nightmares blooming in color
like a midnight fire
casting its embers into
tomorrow's dawning

with a blood red sun burning
into the new day
the shadows of doom refuse

Hope I Will See You Again

In the cruel hand of fate, death claimed you too soon,
Leaving me with memories, and a heart in perpetual gloom.
If there were a way to defy mortality's grasp,
I'd have found it, to keep you here, to cherish every moment's past.

The ache of knowing you're gone, forever lost to me,
Echoes through my soul, a hollow melancholy.

Teeter Totters

I’m tired of the teeter-totter polemics 
that pass for profundity.
I’m tired of the see-saw tug of war,
the streaming regurgitation on every channel.

Yes, I’m weary of the predictable posturing,
the vapid, barren landscapes of the oligarchy.
I am groggy in the dull fog of capitalist pretense,
the plutocratic hubris sold by carnival barkers.

Why the Pond Won't See Me

I peer in the pond
to see how nature sees me
a pure simple face—
but the image there is blurred
out of focus and disturbed

drops drip on the pond
my image quivers to rings
shaking what's seen there—
a dark shadow of myself
disturbed by faint puffs of wind

pond refuses me
a still life true reflection—
like a photograph
taken with flash-freeze device
for I'm incomplete

See the impacted eyes, heavy
and the frozen heart, begging
to be released; the tongue
dry, but the cheeks like a flume.
See the round table keep things
close to their chest, lest they spill
the fragility, each glass fragment
that stabs, glues together like
a madman’s vase, complete

I saw my small sister Sofia on a see-saw,

I Don't See What You See

Sparrows enjoy a certain reputation
For intimacy and hope

Sparrows are bulkier than the normal song bird
And not particularly

Brown and gray as a mound of dirt

Meadow of clustered flowers

~ a delightful extravaganza
