To A Certain Poet

To a Certain Poet
by Frank Daub

Your modesty -- regarding talent? BECOMING to your SOUL.
The decision to embrace this thought? Belies your role –
	As MESSENGER.

Long ago you took the mission
To tell beauty in words and lines.
Now time has blurred your vision.
Now doubt has wormed your mind.

Think about the adulation –
Deny those words are true!
It is you might stop creation –
It is you must see it through!

AW....G'WAN.....Y'ER MAKIN' ME BLUSH..... that final couplet captures the essence of poesy and the frailty of poets.

Every poet, one-time or other, in the course of his poetic journey begins to doubt if his/ her poetic talent is warning. It's quite natural. This sort of a word of encouragement will boost the poet in self doubt. Your good intentions are much appreciated. Congratulations Frank on your POTD.

Valsa, Thank you for your comment on A Certain Poet. The poem was intended to support one of us who was having some doubts about being able to sustain the spirit and demands required in this ancient art of wordsmithing. Don’t we all face this every time we are moved to practice this form of messaging, of putting values and written beauty before the eyes and souls of readers. Go on with this challenge. You are one of many poets who want so much to deliver hope, joy, laughter, Faith, yeah? Frank Daub

Thank you, Sara The joy of this recognition is that poets, such as you, value encouraging one another to practice the art we love, to accept the sacrifices and self-doubts that are constant hills to climb, and to nourish our determination to stay the course. Thank you. Frank Daub

Tania, Thank you for your comment. This has been a joyous experience. I owe the success of this poem to a dear friend. who is a great poet and, as we all do who dare to choose poetry as our messaging, has had some struggles. Frank Daub

Ah, it’s like reading a monologue from a Shakespeare play! This is brilliant and so well written. I especially love: “Now time has blurred your vision. Now doubt has wormed your mind.” Those words are soul-hitting, dear Frank. Don’t we all find ourselves in such situations, where doubt crawls in and we begin to look down on ourselves? I was there yesterday ~ reading back some of my poems. I realized I tend to be redundant. But at least I express what I feel. A pleasure reading you today. Sending you light, always. Congratulations on receiving POTD! 💃🧜‍♀️

A stirring, generously crafted address to the poet as both artist and “MESSENGER.” The alternating rhyme and firm, exhortative rhythm give the poem a resolute forward motion, while its theme—faith in one’s creative calling despite doubt—feels heartfelt and affirming. The central message is particularly personal and encouraging: regardless of fading confidence or blurred vision, the poet should not stop creating. “It is you must see it through!” lands less like a general statement about artists and more like an affectionate, emphatic vote of confidence in one specific writer. Congratulations on POTD your talent is shining through.

Thank you, Deb There is a Certain Poet who has shared some concern about feeling as if composing poetry may be a fading skill. This is certainly not true! As for you, I commented on your work because it IS talented and so worthy of your continued efforts. Sometimes we struggle with our writing. That is a deeply rooted part of the poetic art. Stay true and determined, yeah? Keep the pen inked and the mind locked on why you took up this difficult art! Frank Daub
