Went to school, got good grades
a decent lawyer, I made
Met a girl, saved some dough
She was my bride, I her beaux
Three little girls nearly broke the bank
retirement loomed
Was anything left in the tank
A king’s ransom we’d spent
What had it all meant
The forced smiles, the countless deceptions
~ Was any of it worth a single damn cent

What is the gift in your life
Is it your husband or wife
Is it your children, your lover, your pet
The notion of someone you haven’t met yet
Is it the door that you shut on the havoc
The sanctity of your four walls
Relaxing with something with lemon and ice
The chatter when family calls
What is the essence of life
Is it the joy or the strife
Is it the gift of another new day
Is it the moonlight that wipes it away
Is it the senses that most take for granted
Til veils are pulled over your eyes
The joy of the breath that means you escaped death
And you realise your life is a prize
What is the price of a life
When it dwells on the edge of a knife
Is it dollars or cents as it sits on the fence
Before it stands firm or repents
Is it a penny ignored by the many
A glint to the partially blind
When shots overhead leave passers-by dead
As I kneel to see what I may find
So what is the value of life
When gangland reprisals are rife
And witnesses number not many
But my life was saved by a penny
So is this the value of life
Not a bargain store bear nor a Steiff
A penny: A low value find
But a glint to the partially blind

The phrophets have ordered disdained execution of phrophecy
A cleansing
Chaos to order
Death and birth
One in the same
Crinkling elder writings
Static in sound
In vibration
The center
In the eye that weaves
At the edge
On one leg
Teetering
Balance of none
A storm
In the midst
Winds of change
Heavy
Shivering and teetering
Wobbling and shaking
The weave
Such a fine
Slippery line
Yet
Perfectly
Symmetrical
All around
Infinite loops
Within
One
As a whole
More intelligent than the rest
The others
The eye
The space
Within the commotion

They were wasting the hostages,
This deftly handling in stages;
Thirty minutes another one slew,
Nor bothered they would soon be few...
For the beauty of Twelve Million;
They're not asking for A Trillion.
Twelve fine girls,nine boys handsome
And only Eight left for ransom
Captor tells captives "I love you!
Just that parents do not facts chew;
Like I do kola and bitter pill...
For delays, impatient guns kill..."
Isn't it too hard to swallow:
What we'd do to in wealth wallow?

Nigerians are on the run
Refugees in search of Asylum
No more sweetness in their fatherland
Their dreams have crumbled
The giant of Africa is in shambles
With hope of her youth buried under the rubbles of
Man made insurgency
Banditry and insane killings
Evil holds sway everywhere
While goodness scamper to safety
Succor for the needy
Has been looted by the greedy
Kidnapping has been legalized
As perpetrators haggle ransom
With constituted authorities
Like in the open market
While security forces stand aloof
Awaiting their share of the pie
Armaggeddon is surely here

God’s Word is a mirror, strong proof,
a basic, factual tool which can typify mankind.
Archaic illustration from this book…
abduction, untruths, conniving and killing.
Individual, loyal to God for a long span
abruptly drops control, turning corrupt.
King David was that man with a mind for God
How did such disloyalty occur?
First a craving for that which was not his own
having way too much; lust commands sway.
Adultery runs to duplicity
Fornication functions
as assassination’s aid.
Words unmask a king’s guilt, Nathan’s symbolism.
Most important, words also log the king's sorrow -
“My sin is against you, my Lord.”
David is pining for pardon; his ransom awaits.
David owns up to truth;
his body, spirit and soul worn out,
his rapport with God brought back
always mindful of its implications.

God was making provisions for a Messiah.
The Father’s plan had already been laid.
And only His Son could cancel our debt.
There was a ransom to be paid.
God sent Jesus for those who live today,
as well as for those who came before.
The selfless, loving gift Christ offered
succeeded in opening a heavenly door.
Jesus was the sinless and blameless One
who never fell prey to Satan’s attack.
He loved us enough to die for us.
The least we can do is to love Him back.
He willingly took on our transgressions.
He readily paid the immeasurable cost.
He bravely accepted His mission in life
to ransom the souls of the lost.

Quiescent body but a flying mind
Crave the peak, alas feet paralyzed
Damned days darker than night
Scratch my soul sharper than knives
Burning from inside, outside only ice
Wrathful wounds with sanguinary eyes
Besieged with a legion of harms
But who fights with fragmented arms?
Crestfallen eagles surrendered to the wind
Cannot soar with broken wings
Here nightingales hunt, eagles sing
The frozen root of life tree
Hopelessly dreaming of spring
Shadow resides on the throne
Wolves dance while sheep mourn
Even Legendary dragons live in vain
So cruelly are chained with pain
Someday, not late not soon
"Hey, brother, guess we are rescued."
Night runs, day comes, sun shines
But no eye, for darkness has made us all blind.
