Love out loud

I don’t know how to love quietly.
Every word that leaves my mouth,
Every thought that I put into writing.
Love spills out of me at every second.
Flowing into every soul around me.

The concept of casualness does not exist to me.
I would do anything just to see someone smile.
I feel every single emotion to an extreme.
I love every friend with my entire heart.
Even when it causes me guilt.

I feel I owe all my love to you,
But I cannot stop myself from loving.
I apologize for the times distance grows between us,
For it causes me more pain than I think you realize.
Every night I wish to spend all of my time with you.

Even though I love every friend I have.
I will always hold you closest to my heart.
I hope you know I love you the most.

1 hit

My mom looks at me like I’m nothing
All cuz of 1 hit
My dad thinks I’m a failure
All cuz of 1 hit
My personality changed
All cuz of 1 hit
I spend all my money
All cuz of 1 hit
I can’t stop myself
All cuz of 1 hit
I want to stop but cant
All cuz of 1 hit
I ruined my life
All cuz of 1 hit

Baby's Breath

Baby's Breath
(For my sisters and Anne)

. for public domain

For years, I found no time for tender gazes
on flowers and baby's breath in colorful vases.
My sisters, and Anne, however, could spend all the day
cultivating garden beds for the blooms of May.

My share in their floral adventures
was to tote heavy pots of soil,
dig endless holes for spots in beds.
To me it was nothing but toil.

The payment for years of sweaty labor
are whimsical looks from passing neighbors,
and wistful memories of lovely vased blooms
centered neatly on my bedside table,
resting on a clean white doily,
dressed with Baby's Breath

Premium Member No Tiny House for Me

I am fascinated with the TV show on tiny houses
Cannot imagine living in one
I notice most of these owners build a thousand-acre deck
Possibly because they spend all their time out there

I would be so claustrophobic
bumping into my married half
Fighting over the one dinky bathroom
wishing we had another sink

And there is no way I would climb a ladder to a loft
or go up a rock wall to get there
I would put a sleeping bag under the wheels
and sleep with the snakes first

Tossed At Sea

This ship that I’ve chosen to sail be proven swift and strong.
We’ve weathered much together, she and I.
So many days amidst the wind and storms we’ve travelled long
to cross this mighty ocean here beneath the endless sky.

Sometimes it seems that this will be how I spend all my days,
like being tossed at sea is all there is.
It’s hard to hold out faith that there be more than endless waves,
but I am being true to his promise -

That there’s a land ahead that God has called me to sail to,
somewhere that he has prepared just for me.
So, I sail on despite the storms for I know if I’m true…
‘twill have been worth it to be tossed at sea.

unlikely

i spend all my time thinking about it
i can be surrounded by the prettiest sights
with the best people
doing the most enjoyable things
and i'll be caught up wondering
pondering
how it got to this
how much more will i discover
before i can't take it any longer
how long will i let you hurt me
before i finally find the nerve to let go
will it hurt more to let you go
or to keep myself stuck in this spot
forever
will you ever tell me everything
admit to it all
i don't think i could trust you again
not even with time
it'd be nice to know you think about it too
to know you feel guilty
but i know it doesn't eat you alive
like it does me
taking any last bit of joy i have left
or any i can try to find
i'd have more room for joy if i let you go
if i can ever bring myself to it

clementine

i spend all my days with someone
who doesn't care about me in the slightest
and hurts my feelings in the worst ways
but i can't let go of her
nothing would ever be the same
everyone says it'd be
for the better in some ways
but that's not how i feel
if i let you go,
i'm letting part of me go
and i can't let some of me go
without all of me going
so i keep you around to keep myself
i don't even want to keep mysef
i don't think you care to keep me either
but part of me still wants to believe
you'll have the same love for me you once felt
even if it was never real
i will peel myself open and open again
so you can get a taste of my fruit inside
and spit me right back out
only to come back for more
you never liked how i tasted
you just liked watching me peel open
showing you the most vulnerable part of me
you liked peeling my pith away
all of me wasn't good enough for you
you could only accept certain parts of me
and even though i changed to please you
i'm still not good enough
so i'll stitch my peel back up
until you're ready to try me again

A political issue

So many lives destroyed by greed.
Too many hungry mouths to feed.
The rich blame the poor for being lazy and feckless.
The poor blame the rich for being greedy and reckless.

The wealthiest hide funds in offshore accounts
The poor must work harder for meagre amounts.
People are divided so the markets may prosper.
Whilst queues at foodbanks continue to grow longer

Refugees escape from terror and wars.
Dreaming of landing on welcoming shores.
Condemned by the establishment, who don’t want them stay.
Yet happily spend all the taxes they pay.

Governments are chosen by media manipulation.
Then fight their cause with enhanced reputations.
Our press is controlled by the wealthiest few.
So, who really decides what we see in the news?

These are political issues, but many don't care.
Yet the wealth divide remains massively unfair.
Too many believe there’s no other choice.
So, stand up and be heard, coz we all have a voice.

Premium Member A Ring of Tears

He smiles, places the ring on her finger.
She smiles, but then she bows her head.
Cuz she knows that sometimes, love won't linger.
But with time, she'll know if love is dead.

He swears that, that last time, was the last time.
But any promise, can still be broken.
And for her, no more church bells will chime.
Only scars on her heart, as a token.

He smiles again, as he walks out the door,
She cries again, another broken heart.
The weight of these dead dreams, crash to the floor,
Cuz, this ring has weighed heavy from the start

Chorus:
And we'll be dancing, tonight,
Under the full moon, so bright.
Still, she'll spend all her years,
In a lonely, Ring of Tears!

And as her love disappears,
Trapped in this lonely, Ring of Tears!

Life And Times

Said he, “Life is but a short journey, a dead end at best and over all too fast,
but along the way admire the view, enjoy the ride while it may last.
No ifs ands or buts, there are no shortcuts, we all fall by the same sword
and the race well run, from the starting gun, is its own reward.
The turning of the wheels wounds all heels, and in time, all wounds it heals,
so fill your heart for until you do, you're merely filling time
meanwhile the dial is really killing you.
As all you have is the now and here,
learn to burn the midnight oil, while down the drain the days disappear.
Can't stop the sands, hold the hands of time, or turn back the clock,
you won't see the same mistakes or heartaches
if you look at love as the key, and life as the lock.
For there is no daylight savings, as time awaits no man,
if time is money, no matter how much you save, you'll spend all you can,
doing this and doing that, to pass the time of day,
and there right before your eyes, the time of your life will pass away.”

Limericks Written In A Country Churchyard

There once was a sensitive vicar,
who said, "I'm not one to bicker,
but the peal of that bell,
makes me feel quite unwell,
and plays merry hell with my ticker."

An incensed old soul by the spire,
preaching incense-igniting to the choir,
exclaimed, "There is but one catch,
when striking a match,
don't set your surplice on fire."

A parson spoke from the nave,
"Spend all you can, do not save,
if you've spilled all the sands,
and still have time on your hands,
you can't take it with you to the grave."

A wise minister in the kirk,
enlightened, observed with a smirk,
"When it's dark out there,
put your hands in the air,
as many hands make light work.”

Spider

Weird, dangerous eyes.
Nothing scary.
Except when I get scared.

Be like an evil eye.
Rounded and rolling eyes.
Could kill me.
Like a fly.
So a spider eats the fly.
Before the fly can eat me.

Sneezing so that they hear you.
Running around for no reason.
If I were small.
Like a spider.
I would spend all my time.
Creating webs.
With multiple eyes and legs.
Nothing beautiful.
Just an obstacle that spiders make.

Weird, evil eyes.
Don’t do much except create webs and wait.
Scattered webs.
So I can stroll and eat all day.

I don’t need to tell the fly.
To come toward me.
He gets captured all on his own.
So I am evil.

The Birds at Your Window

Along with the grief of a beloved dead cat,
Comes the joy of watching the birds through your window,
It was be as small as getting a laugh from a fall,
It’s a tortured artist creating beauty from his pain,
It’s dying old trousers to cover a stain,
Liking them more- now you wear them again,
Tears of heartbreak water you and allow you to grow,
Your perception will plant the seeds that are sewn,
You could know a whole town and still feel alone,
Or spend all day with your curtains closed,
But the birds will always be there,
If you care to look for them.

Premium Member Another gardening rhyme

I wish I had the energy to do my garden proud.
But my poor back is groaning It is groaning very loud.
I have some great intentions to spend an afternoon
digging in the garden. But they evaporate real soon.
In another life, not so very long ago
I could spend all day in the garden
I would dig and rake and hoe
I’d plant out all the seedlings and prune the roses rare
Water all the vegetables and treat them all with care
But now, I’m very sad to say, those days are left behind
The thing about getting old, it isn’t very kind
But not to worry, you know what, I’ll get some gardening guys
Then they’ll do all heavy work, and I’ll just supervise.
