Chicks, of the palest glow
Hazel eyes
Addictive aroma
That invaluable smile
I wish I could say
Out loud
Oh Nay Jo
You are mine

Pastel Rainbow Sky
Your eyes are like the sunrise,
Coloured with the palest greens and blues
Of a pastel rainbow sky.
Your eyes have always mesmerized me,
For they are coloured like shades of a sea,
So beautiful, they are, to me....

She awoke to a blazing sun, brightest orb, day’s lover. The moon, jealous of her love, cried for the night’s loss. She, sleeping, missed the soft caress, silken touch, palest rays that beckoned her to waken and taste their sweetness.

She Was a Rainbow
She had bloodshot eyes
and purple bruises
on the palest, white skin,

And her yellowed nails
picked shades-of-brown scabs
	from her arms
where the silver needle
drew red from her veins

Until the day she lay blue
with her black hair a pool
around her head on the green carpet

She was a rainbow......

A Glimpse of Light
My rueful spirit was gowned in a silken shroud of white. Was there no chance my penitent cries had been heard? I searched his pensive eyes for the palest glimpse of light, then he wiped my tears away. His heart had been stirred. Four line poetry contest Sponsor: Constance La France Posted: July 27, 2020

Springing from the highest rocky crags
Tiny treasures, splendid little jewels
High in the drifting blue alpine mists
Strong ladies, survivors of winters cruel

Soft yellow, palest pink and vanilla cream
Tiny bits of heaven, glistening like tear drops
Thrown with abandon on the gray strata
A rainbow promise on the mountain tops...

A mother sat and watched her daughter playing

The palest forest grows softer then brighter in the pastel glint of evening’s light.

Although the woodland dims from shadowed trees, afar

Premium Member she dresses spicy
She dresses spicy with ruffles and satin so bright.
We know she’s here, because the air gets light.
The chiffon on her sleeves are the palest tan.
She dances in high boots, with cutouts that can.

Who is her dressmaker the plain women ask.
She designs herself says her Great Uncle Flask.
He is not always reliable, and a braggart so…
We have no idea if this is the truth, as you know....

Le Sourire De La Sagesse Disparait
Ashes as snow
Falling down

A single tear
On palest cheek

A single fear
So far behind

Living pain
Fades to ceasing numb

Last light
A narrow sliver
Dim horizon

Oblivion
Embrace, dear friend

Sophia...
This is the end

For life can
No longer mend

Sophia
Divine, I adore

Sophia
Her gasping heart

One last beat
All falls apart...

Sophia
Life breathes no more...

Boundliss
Blackberry briar bounds the river: a curb
o’er the levee’s curve; a thorny imbroglio
under which twitters sing in broody milieu
Naught but the resilient do venture within
daunting vine bent in asperity, weathered
Little flyers fluff the brusque in a love filial
In wee caresses, stringent opens soft eyes
Silken white, touched in palest pink, winks
Sweet, sweet, they tweet, for a juicy bliss…

Waiting for the tanning shop to open
has to be, oh has to be,

Waiting in a line,
with the palest skin of skin,

March Promises
Dogwood trees are now in bloom,
jots of color in winter's gloom,
white and plum and palest pink,
against gray backdrops, out of sync.

How I love the month of March!
Like silk opposed to winter's starch.
Robins bounce across the grass,
a sign, for sure, that winter's passed.

The winds of March soon sweep away
all that's dull and brown and gray.
A child of March, I feel reborn,
as Spring flies in, on Marchwind's-borne.

Shade of Gray
Nothing lasts, only memory remains
and even they, fade into distant grays stained,
blends of pale whites, burnished black
rubbed in the shine of towering dusk churning plaque,
clouded skies meshed beyond the light of the sun
to undo what morning had first begun.
Each step was taken in silhouette inflations
faded to shadows cast against a struggled flirtation
where time passes into a stagnating display
the mix of every shade of palest gray....

An Illusion
An Illusion
by Michael R. Burch

The sky was as hushed as the breath of a bee
and the world was bathed in shades of palest gold
when I awoke.

She came to me with the sound of falling leaves
and the scent of new-mown grass;

I held out my arms to her and she passed
into oblivion ...

This little dream-poem appeared in my high school literary journal, the Lantern, so I was no older than 18 when I wrote it, probably younger. I will guess around age 16....

Snow and the Pine Tree
Snow and The Pine Tree

Snowy white pine tree
beneath the palest blue sky
firmly stands waiting

for the sun to shine
as he softly kiss the snow
before letting go

time to part has come
thawing has arrived for the snow
but her touch lingers

her memory lives
in the heart of the pine tree
winter world of love

sweet and gentle snow
slowly melts under the sun
her fingers slipping

its time for the spring
to dance with the pine tree
till she comes again...

The Girl
I see her sometimes,
When the cold autumn air,
Causes blinds to be pulled down,
and fires to be lit.

She sits in a chair,
That is no longer there.
I watch her
while she sits.

Her dress is of the palest blue,
Forget-me-nots
Embroidered on the sleeves.
She knows I watch her,
and she does not care,
But if I try to speak to her,
she leaves.

Sometimes she sits contentedly,
Other times she cries.
I would love to know the story,
Of her life,
and her demise....

Premium Member A Fairy Tale
Looking like a tiny princess
Her dress the palest blue
Gold dust falling round her
A happy giggle as she flew

She laughed and then went flitting
Around the garden park
Resting on a toadstool
Listening to the golden lark

Her feet in rosy satin slippers
With shiny buckles too
I knew I must be dreaming
When she sipped the morning dew

All to soon the picture faded
As I heard a voice so sweet
"Up my dear; its time for school"
Alas, my fairy dream complete...............

Be My Valentine
To call a rose by any other name
Could never do justice to you
To see you name there in the frame
Makes my heart go out to you…

A rose as fair, perfumed to perfection
The palest yellow petals that glow
Make my heart beat as though with infection
My temperature it raises so.

So Mystic lady I ask you this one time
If I were a boy, rich, strong and tall
Would you then be my valentine?
And we can leave now, and sod them all.
