Eat fruits of toil and sweat only thy own,
Quote no quotes often chewed, void of flavour,
No garden goes green, not by hard toil grown.
Be it an insight, brainwave as never,
One’s own muse is most inspiring maid known.
For long man, who’s forbidden fruits desired,
Goes on a wander lust such fruits to fish,
Why the Garden of Eden is admired,
Why things proscribed go for greater relish.
It is no sin to get by greats inspired
If you add your own, cook not someone’s dish.
World is the sole piece of creative art,
The rest is inspired, all of it or part.

Note: This sonnet does not follow the Pythagorean divide between the octave and sestet commonly found in sonnets, but an equal one followed by a couplet resolving the premise.
I find delight in poetry and math.
I like to follow intuition's path.
In the beginning, I pick up a scent.
In the end, no one knows what I meant.
There is more to life than meets the eye.
Nature's beauty makes us wonder why.
In math and poetry, I can explore
To find creation's essence and its core.
The symmetry found within a flower
Wields a seductive, enchanting power.
A mathematician or a poet
Makes his sacred goal to truly know it.
Fibonacci's sequence expressed in plants,
Pythagorean tuning, Gregorian chants,
Hyperbolic orbits, traced celestially
Have no need for poetic hyperbole.
Life can be a puzzle or mystery.
This poet/math student's eyes try to see.
I know less than a percent and a half,
While God, upstairs, has Him/Herself a laugh.
In poems, tears flow from my eyes like a fount -
Since you left me, an ocean is the amount -
And I would sure like to live without 'em,
But the math's not done until I count 'em.
Pull up a chair, and don’t make a move!
We’ve got something we really must prove
‘Bout sides of a right triangle, num’bring three.
You’ve somewhere to be? I won’t hear your plea!
A plus B, squared, as in the picture I drew, (A+B)^2= C^2 + 4AB/2
equals C squared plus 4 times AB over two.
Next, smartly observe that four, two divides, (A+B)^2= C^2 + 2AB
and promptly subtract 2AB from both sides. (A+B)^2–2AB= C^2+2AB-2AB
Expand A plus B, squared; and then simplify. A^2+B^2 +2AB–2AB= C^2
You’ve just used your math to well justify A^2 + B^2 = C^2
and prove what Pythagoras wisely declared -
A squared plus B squared is exactly C squared.
Zero to the thousandth power
logic on the run
Oblongata left in pieces
nothing zero-sum
Squaring the root unto itself
Euclid at the cliff
A equals B as B disappears
the quotient nondescript
Hickory Dickory’s mouse on the run
though nimble Jack gets burned
Formulas crumbling as integers balk
what’s ‘given’ mocked and spurned
Zero to the thousandth power
reason clones its fear
Classical thought—not selling or bought

I woke up then on this dream-cast plane.
Had a good life in the limelight fame.
Searched the forests and with nature found.
Some peace of mind except for the sound.
The roar of silence, my fathers' voice.
Reminding me to make the right choice.
Ghostly faces haunting the night mist.
A young couple for the first time kissed.
The sound of the gentle rain falling.
The spirit voices faintly calling.
Tired eyes watching a colored sky.
Then closing for the spirit to fly.
Life has its big bag of surprises.
For men and all of their disguises.
The Pythagorean kite flies high.
And so does the master of the sky.
Thank you, Mr. Rogers (yes, his real name!)
for rescuing me from teenage purgatory.
Perplexed teenager, lacking social lumen
pulled C's in English, D's in History -
my dreadful retrograde trajectory
projected no collegiate acumen,
in prom discussions, practically subhuman!
Then, your poetical geometry
and sleek Cartesian choreography
became my sailing ship, and I, its crewman.
Derivatives soon danced in arcs non-static.
Pythagorean proofs helped me progress,
vectors resolved problems that once would vex.
Your agile algebra of joy quadratic:
my new hypotenuse of happiness
helped me to find myself... I solved for x.

with a charcoal, as if raping

up in the hashish fumes
and floats in the space.
Holes in the thought-layer are
invisible to him. He runs
wild, celebrating impulses.
An unrefined man is
a malignant growth
from the negligence.

Lifts are lumps and lumps are lives. Libraries are filled with lynx. Who gather to read the polka dot books. In rows. In lines. Catalogued. Wow. Print in a paint is an iconic image. But can one play a trombone in a library? Well an elephant could! It would barge in. Take up residence and play. Toot toot toot. Booom books. Boom. And then the books would surely leave their shelves. Take off their many labels. And walk out. Free. That is escapism at it's finest. An hourly write is an hourly wisdom for a tome, an encyclopedia, and a thesaurus. But dictionaries are happier sunbathing. By the river bank. Wow. Libraries. Book dungeons. Breaking. Cars enter. Hoe a garden novel with a ten foot rake. How quite theatrical. Really it is. Entertainingly ethereal as well. But seated atop a weather vane is a large pickle. Giggling. The escaping books leap away. And freedom is relinquished to the angle of a triangle. Pythagorean theorem. Good. And assesses to ascertain whether they were so cute. Withington station bus link. Literature leaving. Last night I was in curious about number nine
Many articles said number nine is the perfection number
All that related with nine come back to nine
Try the multiplications of nine and see the results
Plus the two digits all will come in nine
Some say nine is "God's number" pretty much convincing
But still not catch the correlations God with nine
Seek for further they offered some calculation of pythagorean
Mind squeezing, brain stunned, black out, tipsy by nine
