Shining lights reveal the night,
Exposing wrong from right,
Often they'll try to bite,
Evade them with hindsight.
Hold tight to you,
That authentic view,
Always stay true,
To what you love to do.
Shining like a diamond,
To all who come through.
This path was meant for you,
Create something new,
Using the tools given to you.
Shine through the dark,
Relight that spark,
The world is getting pretty dark.

Inviting him for a meeting at our Rosebank Park.
Sitting together on a once marked bench, even after dark.
Trying to reignite and relight that spiritual spark.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whilst an ivory sky, my mast ignite.
As tidal waves flicker in sparks that gleam.
Igneous scarlet pyres still blazing night.
The amber sparks hover in swooping sight.
Amid thunder, boisterous shivers scream.
Whilst an ivory sky, my mast ignite.
The limestone chunks resemble carved calcite.
With furnace flames in phosphorous agleam.
Igneous scarlet pyres still blazing night.
As I gaze upward, pitch and haze relight.
Steadfast, I plunge where evil spirits teem
Whilst an ivory sky, my mast ignite.
Rancid stench of the city stinks of blight.
Above lagoons, as muddy smog or steam.
Igneous scarlet pyres still blazing night.
A phoenix amidst the fire, set alight.
overhauled from ashen sidle, wings' dream
Whilst an ivory sky, my mast ignite.
Igneous scarlet pyres still blazing night.
Parody: “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”
Shine and glow you giant Star;
We are blessed for what you are!
Up above the world so high;
Large, round fireball in the sky!
Now our Sun- but once a Star-
We are blessed for what you are.
When the silver Moon is gone;
Fades its glow- can't shine upon
your new dawn comes to relight-
spreads your rays until the night.
Now our Sun, but once a Star-
We are blessed for what you are.
In the light blue sky, you keep,
And through bedroom curtains peep;
For you never shut your eye
Till your sunset fills the sky.
Now our Sun, but once a Star-
We are blessed for what you are.
As your bright and brilliant spark
Lights our Earth until its dark-
We know well the gift you are!
Shine and glow, you giant Star;
Now our Sun, but once a Star-
We are blessed for what you are.
For you I’d lay awake through open heart surgery
I’d walk through fire and shower in mercury.
Whatever it takes, if only you knew
I’d relight the sun to make the world brighter, For you
I’d burn my heart with a lighter.
Maybe you did know
And you watched me burn as long as I’d endure it
I became what you want and you punished me for it.
Always the fool to believe in forever
Not realizing my time was already up
Avoiding conflict my puerile endeavor
I cried the water that filled your cup
It was then I realized I was not the fool
I was a girl in love without knowing what it was
Sitting content in toxic garbage
Offering up my mental health
For you I was willing to hurt myself
But it wasn’t my fault
Partially at relief is a girl stuck in the 2nd stage of grief
No jabs to the heart or fire to my skin
I cried the river I should’ve drowned you in
Living Truth
Ancient guides of venerated truth
Stumble through numb spiritual graveyards
Where truth casts its shadow in chiseled words,
A signature of affection,
On moss bathed alabaster stones that once
Gleamed in treasures of veracity,
Autographed insights of the ancient sages
Screams out the litany of wisdom
Then begs, like balm, the insomniac unconscious heart
To intone a resurrection,
A living trove of living verbs in action
Breaking from the bondage of a chrysalis redecorated
With raw promises to shake off stagnation,
Relight the lantern star of the eternal spring’s veracity
Springing into actions that rise from stone inertia
Insight’s revelation releases a new song of songs
Truth that lives anew –
That propels the quest of new a-ha’s
That plants new reasons for renewed actions
In the waiting heart embraced.
i may be over you,
completely out of love,
drained of the infatuation.
but i still get butterflies when i see you.
when you walk in the room.
when you smile.
they come alive, eating at my heart.
telling me to try and relight the candle,
that once used to burn and now sits in ashes.
what do i do now that your candle burned out too?
My uncle took me fishing.
He’d smoke his favorite briar
Stuffing the cherry blend in with stubby
Welsh fingers more suitable for digging coal,
Than compacting mulched tobacco leaves.
A line taut between his index finger and his thumb,
He took a thready pulse of a line strung along the pole.
He told me stories of his growing up:
Painting my grandfather’s car ruined by feathers
Blown in from a cock who’d recently been plucked.
He would hand the pole to me to relight his pipe, he said.
And fumble among the hundred pocket vest
Pockets for his Zippo lighter
I liked surreptitiously to smell
And play endlessly with clicking of its top.
A trout would tug my line, bolt arching up
Above the water’s edge and topple back to tug again.
I’d play it back and forth until I played it up on shore.
And put it in a basket made of hardened wicker weave.
Some men fish for fishing's sake and others to make fishermen. (2/7/02)
What sorcery is afoot in the woods on this October night?
I stir a few embers, and relight myself
The humans asleep or dead, I don’t care which
I am alive, a fire phoenix, replenishing my absoluteness
An owl hoots a warning, trying to wake them up
I begin to dance, as warmth spreads throughout my timbers
Sure, you thought I was dead, but surprise.
I am replenishing myself, understanding no one else will
Sparks! A joy overtakes me as hope and optimism arrive
A flash of yellow, on her way to becoming full out red.
A flame. I scream with happy pops and smacks.
Bam! I am once again a full blown blaze.
Why do these campers never put me out completely?
Do I care? I am leaping, lunging, laughing, loving myself.
My yellows and oranges are dazzling the entire forest.
My flame shadows light up the tents of the sleeping.
I am mystical, magical, ethereal, an alchemist, a sorcerer.
How will they react when they realize I have again
Forsaken them, and burned up another forest thanks to them?
I am impassioned, alive, a full blown pyromaniac of a fire!
I’ve loved your face, night and days of changing milk rays
Sighs in blue and black, of times gone back; now so slack
Love surely does wane, then mind’s sane…what’s to regain?
And the road, in dirt’s goad climbs winding pigsty mode
New moon midnight, holds tight a dark that can’t relight
Damned are the seeds, as they’ve turned to weeds: What inbreeds!
Mother who never did bother to write further
Only too late, her full fate, was father’s sad state
Oh lies have made me cry, but truth, is fair skies
No more half turns, I have learned, those tides I will spurn.
Dear Covid-19,
Life was a rainbow till you came and replaced the chirping of happy birds, the laughter with our families and friends with the wailings of the ambulances’ siren
The swing on our playgrounds is swung only by the winds and storms
And death has unmasked himself, knocking bodly on every door
We are fed with fears whilst our thirst is quenched by our own tears in which we are drowned
You are chanted in the daily lamentations of the widow, the dirge of the orphan, and the screams and griefs of the widower.
So,
I sit in my house, kneeling and praying that you become a past tense
Lost in the history of time, defeated by humankind
As we relight our rainbows
Dancing again to the happy chirping that announced every dawn.
From a concern human
Tenar bass and soprano
And all the voices that I know
Sing one song of peace
Voices that never cease
Now the music is fading
Now The sounds are changing
All the notes are blur
Dim.... not the shining star
Relight the dimming embers
Use all; gasoline and timber
And maybe though two voices
With no more room for choices
We will be one sound
Louder.....FOREVER BOUND
Lighting A Fire
Bic
Light it, the fire
It's burning desire
Desire to be lit,an endless flicker
Like a time clock quite the ticker
I'm yearning, it's burning
The whole flame
You can out it out
It will change
Have you ever lit a grill
With the coals
Did you ever know that you had control
You can put vinegar and water
On it and it will calm down
That's what happens
When you light the fire
What if it were to rain
Would the flame still be lit
What if you wanted something so bad
You would do anything to have it
Light it, even when it's dim
Light it, when the tunnel is cold
Light it,Because it's in you
Light it for all you've been through
Light it until the flame is out
Then relight it that's what it's all about
Petals unfurl
under the passing of her shadow
I am lost in the silences of her face
Her voice strips me from inside
Where blackened embers of self
try to relight
as shame tries
to hide behind
Forgotten how to forget
Skys of tide died
Where colour takes it place
Disguised atop her eyes
Layers of light
humble themselves
beneath the greys
of loves unfiltered gaze
Remember how I use to make you smile?
I can't and my memory never fails.
Perhaps I haven't gone the extra mile,
or could it just be our love has grown stale.
What should we do to relight the fire,
that has woefully dwindled in our night?
Have I painted a picture much too dire,
or is there a chance this flame reignites?
Is there work that is needed on my part,
to repair the damage that I have done?
Maybe there is a simple fix for our hearts,
that can restart this love and make it run.
Perhaps the answer to this problem lies,
in the beautiful art of compromise.
