couch sublime for retiree - space spat midst family of potatoes
Monoku composed: August 27, 2020
Once I saw an oddly grouchy grouch,
grousing away on an old couch,
gaping menacingly,
as I eat happily,
my juicy chicken soupy lunch.
Lazy Daisy sat on a couch
Lazy Daisy was a slouch
All the free money
And all the free checks
Couldn’t give Daisy some self respect
Cigarette-stenched couch,
How he lays there with a slouch.
His blue-striped sweater
So warm and comfortable,
Any weather, good or bad.
And behold, I'm shocked.
Lying on the leather couch.
Make a snide remark.
Making nightly pray.
Whisper in your ear, "Be Mine".
Nothing on the plan
A comfortable couch to lie on
A big bowl of buttered popcorn
An interesting Netflix movie on
What else do you want?
spots four-legged friend
tilts head and starts to whimper ~
pooch watching TV

Donald Trump never had any doubt
He could hear Melania shout:
"Oh for goodness' sake
How long does it take
For a couch potato to sprout?"
grandson sleeps on couch, wrapped up like a tortilla -
guest rooms are empty
its part game
to have fame
ouch
its the casting couch
to get that part

mabe you will regret
to get its
HOLLOWOOD AND SEX
Shaped like balls under the couch
Piled high behind the nightstand
Son’s socks find a home elsewhere
Just not in closets

Hey hey baby
What you say
A roll in the hey
Or just sit on
The couch
And waste the day
Watching movies
Don’t matter to me
For still im free
World wide wonder webs, watch thread
She spins in the dead of the night.
Fright in the bite of the witchy head
Woman black widow on the couch. Ouch!
There once was a man named Stan.
His rump was too big for his van.
He sat down on his couch.
It yelled out a loud ouch.
This made him feel less of a man.
In a previous life
I was a woman’s bicycle seat
Envied by all couch potato men
My life has gone downhill since then
Now my old friends call me Depends
In my mind
The couch turns blue
From its real red
Developed true
Lumpy and soft
But absent of glue
It feels empty…
Without you
Russell Sivey
Shahadat, the nonspiky haired
He doesn't like to be compared
He loves kids too much
That's why he wants to be a couch
For facing misfortunes he is prepared.
BANDIT, THE CAT
I know a cat named Bandit
He's so cute you can hardly stand it
He sits on the couch
In a nonchalant slouch
Which says, it's mine, I command it
Football's my neighborhood's religion
its altar, the couch near the kitchen
Worshiping the big-screen television
every home in the subdivision
Mike Mokes was a devoted couch potato.
It started only months out of the cradle.
He had found his groove
And refused to move.
'Til his house was hit by a tornado.
The Room Drains...
The room drains to sepia.
A long distant relative
in a bowler hat,
smoking a pipe;
strokes your dog.
The one
on the couch.
Needle on Our Couch
Sat on sharp needle on our couch,
And did feel obligated to say ouch;
Many cheers;
Moore beers;
Are accusing me of being a grouch.

I suggest
you continue
teaching ABC's
coloring inside
the lines
if you please
an open mind
is required
not a degree
so stay
on the couch
leave the
poetry to me
Yes I am holding down the couch.
Thank you for noticing.
Tomorrow?
Why not?
I’m the most experienced.
Obviously the best for the job
What kind of money are we talking?
