Poetry soupris
Soupris being French for sighs
And we all breathe them
At different times in our lives

We breathe them in relief
And maybe in our sleep
Exhaled after we've railed
Against the nightly thief

Poetry soupris
Potato soupris served cold
Alphabet soupris
Spelled out in the bowl

Sighs of relief
Sighs that matter
Sighs of release
In thoughts that scatter

(Carole Landis
"The sigh heard round the world"
Only Twenty-nine
When we lost "your baby" girl)

Sorrowed soupris
During suffering endured
Godly suffering
Soupris when your cured

Soupris relenting
Served during your sentence
The sighs, the soupris
As we seethe through repentance

Now that the war is over
And you have traveled home
Awaiting and waiting
To breathe out this soupris poem

Let the soupris fly away
And all things al dente (to the tooth)
If this were the Seventies
I’d hope your needle finds its groove

these days I question more and more
my faiths and what their purposed for
while evil grows to breadths unseen
beyond, it seems, where it has been

oh grant me sense and help me live
with deep, dark things I can’t forgive
those angers towards the culprits of
coarse misdeeds done to those I love

hushed secrets banned from leaving lips
that sink sweet souls and hearts like ships
            unblemished spirits stained and drowned
by friends and folks with greed unbound

I’ve tried so hard through love to free
those hates that seethe inside of me
but I’ve not now or e’er such sweep
for sufferance that broad or deep

        so …

I’ll hand them up to grander strengths
a Grace that knows no walls or lengths
and pray that such is pardoned me …
the wealth of wrongs … I’VE brought to be.

Struggle of Being a Lady

Her beauty turned to malison and woe,
As ladies, envious, scorn her radiant face,
Their hearts, inclined to rivalry, bestow,
A bitter enmity, her charm’s disgrace.

The world casts down her fortune with its spite,
Her colleagues seethe when she but speaks to one,
The officers and ministers, not right,
Exploit her grace, their honor left undone,

She faces all the world with matchless heart,
And ward the wolves in men with stead fast might,
Her struggle tames her family’s raging part,
To prove herself a lady of great light

A nation seeking progress shall revere,
Such women, striving still to persevere.

Cooling The Fire

Our words seethe like fire;
Crackling as we watch them blaze
Into a burning smoke of anger
Till the quiet of midnight cools,
Extinguishing what we had fed.

Dun Days

Dun days? Clouds above in greys?
Sapphire? Purple haze?
Deterrence, dessicate, cays.
Buildings on the raze.

World around in twilight.
Months ahead a-grim.
Heart within me, burn with fight!
Crater, have thy rim...

Ocean, boil. Intestines, roil.
Ignite, O my soil.
Lightning, fry. My music, broil.
Serpents, time to coil.

Torment, grip each human life.
Quest, on edge of knife.
Fate and Fortune, seethe with strife.
Demon-sultan, fife.

Tyrant of tomorrow?
Of him I never heard.
Surcease sorrow, I borrow!
Tower dark, thy third.

Wind, tear down. Abhor, my crown.
Demolish the town!
Carnival chaos, thy clown.
Hope, see self as flown.

Flickering flame, explode. Death, come.
Doom, hover o'er all.
Chord suffering, play for some.
Family, how ye gall.

Terror, strike. O Panic, lurch.
Bake and flay, O life.
Silver were the trees of birch!
Wisdom, thou art rife!

Vintage Vine

Seven and one, open gates!
Zero, cancel wild!
He who suffers, first berates!
Listen, auld to child!

Errors of the prophets?
By necessity, none.
Perfect record, get the fits?
Oracle, scion, pun?

Ergo, O my time and space!
As above, below!
Meteor, dark fire, displace.
Broken, O my bow...

Dread, thy bed. Bend back, bring. Born.
Death, thy sacred sand.
Dagger, axe, hell, heaven, horn.
Doom within all, planned...

Falcon, fix sight fast on fate.
Coals of wrong to burn.
Sight of silver haze, my krait?
Venom, how you churn.

Furious the strait? Hate? Why?
Out and holding on?
River, bluegill, is a-sly!
Sea-bass, take the pawn!

Tallest mountain, reply? Well...
Think on that awhile.
Hope, accrue? Cast well thy spell:
Quill, seek. Gentle, guile.

Vine, grow o'er. Hinterland, seethe.
Break on cliff, vast wave.
He who bereaved last did breathe.
Others, foot in grave.

Shots Fired

The door exploded.
When she slammed it,
detonations riddled his body,
shock and anger
galloped over his mind
both riding the same horse.

Molten emotions dripped in the air,
a seethe like lava, a floe that clung
even as she ran down the long staircase,
heels ticking off
all the wrongs of his tongue.

They ate the apple, but the worm
in the fruit ate her.
It was forbidden
by the birds in the sky.
She begged to be liked
from the lip of her grave.

No one will shoot her for being
vulnerable.
They will kill him for loving her,
for he knew now
how a door explodes,

how it speaks
of the hand that slams it,
and the birds of the sky
will not forgive her.

THE LIGHTS

Could you not seethe lights
From a giant airplane
That's in the sky
Moving forward
Even at night, causing
Those young innocent kids
To lose their lives

Let Life Lead On Little Light

Let the sun rest
Though it has no nest

Let the moon relax
Somehow busy all day on tracks

Let the leave be still
Not until it becomes ill

Let the teeth shine
Only not when to dine

Let mercy abound
Cum moments, sin compound

Let the poor breath
provided when hustling seethe

Premium MemberBelly-breathing

Too tense? Stressed out? 24/7 Pressure?
There’s a remedy, for absolute sure
If with anger or angst you constantly seethe
What you’ve got to do is belly-breathe

That’s right, don’t breathe through your mouth or nose
Let your belly rise and fall, wiggle your toes
Yor tension will abate, stress disappear
Pressure? What pressure? Away with fear!

You may think I’m just another weirdo, wacko poet
But belly-breathing even saves lives ~ paramedics know it

Premium MemberAlways Bold

         Even broken I'm bold enough
I breathe hope at every moment.
        As pessimist not to lament.
        Ambition shines on firmament.

At every breathe dazzling my hope.
Ready to use the exact scope.
         Always rational, not to grope.
                                Even life appearing too tough.

At every moment hope to breathe.
         Dynamism inspires to seethe.
         Positivity to get sheathed.
Even when path of life turns rough.

Ray of hope to enlighten me
         No stagnancy, progressing free,
though Future is never to see.
lf grief stricken, I try to laugh.

Heart is broken ? But hope beats drum.
Courage is pivot , also fulcrum.
I will bounce back on strength - spectrum.
                             Overcoming rue I will burp.

On spewing wave, our departing ride
Crazed currents crack, an azure slide
Freedom mingles in sea foam seethe
Cobra throat coast gulps river relieve
     Estuary entry rests, rushing ruthless
Canoe oar dip downtempo soothe us

     Convulsing closing, seen from stern
To mayhem mouth we shan’t return
Silver silt filters salt, lake lap littoral
     Ranges ahead etch graduating blues
Drift beside reeds, bird pews hymnal

     Harp strum seraphim strike chords
     Nacreous nematodes writhe towards
Tiny sun centre lace tutus feverfew

Anger in All

By: Katie Davis Written on 6/29/22 Revised on 10/28/24
Anger, burning hot enough to melt a calm mind.
Anger, boiling, steaming like a volcano shaking the earth ready to erupt the pain out of a blistering soul.
Anger stewing, building way beneath. Trying to contain thyself in a fragile encasement.
Breathe. In and out.
In and out.
Just breathe.
Don’t let it simmer and seethe for worse is the actions that are done in anger.
In and out.
In and out.
Keep breathing, keep surviving.
Anger that is like a trick candle that is thought to be blown out, but the flames keep on returning and can burn down what is built.
So be careful.
Anger in all.

Army of One

Alone I drift, a vagabond psuche, haunted by daughter's lifeblood and husband's self-exploded mind, a diseased landscape. Frantic fingers dance on the page as I conjure reason's faint glow, a desperate chainsaw whirring solace in the abyss. Bloodlust welts of fury scorch the script, a deranged catechism of hedonistic, as I shriek into the fray, my frame a torched earth, solar barren and bereft. Scum-ridden silver glares back, mocking reflections of futility, as I seethe venomous disgust, a reckoning’s reckoning, spewing forth vitriol to corrode the granite complacency. Specters of forgotten faces fragment, a ghastly kaleidoscope of doctored truths, as I screech at the echoing of a hollow existence, a funeral dirge for the self that never was. And smile at the reflection of who I am supposed to be, single-mother-effer's manifesto, don’t effing question she, you don’t have the piano fingers to come near my grace on the keys, I tie cherries with my tongue, have your berries blue by morn, my hands are a whole different story.

Sometimes I amaze even me — this is poetry!!
