Let me put your parenting skills
Under the microscope, my thrills!
You share your food with the young
You eat, regurgitate for the fledging
What childcare, what love & nurturing
You, bird parents take turns food hunting
I adore how you bring food to the nest
You feed the chicks as if you don’t rest!
You, dogs and cats hunt and share the kill
Mother dogs help the pups to eat to the fill
I see animals bring down prey and feast
In a social order, in packs, this, that beast
I see parent animals teach their young
To walk, hunt & who says that`s wrong?
Apes & simians feed each other when caring
For the wounded or the ill, when …yes, dating!
I don’t know whether elephants teach their young
Courting, but yes, food choices & a good tongue!
Said Jonson, vulgar rhyme a petty crime
Swindling paupers begging fleeting stime
Opined syllabic compress from simple mimes
Which o'er lazy, temporal lobes did climb
Simple, jingoistic rhythms to prime
A crutch to prop up ailing metric time
Yet, Nature's species exist in kind
Mutated limbs rarely another tract find
Elliptical, redundant patterns planets bind
To their orderly, repetitive cadence resigned
Weather systems to each season assigned
Subsistence and providence congruently aligned
Catchy rhymes are not mongrel flem
Syllabic stress each base line does hem
Its melodic sound caresses the requiem
The ballast that holds each leaf to stem
Glossy makeup that bastes face so prim
Crown jewel of every verse, syntactical diadem
For months our sun has hovered overhead
To crack the barren earth across its land.
The streams run dry, no summer buds expand,
No desert death has ever been so dead.
No haven safe as place where souls can run
Since truth, in brutal slumber, woke and found
A final fury tightly wound around
Each ember edifice of dying sun.
Malignant flaws turn light on human fears
and consequential truth replaces lies
as man forms memories with last goodbyes
remorseful eyes pour out torrential tears.
The final surge of heat falls harsh upon
The raw reflection of an amber dawn.
