Tick tock
Hook's croc?
Door Creaks
It Speaks
"Snack time
Your Mine"
Eye Peaks
Kid freaks
Night screams
Bad dreams
powerless creek creaks
unable pond pondering
sun shimmering hope~
a nuturing nature hails
chilly issue jiffy freeze
Tingles, Twinges, Creaks
signs that don't need to speak
of time's effect on our physiques
Tingles, Twinges, Creaks...
on tip-toe, into
the darkness, a-ha! the cash!
he stumbles, door creaks...
waves of guilt, waves of terror
engulf him, nerves shot, gills green

Breathe out.
Watch the dust.
Phone buzzes.

Reply.
Back begins to ache.
Sirens somewhere.
House creaks.
Phone buzzes.
Read text.
Ignore.

A creaking floorboard that never creaks; clearly something’s here.
Feeling like someone’s behind me; staring; chills tapping on my spine.
Ethereal spirit traveler, passing through my house.
only a runaway child
knows the true sounds
of an old house
It is not silent
It creaks and shutters
gives breath at every door
if you are caught
nobody listens to the inside
of a house from the outside
The old ornate rusted gate creaks and groans with my grief and I fall weeping-

Weak audible creaks from a faded pub sign
Preludes a visual crash, combed by critical eyes
Though the structure was sound
The worn brackets were faint
Flaking words curled and dropped
With the tired peeling paint.
almost dawn awake again insomniac counts depression mounts
trapped evil tree creaks birds sing phone cannot ring
twilight drones lethargic moods rotten souls dark holes
moon howls wind roars thoughts blur upon silent air
Spring sunlight warms distant hills
Soft petals drift across fields
Yet cold winds shake an old door
Door creaks open, my heart yields

The moon
so hazy
in early winter sky
fights to break through
denied, she
casts her spell
undercover
as a door creaks
near me
while streaking
across the sky
a ghostly hag
on her broomstick
~ cackles
Convicted witch
Who cursed the rich
Will strangle in
A rope-choked grin.
The gallows creaks!
Before two weeks
The duke she named
Collapses, lamed.
His crops decay,
His hair grows grey,
And two weeks more
His lips froth gore.

white clouds of dogwood
geese trumpet beside the pond
bird song heralds morn
hollow makes a nest
dainty dwelling slumbers on
in the wooded gloom
screen door creaks open
smoke swirls from the chimney mouth
cabin stirs awake ~
Black
silence
wakes me up
spooky feeling
my heart beats eighty miles an hour
who and where I am does not register
hyper hearing
kicking in
fast heart
fear
noise
sudden
startles me
outside door creaks
too paralyzed to run I wait for it
“Nip and tuck” her surgeon says,
crow’s feet on the run
Tighter skin on feathered whims,
botox zero-sum
An ageless wonder creaks inside,
bones preserve the tale
And when she smiles her lips on fire
—wanton to regale
(The New Room: December, 2021)
night pulse
weird creaks
dim shapes
move neath
tall trees
ferns vines
pits mounds
of trees
that fell
time has
claim with
moss mats
lie low
small bugs
mice stir

Dark
Terror
Creaks and groans
Trepidation
Merciless sea winds
Unrelenting shrieking
Cold with fright under duvet
The stairs move with heavy footfalls
The door handle moves, I'm rigid with fear
Familiar voice informs 'it's a foul night'.
long-locked
door of the coldest of hearts
- a curmudgeon's -
creaks open with a touch
thawed, at last
by the warmth of sunlight
a new puppy brought
Still
Of night.
My house creaks.
Speaks with noises.
Tells of memories.
Holidays often shared.
Many pets have come and gone.
The sweet aroma of this home.
One child to leave this lovely address ~
We have been blessed to live in this place.

November 2012
a door creaks inward,
the sky folds in, saying not leave
nor enter
not lost, not quite returned
my hands forget their kedge,
stillness 'neath the murmur
somewhere between blur and flame
a yes dissolves into never,
I mistake the hush for an answer
Tesla 3-6-9
My door is made of solid bronze
but doesn’t have a lock
Patina’d with the stain of blood
from all the battles fought
It swings upon a rusted hinge
and creaks when open wide
To welcome back the future-past
the present safe inside
(Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania: August, 2020)
an silent green comes in between,
when you do cross the doorstep,
the lampost leans, creaks quiet obscene,
should i just take one more step,
or depart from terrors sheen,
of Russells 'Green Aura scene,'
i'll take not one more step,
between...
