Snow
sifts in clouded silence
through skies, dark as eternity.
The great stones stand
resolute, dusted with fragments
of forgotten faith.
The ancient souls who built the circle
have long since flown the Earth.
Songs of worship shimmer in the stillness.
Millennia ago, when the great plain was shrouded
in the mists of eons,
they knew the sacred wonder of the rising Sun,
the greatest of Gods, who called them
to move, with impossible purpose, the giant stones.
Clouds part. Moonlight spills to illuminate the circle,
lucent and crystalline with snow.
And a thousand eyes—
even still—
witness their solemn, soaring grace
from beyond the stars.
breathing life
into envisaged giants
our days were long
but calling
we finished standing
these stones of time
their face our face
our hands were bleeding
as we sank into the ground
left a future in our wake
diminished
we knew we had to do it
but to their colossus
we now rest in peace
to set all peace to come
BLUESTONES GUARDING THE MOONLIGHT
SILVER STREAKS RIPPLING OVER THE ROCKS
TOWERING GUARDIANS OF THE MAGIC CIRCLE
HUNDREDS OF DRUIDS IN ROBES OF MANY COLORS
LANTERNS OF BLUE SWING WHERE DAEKNESS DWELT
ENTERING INTO YJE GATEWAY TO ETERNITY
To say hello to spring
Winter relents in time,
Grey goes green, smiles gream grime,
Nature knows— not to cling.
Seasons change on their own
And wait not till too late
To kiss change on due date,
All things change, even stone.
But man seems stuck sans clue,
Feels frozen facing change,
Red nor green, but orange!
He who once walked on two
From all four, far to see
As ape— his greatest feat,
Yet, somewhere lost his wit,
Opting purblind to be.
In saying no to change,
An existential threat
That might wipe out his fate,
Back to times of Stonehenge!

Poet’s note: In evolutionary race when man was not yet a *****Sapiens, he showed an exemplary foresight to steer himself ahead of all life forms, on top of pyramid to be, and never to look back ever since— the time he, as an ape, decided to walk on his rear two legs. But today it seems he chooses to be purblind, refusing to see the threat to his existence. This piece wonders if man is on his way back to Stonehenge.
At Stonehenge, poised for morn in deepest darkness,
We beckon Lady Ceridwen, our Goddess Crone,
And mark Samhain’s quiet, constant stillness,
To death in Yule we walk with magic to the stone.
Dark mother, wise one, heal us in the underworld,
Where the winter souls find rebirth in breaking sun.
It returns the fecund resplendence that it unfurled,
And warms the blood and bone with hope and passion.
We feast, celebrating, slaughtering a spring-born animal,
And dwell where ancestral souls wait solar rebirth,
We call upon sun god Esus to offer light’s arrival,
Brightening, emblazoning the cold and frosted earth.
Ceased in longest night, we linger here in winter death,
That we trust again the power of light, our shibboleth.
rain washed stand the stones,
with carvings of human hand,
in their quiet stature they speak
a language to us unknown!
tons of hardened rock,
designed to withstand the fury,
of weather, nature and time’s flow,
to express secret wishes
of our soft beating hearts.
inscriptions tell us what should be
and what could be,
ten commandments anew
for a society more lost than ever before.
the source of this modern wisdom
and channels of its wealth a mystery,
not a Stonehenge of burial but
perhaps an expression of some hope
for a different future.
Or is it the arrogance of a few?
with abundant earnings,
who have since perished,
and have left their misguided
conclusions live on for millenniums!
monuments of marble and rocks,
mark journeys of human emotions,
If only these stones could speak,
they may tell a tale to remember….
I can linger no longer in the mystery
of their silence,
I have a train to catch and
the reality of life to confront.

Reflecting on Stonehenge
Ancient mysteries
Neolithic man left behind
Their enlightened thought suggests
heaven and earth are twin powers
harnessed through astronomy
Standing stones silent witness.
Sunrise, sunset, and solstice
Natural chronometer
heaven's perpetual pulse
Celebrations long since dead
Echoes muted
Excavations ongoing
hypothesis abounding.
Abiding mystery
What drove this undertaking?
How was knowledge obtained?
Science of astronomy
was remote truth for ancients

Stonehenge sang to me.
Singing stone-age ancestors.
They chant in the stars.
Prehistoric people built Stonehenge
The rumors about this never end.
Predicting the moon
Sun or monsoon
Spiritual place on a road with a bend
Stonehenge
by Michael R. Burch
Here where the wind imbues life within stone,
I once stood
and watched as the tempest made monuments groan
as if blood
boiled within them.
Here where the Druids stood charting the stars
I can tell
they longed for the heavens ... perhaps because
hell
boiled beneath them?

Stonehenge
in the long shadows
--sundown
When the stones do sing
And wrap us in their strong embrace
Then the inner being binding our cosmos
Reflects the sacrality of such communion
We are one,though many
Fused in togetherness
Individually cleansed
Sharing our common consciousness
Denied in everyday traffic
Where ego trumps our better natures
Drowning out the sound of silence
Within which we find our true selves
Fleetingly perhaps
But oh so necessary
For our underlying humanity
Loss of which condemns us
To strife ,greed and war
Let peace emerge from within our souls
I've never seen them before,
but know they're in Elbert County, Georgia
put there by a mysterious man
by the name of R.C. Christian,
who put them on display
in dixieland, 1980 circa,
They have 10 new age rules,
which are occultic in my view,
stating that he is a tree hugger,
and wants billions of people to perish,
thinking in his view,
were nothing more than cannon fodder,
he thinks the planet is too overpopulated,
and that nature must be "balanced,"
his religion being pantheism or polytheism,
of which one I'm not quite sure which,
All's I know is that this mystery man
worships the sun, moon and the stars,
mother nature in general,
rather than our Heavenly Father
which is new age bizarre,
and that when Charlie Daniels
wrote his hit country pop song,
he must have known about all this,
when he came out with his
"the devil came down to Georgia" hit.
Addendum: They are actually called the "Georgia Guidestones" with 10
New Age commandments written on them.
THE HAUNTING MYSTERY OF STONEHENGE
It’s a prehistoric landmark,
built five thousand years ago,
who actually constructed it,
we still don’t really know.
Standing near Salisbury, England
on the dusty northern plain,
the reason for its existence,
no-body can explain.
The bigger stones called “sarsens”
are thirty two feet tall,
each weigh twenty two cubic tons
stand on end to form each wall.
The stone came from 20 miles away
and it seems quite bizarre,
these people of antiquity
could move such stone so far.
Forty tons of bluestone rest,
surviving climate wear and tear
but the biggest question still remains,
how did it get up there?
Is Stonehenge a haunting monument
what a sculptor dreams about,
or is it an ancient puzzle
we’ve yet to figure out?
