplications
And those moments of reverence.
Now, what is left for me to do
But devote my life to worship you
My peace paradise.

etched …
into flesh …
into the warm muscle of my being
your colors … stained me …
each a story
each a passionate moment of unusual depth
from the reds of your hot blood,
coursing me
the warm ochers - your joyous spirit
cool sapphires, your eerie ire
sadness and hurt, the slates and grays
envious emeralds, (brief)
dazzled white brilliance, your smile
and the utter inky black of your quiet rage
a color that devoured all others -
that devoured me
choking
gasping for your grace
(always granted) …
you are the ink
and I am your integument
you have written your sins and supplications
upon me …
the stories they tell,
indelible and intransigent …
a bit of pain and bleeding with
each glyph and letter
wiped smooth by the sweet, soft
soothing of your spirit …
I am your carnal canvas -
your searing brand
immutable and love-deep
I am your …
tattoo.

Pilgrim Transported to A Sacred Space
Weary And Torn but not Folorn
To Implore of the Goddess Face to Face
A Quiet Place, Comforted In Her Embrace, Her Grace,
The Liminal Space, Void of Facades Where Humble Prayers Prevailing
Desire is A Watery Vessel With Hopeful Supplications
Laminated, Hoisted For Vigilant Sailing
Sailing, Navigating Her Crystal Fountain
Bearing Through Currents, Swelling, Expanding
Realining, Refining Brass Rusted by The Salted Sea
Sheltered By The Stormy Blast, Her Tender Care Bestowed
Stilled In Ordered Chaos From Her Comforts Flow
Sufficient Is Her Bosom, Hail The Watery Throne
Sheltered From Boisterous Waves, Fears Vanquished, Abandoned and Disowned.

We are born to die, to cease being, living.
Our purpose is to reach the final cessation
Of breathing, of existing. But we fight on.
When Death nears us on his skeletal horse,
Or in the guise of a merciless, dark Angel,
We scurry away, foolishly try to hide.
Concealment there is none, yet we hope.
Pray that our supplications shall be answered,
That our lives shall be extended. For what?
To suffer some more exquisite agony?
Cruelty is our inheritance; kindness, a myth.
Redemption is reserved for other blessed ones,
Not for the likes of us damned to suffer.
Yet… why then do we die to carry on living?

Our Revolution sought limitations
On imposition of regulations,
But supplications met deprecation
And castigations not reformation.
Such condescension sparked protestation
And contemplation of separation;
This supposition stirred apprehension -
A premonition of confrontation.
But, declamations and remonstrations
Spurred agitation toward Declaration,
While provocations and deprivations
Steeled resolution for liberation.
War's prosecution, through execution,
Forged dedication for recognition;
Its culmination brought dissolution
And vindication for aspirations.
While extrication brought satisfaction
States' acclamations lacked definition.
This Federation showed imperfections;
Low validation forced redirection.
Deft composition penned Constitution;
Strong propositions scored affirmation.
Hence, generations find inspiration
And preservation their obligation.

Tell all the people yet to come
Democracy is what we chose;
Their mission's goal: protect it from
All foreign and domestic foes.

I don't know the way to prostrate properly
I don't know how to make supplications discreetly
The droplets just drip down my cheeks
That's how this thing mercy seeks
I know my faults, so I feel guilty
But I know my Lord, He'll so benevolently
forgive my sins, if I ask regretfully
My sinful past can't hinder my path
Because my matter is already dealt with and
I don't need a man to hear or attend
It's me and my Lord, and He does listen
I wrong and wrong, repent and repent
I cry and cry, and I return again
See His forgiveness, He always forgives
And not to mention, the favours He gives
Air, water, clothes, food, and family
He has never seized, whether I am faulty
And provides all these bounties solely
This is my Lord, my God, my Allah
Nothing is comparable, He's the one and only

How big are we in the scheme of the universe?
Actually, less than one letter in a 1,000-page novel,
A concept about which I find hard to converse
Confining thoughts mostly to my private journal.
Frankly, the theme beleaguers our ideas of prayer,
And how can such a microscopic being relate to God
Questions whether S/He is, indeed, here or there!
Somewhere in space or here on the earth’s sod.
I believe that God resides in every person’s soul
Or, as we euphemistically say, …in our hearts,
When we grasp this concept, we become whole
Within ourselves, I believe, God-dialogue starts.
Prayer rises from within our thought-processes
Utterings from the innermost parts of our being,
Cries out, in traumatic times, from deep recesses
Releasing our supplications is incredibly freeing.
Does God hear these zillions of individual prayers,
And does God respond to each prayers’ needs?
Only, I believe, if S/he lives within the pray-ers,
With little regard for individual beliefs or creeds.

Don’t worry about a thing!
But in all your supplications
Bringing them before God!
Whatever you are going through
When you can’t count on yourself
When you are up or down
Even if you have dug deep into hell
Don’t go round and round!
Don’t go to the masses!
Messes don’t bother God!
Get counsel from whom you trust
Lift it up! God will never leave you!
God will give you a piece of the puzzle
Which will become the centre piece!
It’s going to work out
A new joy is coming this season!

Praise be to Allah
The Religion & free gifts.
The heart is weak
From the pain of farewell.
Our nights are cracked
With prayers,
Abundant tears.
Hands of generosity
Adorn you with recitation,
With sincere foreheads,
We prostrate to Allah.
With mercy your abundance
Flood the stranded,
The bands of satan
In handcuffs & humiliated,
By our glorification & lullaby.
Supplications resounding
Have mercy Oh Lord!
The Exalted - The Hearer
Even when an ignorant calls.
Our sins continue to flow
Like a wave in depth of the sea.
From the love you abound us
Our heart is full of piety,
Our eyes get attached
& tears flow from them.
When you reach your lord
Say to him;
You defeated war with seduction,
You fought against vices,
You humiliated barrenness.
Tell him;
You conquered,
You were victorious.
But we are scared
Those woes will rise back
From dead bones when you leave.

He is eager to break a record
But a lot plays with loafers’ record:
The Leanest Time to wonders accord …
He is The Gasping for a record
But in his left ear an oft fixed cord;
Not with scholarship in accord …
The Anxious-to-Create-a-Record
Still in his heard speeches Hacked Concord
And one could glimpse in them his thrust word …
Then, do not worshipful notice take
Of the Desirous-to-Record break:
Some of the times, a user of dictions
That are fraught with rash contractions;
The chap’s last speech-filled publications
By him tagged Divine Supplications …
But I knew and could prove pinned papers
About some much touted life shapers,
In sizes a peace-preaching memo,
In quality, A Hurried Demo;
At last to be granted ‘No Author’;
Who does to be checked by A Doctor.
