various shapes and sizes
avalanche of black and blue
when all was serene
could see it all raining down
loved ones obstructed from view
Hawk lands on friendship branch,
Betwixt two oaks, embracing hands.
Its breach cannot provoke an avalanche.
Sturdy and tight, their friendship stands.

Shivering,
plagued by a freak storm,
avalanche of angst,
gnawing at my haggard bones,
grim nightmare
Tossed leaf self,
bold inner tempest,
I might quell, stanch, freeze,
with sheer gumption and stark brawn,
madcap dream!
Nearly on the mountain's summit.
To plant his "I did it!" flag,
Only to be flushed down
By fate's rumbling avalanche.
Nevertheless, keep your pity;
He's halfway up on second try.
The subtle beauty of the Aurora Borealis
So stunning it almost takes your breath away
An avalanche of quickly changing colors
As if fairy sprites in delighted mischief play
For the Aurora
and Avalanche contest
