Fireplaces are fresh,
Cups hold hot coffee
Flannel shirts,
Denim jeans.
Stars are night lights
Untouched snow found.
My son, the college professor
comes home for a visit.
He leaves with all his shirts
ironed, my heart on
every sleeve.

Global warming caused my cancer;
Here I thought my lack of shirts.
Carbon footprint’s karmic answer:
Carcinoma, just desserts.
whining accordions
polka dancers
old women wearing fluffy petticoats
old men in plaid shirts and cowboy hats
Midwestern square dancers
March prances along wearing green
Shamrock shirts and denim jeans
So cold one day and hot the other
I dare say like a bipolar spring lover
a happy childhood no goal posts ~ we built them ourselves with shirts and coats

Under the greasy stove
Behind the washer and dryer
Inside the smelly refrigerator

A spendthrift lady in New Orleans
clothed her wolfhound beyond her means
But he despised his top hats
and old-fashioned spats
Now he sports tie-died T-shirts and jeans

My belly's so jelly
I could cry;

cause I'm way shy,
Big shirts I'll have to buy!

Tom went out one night looking for some fun
he brought with him a water-cannon gun,
wet T-shirts were all the rage
the ladies took center stage...
Tom's cellphone videos were a homerun!
We are selling shirts for six ninety-nine.
They have school colors – tangerine and lime.
They are scratchy and wrinkly most of the time.
Come closer, young pigeons, only six ninety-nine.
Grandpa and grandma formed a senior gang.
They dressed to kill with matching shirts that hang.
Logo; Old As Hell Angels.
Three heavenly archangels,
Pit stop had to make, "A Semi," they sang.
Touching the shirts loyalty
so united in the coat rack...
They live to wear
to the one they love
with proud dedication...

starched shirts hang low,
their sleeves pointing east and west—
directions she taught me
when clouds swallowed the compass.

A washing machine is useful
My shirts need all the help they can get
I get them dirty easily
Machine must work overtime to clean
I hope to keep my shirts spotless
Likely I’ll need the washing machine
