I ran into a man who was mining
clouds for their silver lining.
And for just a smile, you could buy
an endless supply of good cheer from this guy
to keep the sun in your life perpetually shining.
Mortality
fills our lives
with meaning
Procrastination
the future’s
bane
Today is prized
tomorrow
questioned
The moment’s
treasure
— our souls to claim
(Dreamsleep: October, 2024)
Drowning was so easy aspiration had no cause.
All 'cause once it started raining then since only ever pours.
It's a spiral of destruction nearly out of control.
I'll keep getting worse willingly digging this hole
Drawn to mental illness like I'm plotting a graph.
Like the times I bawl my eyes out then maniacally laugh.
Cant say I'm concerned about the self that I'm losing.
I've always been worthless and that was of my choosing.
Another common mistake bland and run of the mill.
Cannot be called tragic when there's nothing to kill.
Don't like hurting others I'm in love with self abusing.
Comical a let downs never been so amusing.
Never really fit in even if I belong.
Least I'll be a great example of what not to do wrong.
In its thunderous voice, the sky spoke
"Let the rains fall upon you"
"Beware the hurricanes" ...the wind screamed
Electricity filled the atmosphere
Gods raised their rods
Forests trampled by mudslides
Snow blanketed the plains, and...
The deserts oases claimed to be real
Then,
Showing its face; the sun
Spoke in warmth...
"Life"
Let there be!
Combing through the carnage
Questions outnumber answers
Derailed if dwell on the details
Will we forfeit all our advances?
Easy to get singularly focused
On second guessing decisions
Better to not ruminate on regrets
Since the past has no revisions
Power in pivoting to the present
As a new path has been charted
Final destination still unknown
But in a better place than we started
May we be blessed whatever our age
no matter how young or old…
Not to miss the silver lining in the clouds
because we’re too busy looking for the gold.
Some days are soft and pretty, like pale lilac
Others - cold as ice and dark like charcoal black
While some days preserve your peace of mind
Melancholy takes over some, leaving you in a bind
Today, your high spirits might be serving the perfect afterglow
Fears, rage, and uncertainties might hold your soul hostage tomorrow
One day, you could be imagining yourself on the final stepping stone to success
Achieving that dream might feel like boiling the ocean on the next
But that's life - a carousel of perspectives and sentiments
Some training the novices, some draining even the toughest presidents
Here's where you remind yourself of how you made it this far;
About how many bad days you fought through without a scar
And how you didn't ever surrender - being an unsung superstar
So, collect these triumphs to build yourself stronger than ever before
And remember - you must live the bad days to love the good ones even more
SILVER-LINING
Cheated life occasionally yet it couldn't play even.
In life's sequel, I'm swivelled into a deep sweven.
Where's conventionality in a cosmos that's so odd?
Everyone that ever rocked my world
I've dexterously dovetailed into words;
Lyric, ballad, elegy or love sonnet occupies 2-thirds.
Every single trusted love I've ever lost
and that ignorance had collaborated with lust,
I've resuscitated in verse, stanzas & enjambment;
And ameliorated into memory or emotional strength.
Bathed in past disconsolation and the aftermath,
I've never & will never remain on the same wavelength.

On a forest floor
the sky suddenly flashes--
a flood's parting gift
Often she is at the end of her wits
Trying to understand herself
Trying to understand others
And why,
She is a dunce at life
It is said, life can be thought of as either a success or a failure
It is how they will see it
It is how it will be defined
And at the end of her years she will try and do the same
At least that's what Erik Erikson said
And we all define it differently
By her own degree she feels like she is lagging behind
She can't seem to find the silver lining
Much less draw it
Despite the hearing of what she deserves, and something similar along those lines
So allow her to weep buckets
Maybe then it did bring some relief
Like breaking out
We prayed to evade Delta Strain
God dumped on us buckets of rain
Trump spoke to the sky:
"There's no need to cry
My tax returns washed down the drain!"
"Every cloud has a silver lining"
That truly inspires hope...
It reminds us that keeping positive
Is one of the best ways to cope.
No matter what the problem
Just look for the silver lining,
And much, much sooner than you think
The sun, it will be shining.
This numinous path you take
They can neither break nor fake,
Let the strength you wield
Be your humble shield
As we all sink into the abyss
Love is our air of bliss
It’s the light we choose
The light we never lose
She stood silently outside a Home Depot store.
In an endless serpentine Wuhan flu line.
Like everyone else, most of her face was masked.
Except her forehead and around her eyes.
Which were covered in clusters of skin tags.
Magically, beauty and the color of our skin didn't matter.
Sliced from the social equation by a globe trekker devil.
On the outside we all became equal and beautiful.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.
One plus two usually makes three
But in this crazy world, can't always agree
What's just ahead
Something we dread
Or a silver lining shining for you and me
