Reasonably Poems

Premium MemberHyperbole

Poets poised pens pulsating poetry.
Writing wonderful words with wisdom.
Making muses manipulate marvelous minds.
Setting suitable selected scribing schemes.
Regulating reasonably reliable required rhyme.
Also adding acceptable allocated alliterations.
Notable nonsense not necessarily needed.
However haphazard humorous hyperbole happens.

Premium MemberMy Northern Summer

Summers up north are reasonably cool.
Hot, sweltering temps are just not the rule!
So if the heat turns you off,
come up here and have a quaff
of cold beer beside my new swimming pool!

The Wall Between Us

Between us, there's a wall.
On my side, there's an empty hall,
Where I scream and cry.
Then I die, and die, and die.

I'm pleading on my knees,
Fighting the frosty breeze,
Begging for your aid,
Like a poor maid.

The wall seems so reasonably thin,
But you can't hear: "Let me in, let me in."
You just simply don't care,
Which is so awfully unfair.

"Fools Paradise"

If you think you're crazy
Then are you naturally crazy
Or do you just need someone
To  pointed out..,
            ----------
If you think you're sane
Then are you naturally sane
                         ----------
Then who is to say ... But!

But if you think you are a fool
And you have any doubt!
Then the answer is obvious -
And there shouldn't be any doubt!
And you should reasonably
Be able to figure it out!

Dreamer, Go After Your Wishes

Loneliness is confinement rather that fear,
a need to suppress reality;
how dreadful is to live daily
in a closed box without sunshine and air!
Was there a constant voice whispering,
" Go after your wishes, it's freewheeling! "

Roger is an example of sheer irony,
his proposal was rejected by Milly;
nothing he saw was reasonably good,
his days were unappreciative and sad.
Even brilliant minds quickly surrender
to strain: they should know better!

Is there enough confidence
to go after your wishes on quick sand?
No shortcuts are recommended:
you will end up empty-ended;
daring is bold, it needs no courage
to break down that constant rage!

My suggestion to you, buddy is to break free:
get rid of false hypothesis;
dreamer, go after your wishes:
heed these words, don't get stunk by a bee!

Dreamer, go after your wishes:
express thoughts of positivity;
never indulge in self-pity,
spare yourself tons of tears!

Remedy

I remember a place where I've told you once
That if I've told you once it was a thousand times
To let me make mistakes and spare you the burden
And it seemed to reasonably rhyme
But amidst self righteous indignation I realized
The true wisdom earned through self remedied flaw
And thought to myself, now, two thousand times if twice
If anything it meant nothing at all
But what should anything mean really
If not least a lesson
As though teaching lessons
Weren't some twisted obsession
As if any of pain it would lessen, at all
But I can't help but try
Seeing angst in your eyes
On hands and knees as you struggle to crawl

Without U

1
Since 1983, I spent each year
With her, or reasonably near
O to think I once was young, in love
With U (USA) running from African woe
That apartheid in South Africa
Yet I hadn't planned to leave her
I'd visit a month or two, less than a year
Even when I worked (one in Mandela's time,
A deputy director in their State Dept.)
But now, I've missed America much
Four years soon, another home
Albeit for a cause (Great Commission)
How i wish I'd not obeyed "religion"

2
Without you, Sundays are free
I have no religious duty or Assembly
I have little to look forward to
But loving U was stressing me also
I made an healthy choice, the break
Now to live -- hour by hour, by the minute
Here and now, though memories rising like Jesus
Reveal addiction to nationalism.
Romulus? Remus?

Housework

Who was it who said
Housework prolongs your life?
Surely they jest!
They can go take a hike

I've collapsed on the couch
From just the mere thought
After leaving it it far longer
Than I reasonably ought

Where on earth do I start?
I just can't decide where
Each job worse than the last
I feel down in despair

If only.. if only.. if only
I'd done a bit every day
I'd be feeling self righteous
Instead of filled with dismay

I've practiced avoidance
Become expert at ignoring
Now I'm full of regrets
At the state of the flooring

The windows are grimy
The bathroom needs scrubbing
The washings piled up
Somethings blocking the plumbing

Who on earth has the time
To do extras like dusting?
When the fridge in the kitchen
Is looking disgusting?

I'm sure I'd be keener
And find motivation
If housework attracted
CEO compensation

Instead I lie here inert
Filled up with dread
Paralysed with reluctance
I'll eat biscuits instead

Blind Date

Pleased to meet you,
sorry I am late,
I had to take a moment
to check for goo,
and other biological residue.
To scan for
the unsightly stains
of pornographic links,
but it seems
I look the same as ever,
reasonably turned out
for an unadulterated monster
of a human being.

Premium MemberA Little Gossip

...or In One Ear and Out to the Bridge Club...

Everybody likes a little gossip,
Everybody likes to hear a bit of dirt.
It brightens conversations,
And arouses shocked sensations,
And might cause some mild vexations,
But should never, never, never ever hurt.

What the neighbors do should be nobody's business,
It's not your fault if they don't keep their curtains drawn.
Besides, you're reasonably sure
That's what binoculars are for,
And if you hide behind your door,
What you can see them do by them is never known.

The Browns across the street are having problems,
He's been sleeping on the couch since New Year's Eve.
It seems those last two business trips
Involved some extra-marital "slips".
You're not adept at reading lips,
But gossip needn't be precise to be believed.

Yes, everybody likes a little gossip
To discuss at lunch, or brunch, or over tea.
To be aware of the mistakes
That almost everybody makes
Is all the skill and guile it takes
To be a gossiper, and not a gossipee.

The Shipwreckers

THE SHIPWRICKERS:

The passengers don't feel okay with the rider,
As the journey don't seem so right.
Some are feeling very worried,
As it's been bad from the genesis of this lap,
Straight down with so many emphasis,
Due to what's going on there in the ship.
Wise men are rejected jointly with their ideas,
Good men are lambasted anytime they appear.
Their compasses and maps are not reasonably revered,
By the shipwreckers who don't see their value,
And the common passengers are enduring the agony,

The solutions are laid askew.
The chief rider and his team are on the balcony,
Refreshing themselves with larceny.
The ship is wrecking gradually,
And the lives of the passengers don't matters them,
Since they can join a different ship with their households;
At anytime, anyday with just the ink of a pen.
Their accounts are corruptibly bankrolled,
So they care not if the passengers are marooned.
Affirmatively, this chronicle is not assumed,
But a reality that is rightfully presumed.

Nigerian Libraries of Yesterday

Repositories of The British-Donated:
Of texts like bombs detonated;
Books from their libraries discharged;
The-Given-Out, not a dime charged …

A Harvest of The Happily Released
Because of The New that must be increased;
Books that have lost The Right to Remain There,
Better reasonably dumped elsewhere
Between The Hard paper Back
Like strong keys to hack
And The Partly Fragile of Skin
Whose sight sometimes win …

Books freely circulating British Philosophy
But equally peddling America’s Theosophy;
A growth presumed from Her Majesty’s Concern
For our Intellectual Darkness times ten!

Also, a reply to the worries of her users
Wanting to occupy seats sort of useless.

Premium MemberBreathe, Exhale, Unload

They march together down the road,
one straggler at the back.
It seems to me her pace has slowed;
at least she has her pack.

The others walk around the mud;
she goes through each pot hole.
She’s down on all fours with a thud,
and now she’s on patrol.

There’s always adventure, to be sure,
on Huskey Mountain Road.
Whatever may ail, this is the cure;
just breathe, exhale, unload.

They tiptoe 'round the puddles there;
she jumps in with both feet.
They are all reasonably dry;
her soaking is complete.

They’re on the gravel, right on top;
she’s walking in the ditch.
They make good time; they rarely stop.
Her progress is a stitch.

There’s always adventure, to be sure,
on Huskey Mountain Road.
Whatever may ail, this is the cure;
just breathe, exhale, unload.

Without a care, my precious girl
embraces dirt and grime.
Oblivious, in her own world,
she’s having a great time.

We’ve simply learned to shrug and grin,
to bring a change of clothes,
and when she gets back home again,
she’ll likely need the hose.

There’s always adventure, to be sure,
on Huskey Mountain Road.
Whatever may ail, this is the cure;
just breathe, exhale, unload.

Premium MemberA Comforting Thought

A comforting thought
      He's so normal (Sigh)

    He wakes up early
      Starts his day punctually

    Eats and drinks reasonably
      Chews his food thoroughly

    Calls his parents daily
      Texts his siblings regularly

    Speaks to folks politely
      'Specially the children and me

    Whatever did I do
      to deserve a man so true

    A comforting thought ~
      Perhaps I'm normal too
