The sailorman named Popeye
better known as Olive Oyl’s guy
seemed nothing more than an affable fishmonger
until he downed spinach to make him stronger

I’m Popeye the Sailor Man
I gulp spinach straight from the can
I yam what I yam, and that’s all that I am—
I’m Popeye the Sailor Man!
I’m strong to the finish,
’cause I gulp down my spinach,
I’m Popeye the Sailor Man!
Now Olive Oyl, she made a vow—
“No spinach for me, not ever, not now!”
But she’ll kiss me tonight,
’cause she knows I can fight,
And just what a green slurp, can do
when it's downed in one big chew.
Old Bluto came a'stormin’ by,
With trouble flaring deep in his eye—
He’s such a nasty badass brute,
He tried to snatch Olive and scoot,
But I sent him high and flying,
spinning, yelling and crying!
There’s no denying the might in a man
who can pop open spinach in a can.

I eats spinach straight from a can
I’m strong to the finich,
’cause I eats me spinach,
Getting cheers from the crowd,
When I fighting screaming out loud

My favorite vegetable
It's nutritious and delicious
Used in sinigang and adobo
Good to make for soup too
It's easy to farm and produce
Less maintenance and less work
A short crop but has long harvest
A sustainable source of business too.
I have to have it! I told my mother
Because I wanted to be Popeye
I wanted to develop those arm muscles
I wanted to save the day, and fight the bad guys
My mother finally broke down and bought it.
Canned spinach. I could hardly wait to gulp it down.
Wait a second! YUCK!
I did not eat spinach for years after that.
Finally ate fresh spinach
Accidentally
in a spinach salad
This was nothing like the canned
Popeye had never indicated the truth.
Canned spinach tastes like spit out baby food.
Nothing would ever help me believe Popeye again.

Blueberries, nuts, assorted fruits
Spinach, kale, and vegetable roots
One glass of Cabernet each night

Who was sold on eating tons of spinach

Spinach is all I eat now.
That silly green grass
is a thing of the past,
for a new wind is blowing this hour.
