Hens and Robins

  
     hens and robins warm their eggs
        nesting, they cover their legs

     these mothers, innate modesty display
        values from yesterday ~ for today

as she warbles her mothers song
melody flows from east to west
red robins eggs are in her nest
song birds agree her songs the best
her neighbors gather in a throng

ROBINS IN THE CHERRY LAUREL TREE

Near the end of our walk the other day we were blessed to see
hundreds of robins enjoying breakfast in a cherry laurel tree.

In Florida this time of year the fruit of the Carolina Cherry Laurel
turns black and shiny and sweet….
sending a message to all the robins that…it is time to eat.

The Daffodils’ Song to Nesting Robins

In spring's caress, daffodils hum low,  
Robins weave nests as rain begins to flow.  
Gentle drops fall, a lullaby so sweet,  
In rhythms soft, where earth and sky meet.

Daffodils' song, ever so brief in time,  
Fades beneath rain's melodious chime.  
Yet in this moment, life anew is blessed,  
As

rose robin reaches
royal rippling rush rivers 
returning rove rain

Robins Land

A flock of robins land
Devour all the worms
Eat the oak's acorns small
And swiftly disappear
Come again as spring enthralls

A flock of robins land
Upon the green front lawn
Trees suddenly revive
Green leaves slowly emerge
Nature begins to thrive

A flock of robins land
Soon dogwoods' blossoms white
Open at crack of dawn
It unfolds 'fore my eyes
Deers deliver those fawns

WINTER'S ROBINS-

winter's robins some -
still here standing on power 
lines regiment wing -
~
to wing trying to-
 stay warm thirty-degrees warm
them there winter's robins

Boy At the End

My Huskie watches the sailboats
From the end of our dock
He cannot swim
But still considers himself king of the lake

Not unlike his chase of robins
That flutter from one tree to another
Looking down and over their shoulder
Singing to his snarl

I see my twenty-something visiting son
Sitting the same the next day
At the end of the dock

No boats but

Robins

When I went out this morning,
I heard two robins somewhere singing.
Then, I heard them in a bush;
One said to the other: Shush...
our unhatched babies are laughing.

The Song Birds Symphony

A vibrant red cardinal bursts with song.
He's celebrating the break of dawn.
Slumbering souls awaken from rest
to the chords of his tiny throbbing breast.
The finches and robins join his serenade.
What a glorious symphony nature has made.

Springtime

springtime
fresh feelings, hopes
robins pleading for worms
shadows discouraged by sunrise
springtide
