Daddy potato head was using his hoe in a wicked way
Chopping up parsley and rhubarb, throwing it past Monday
Tuesday did not like it, it is shriveled and dried up he said.
Daddy Potato head did not realize he was making them dead....

Mary Ann and Me
Lazy hazy hot summer day
Dewdrops on flowers glistening in the sun
Blowing white wisps of dandelion seeds
Dipping tart rhubarb in bowls of white sugar
Swinging side by side on squeaky swings
Smiling, laughing
Best friends
Forever...

Rhubarb
Kermes crushed to yield the dye;
A warming colour of pinkish hue
But a finer harvest can be made
To delight the eyes and taste buds too

Fine in trifles, crumbles and tarts
Shared after summer walks
Or in the depth of winters cold
We'll devour our crimson stalks...

Sweet Kid
The lemon drop child
looked at the world
through sherbet fountain eyes.
Her sour cherry lips
spouting black jack words,
whilst her mind was an
aniseed twist.

Her rhubarb and custard complexion
and curly wurly
liquorice hair
Belied her treacle toffee soul
No love heart there....

The Best Pie Baker
Grandma was the best at baking pies.
That was a fact nobody denies.
Apple, rhubarb, sweet potato, cherry,
pumpkin, pecan, and don't forget blueberry.
In the kitchen, grandma could be found.
Her fresh-baked pies were the best around.

Frontier
The child has drawn a stick-figure.
Primitive, it lacks a pulse. A child
sees a hero beyond nerve and sinew,
heart red as rhubarb. In buckskin
fringes, gazing into a pool
just struck by lightning.
Three more strokes of crayon
create a stallion at full gallop,
its hooves touching nothing but air....

“In a rundown, the runner is in a pickle that could become a rhubarb.” ~ by poet Rundown. He's trapped between bases being pursued by the fielders who glibly smile because they know they have the advantage, to perhaps overtake and tag the beleaguered runner, to foil the run. Rundown.

Premium Member gaining weight wonder why
feed me butter
give me pie
gaining weight?
I wonder why

Siting in a recliner
for one hour, now two
kicking off my instincts
Maybe three will do

Sitting sedentary
barely moving at all
bring me chocolate cake
and don’t make the piece that small!

Gaining weight my pretty?
Gee I wonder why.
I want another piece of rhubarb.
Don’t be so chintzy with that pie!...

Oh for a taste of rhubarb pie!
Home picked, home baked--
Mouth watering, I don’t lie.

A tart and sweet delicious delight;
Tingles, mingles with the tongue.
Mom always cooked it just right!

Some might let theirs go to waste,
But I’ll eat their piece without delay,
I just love that capricious taste!

Note* I haven’t had a piece of Rhubarb pie
since my dear mom died in ‘94...

I put my shoes on back to front
to step into the past,
sent my watch by express mail
to make the time go fast.
Wrote 'atom' down as 'mtao'
just to generate unclear fusion,
told my friends I wasn't there
but an optical illusion.
Put my head on upside down
for a thicker head of hair and no beard,
when you can't think of topics for a piece of verse, then
what the hell-
do weird....
