Resting Above the Waves

There is a stone behind my eyes
it sits calmly in a troubled sea.

My peace is to rest there
on that stones round summit
naked of all emotion.

I am not cold of heart
just divorced from the waves.

When I wish to swim, then I swim,
often
while watching others drown
within themselves.

Premium Memberold table

old table

sitting across from one another
words spoke what their eyes already knew
and the thoughts in her mind so freely poured
like cascading water in a pool of pure blue

they talked and laughed about yesterday
as if yesterday had a name of its own
and made plans to last beyond forever
yet they knew forever would soon be gone

painted with entanglements and gloomy shades
the old table was now tilted with a shadow of gray
bearing initials carved in the wooden top
to remind them of the joys of yesterday

now sitting across from one another
words they have spoken were already known
as long lost memories too soon forgotten
were here today then so quickly gone

Resting Place

Then truth must become a resting place
For my soul

When my thoughts scatter
As ripples upon the sea
Created by pebbles
Tossed carelessly

When my heart bruises
As fragile as wings of a butterfly
Ripped and torn as by a child
Just passing by

When my feet are tattered
As painful as a soldier’s wounds
Yet he still struggles to stand
From dusk to noon

When my head is bowed as Atlas
Who was compelled to carry the weight
So even the heavens mourned
Because of his plight and his fate

Then the truth must become a resting place
For my soul

Premium MemberResting in unknowingness

Our mind may know or it may not
What’s knowledge got to do with us
What is thought but a narrow slot
Birthing but dark fears that nonplus

Here on earth for a brief sojourn
We need the mind and senses five
But soul’s fire that in heart does burn
Is God’s light that keeps us alive

It matters not how fast we drive
Or the quantum of our net worth
What counts is soul’s light we revive
That has our heart bubbling in mirth

My final resting place

My final resting place.

I may be in the room next door
I may be down the hall,
Don’t you try looking for me
As you won’t find me here at all.
I’m in my final resting place
A place where you can’t see,
A place where you can’t visit
And sit and talk with me.
But I am always with you
And believe me when I say,
I will be here waiting
When it comes to your ‘resting day’
Where we can be together
And sit and laugh and cry,
But don’t you rush to join me here
With the birds up in the sky.
Please just keep this promise
That you will always be,
That lovely, true, kind person
Who always saw the best in me.
The person who I turned to
When things were good or bad,
And even though I’m gone now
I beg you, please don’t feel too sad.
When you think of me from time to time
And a tear rolls down your face,
I tell you I am happy here
In my final resting place.

Resting

Everything is worse when I lie down.

Because then I can feel the throbbing and pulling.

As if someone is doing surgery on me, but I’m awake somehow.

It doesn’t hurt, it’s just pressure.

It doesn’t hurt, it’s just this bursting sensation.

As if my organs are made of bubble wrap.

So that’s why I can’t lie down.

So that’s why they’re making me lie down.

Resting My Faith

Resting my faith in you through the storm,
I will cry out to you Oh sweet Lord,
If your voice can calm a raging sea,
Cease my thoughts and speak peace through me.

When the sea rises above my head,
I will not drown in the thoughts of death,
Focus my heart on you till the end,
I want to see you Lord, my great friend.

Never to take my eyes off you God,
Trusting you will take me far beyond,
Step out on water to walk with you,
Every wave in my mind has been calmed.

I'll rest my Faith in you through the storm,
Conquering all that the sea will form,
No matter the battle, no matter the war,
True peace in Jesus is worth fighting for.

A PRAYER FOR A RESTING SLEEPING CHILD

Beloved child of the most-high God;
 Rest in the arms of Jesus;
May God will protect and surround you;
Set His watch over you as you sleep;
This night;
Awakening on the New Day Dawn;
Refresh, blessed and bright;
You are in the Father’s Heart,
You are His daughter and all is well;
For you in this night;
In Jesus name Amen;
Amen;

Premium MemberResting In the Lord

Resting my thoughts, I look unto Thee
Your peace flows divine
Resting my fears, I can clearly see
My ways, You align

Resting my worries into Thy care
All I need is trust
Resting my sorrows, I say a pray'r
Faith in You is must

Resting my mind, for You see my thoughts
Know me inside out
Resting my plans, for You call the shots
Remove any doubt

Resting, I know You are my Maker
You're the true Shepherd
Knowing You're not a promise breaker
Resting in Your Word

Resting in Your love, I find healing
No scars, I'm made whole
Resting under Your wings, I'm feeling
Rested in my soul.

I Said Can I Rest

I asked, Can I rest
God said, Yes
Now I'm blessed
Relieved the stress
Deciding to Rest
got me to my best
So, so blessed
Who would've known
Deciding to rest
is passing the test!

Resting In His Spirit

The one thing that has stayed present all year long...
Is the idea in my head that He has given me my song...
To give praise and admonishment where ever I go...
I will rest in His spirit of that I surely know...
For He is the peace in the good and the bad...
And my comforter in the happy and sad...
I pray that in this up and coming year...
You each find His promises offered down here...
And that is His arms open wide waiting to give a show of love...
As well as a heart that reaches down from Heaven above...
Giving hope in the miracles He does create...
To convince us to rest in His spirit fully while our souls He does await.

When the sun sets, flecking clouds with diaphanous light and birds whistle daytime’s last summer psalms, we call it night.

We’re moonbathing and Sunny’s features are inlaid with glamorous silver-blue patines. We’ll reawaken soon, our time is measured in assignments, not in hours, days or even seasons.

Responsibility is a villain of our own devices. You can run from it, bolt your door against it, only to find it’s right there - in back of you - smiling like a tiger or a parent.

Unfortunately, the university isn’t a hotel. It’s more of a competition, like those survivor shows.

We’ll enjoy the moonlight, for a few, laconic moments, for it seems to possess a sweet power to cool and calm, but soon our purposes will call, irresistibly, and we’ll return to the performance.
.
.
Merriam Webster: laconic: brief to the point of seeming rude.
