Pull up a chair, and don’t make a move! We’ve got something we really must prove, ‘Bout sides of a right triangle, num’bring three. You’ve somewhere to be? I won’t hear your plea! A plus B, squared, as in the picture I drew (A+B)^2= C^2 + 4AB/2 Equals C squared plus 4 times AB over two. Next, smartly observe that four, two divides, (A+B)^2= C^2 + 2AB And promptly subtract 2AB from both sides. (A+B)^2–2AB= C^2+2AB-2AB Expand A plus B, squared; and then simplify. A^2+B^2 +2AB–2AB= C^2 You’ve just used your math to well justify A^2 + B^2 = C^2 And prove what Pythagoras wisely declared - A squared plus B squared is exactly C squared.

You guessed it, David. I was a psychology/counseling major. Had to include statistics after doing research for my Master's thesis...that was a long time ago. Appreciate your interest. Have a great evening, Sara

psychology must've been interesting. In college, I took 4 or 5 psychology classes as electives.

ah, me and math...I had the math expert in my home read this. He says your poem was fun to read. I'll take him at his word :-) PS I admire people who understand math. Once I got past Algebra II, I was lost...you can imagine how I felt taking statistics, a required course to receive my masters. Totally stressed! :-) have a great evening, Sara

Sara, here's one that kind of relates... Peas in a Pod Poetry and math - two peas in a pod. Why then do you look at me so odd? They’re both to discover and express The simple truth beneath the mess.

About a million years ago, in college, I tutored some basic probability and stats (I have a bachelor's in math). What is your degree in? A lot of my students were psychology majors.
