She Was a Rainbow

She had bloodshot eyes
and purple bruises
on the palest, white skin,

And her yellowed nails
picked shades-of-brown scabs 
	from her arms 
where the silver needle
drew red from her veins

Until the day she lay blue
with her black hair a pool
around her head on the green carpet

She was a rainbow...
