I wrote an email to a friend. She challenged me to an exchange of poetry (we both dabbled in writing). I was petrified, having only written a few limericks as a child, and a few poems in my adult life motivated by major life events. I started to compose an excuse, but then, decided to make it into a poem. I was hooked.
I’m glad to hear you’re back in action.
It gives me a certain satisfaction
To know that you are not in traction
Or have a wisdom tooth impaction;
And I would like to celebrate
This happy outcome of your fate
With a poem in which I could relate
Thoughts on this, judged first rate.
Unfortunate-lee -
I cannot see -
Myself writing poe-tree.
The very best that I could do
Is tell a story - one or two -
Which happen to be true.
Even the process of writing fiction
To my comfort level causes friction,
To make you read it, a dereliction,
Punishable by conviction.
So, I will not commit this crime.
I can’t even find the words to rhyme
And if I did, they’re not worth a dime.
Sorry, I cannot write a poem this time.

War
is raw
attempt
to strike
a solution
Bombs, Missiles
Nuclear payload
can kill en masse
But
can never kill
patriotic spirit
Fusion, fission
are powerful
innovations
can devastate matter
but have limitation of
Space, Intensity
Nationalist Spirit
has infinite realm
No bomb can
decimate infinity
Nationalist Spirit is
most powerful energy
much ahead of
power of electrons
First Bomb
devastated Hiroshima
but Japanese spirit
could not be killed
Japan has since risen
is more powerful
is a strong economy
Many wars
have been fought
in name of peace
but Peace is still elusive
War only creates
political, social cobwebs
difficult to unravel
mapping further war
War
is business
thriving on disputes
killings, insecurity
War is also
manufactured
like ammunition
to earn profits
Its pity
UN can't pass
a resolution
in favour of
No War
It's no good
to kill humans
then rush with
Humanitarian aid
It's senseless
to have law
for murder
when massacre
is non-punishable
Hypocrisy
has to end
before
World ends

Infertility
Is it a communicable disease?
Is it a blemish to the family?
Is it a detestable status?
Is it an inferior sort?
Is it a shameful disability?
Is it an imperfect position?
Is it a non-human prototype?
Is it a punishable crime?
Is it a reason to be isolated?
Is it a divine curse?
Is it an unholy living?
Is it an immoral sin?
Is it an incomplete existence?
Isn't it a blessing to become an adoptive parent?

What Makes Friendship
What makes distance so touchable,
What makes arm wrestling physical,
What makes fun a thing for two,
What makes tears of missing you,
What makes secrets last, insiders,
What makes smiles, to be tear-wipers,
What makes fighting, ugh, forgivable,
What makes forgiving unbearable,
What makes oops somewhat culpable,
What makes cleanup punishable,
What makes laughs, the one-legged wins,
What makes others say, "Not twins?",
What makes saying goodbye really hard,
What makes memories my field of regard.

Is science an everchanging paradigm
akin to poetry’s everchanging rhyme
interpreted by those who never write
yet keep a dark thesaurus out of sight
and so when I place paper beneath pen
I seldom rate the outcome “lose or win”.
One breakthrough gave the surgeons laughing fits
when told, “between your cutting - wash your mitts”
as poets play the game of “almost rhymes”
comparing it to misdemeanor crimes
not punishable with a failing grade
a shallow grave filled in without a spade.
As poets who doctor soul with wit
ramble on and don’t know when to quit
science will not learn the lessons taught
folded within the dust of crumpled thought.

Imagine there is no pandemic, vaccines and creation of controversy and lies
Imagine there is no wearing of masks and breathing difficulties
Imagine there are no social distancing and no people going to sleep in hunger
Imagine there are no barriers between the rich and the poor, that there is no one better than the other
Imagine standing hand in hand helping the needy as much as we enrich the wealthy
Imagine if corruption was punishable as much as stolen goods by he who does so only to buy drugs to recompense the apatite and that materialism wasn’t a song of praise and worship from those who have status
Just imagine if we all go to bed and there is no one hungry or impoverished and that the universe circulated the same for everyone
Imagine a Nation so united fighting together to stand together knowing that the Janitor deserves the same respect as the Managing Director
Imagine the value of education eliminating disadvantages, creation of thieves and desperation of people
Imagine IQ not calculated as being clever but caring and loving

They say, in the end, that family will always be there.
I have learned that this is a lie...
If for Any reason you are NOT ABLE,
Then FOREVER you cannot.
They say that family is unbreakable,
If you ever need help, they're dependable.
Family is valuable.
Family is reliable.
They say that family is where you can be comfortable.
Family Love is durable.
I have learned that Family Love is changeable.
It can be debatable.
If for Any reason you are NOT ABLE,
THEN FOREVER YOU CANNOT.
They no longer consider you valuable.
Their forgiveness is unattainable.
Their Love was not unconditional.
Their Love was not unchangeable.
Because I once was unable
I became unforgivable.
dispensable.
punishable, forgettable.
And now because of Family
It is completely un-fixable.

This year Santa Claus is trembling with fear
I will not go out until covid will disappear
No gifts to children, he is very clear
So many rules I must adhere
Setting aside his fear, he goes out
On seeing him all children shout
They gather around him and stretch their hand
Police comes and cuffs Santa's hand
It is not a nice surprise
We thought you are wise
Now Santa is in jail
Wife trying for a bail.

merry christmas
hope you dig the flowers this year
nobody talks to me anymore
i sometimes pray for something symbolic to converse with
merry christmas
the ice is falling aggressively and it hurts
fond memories of you makes me blind, deaf, and impervious
i oftentimes pray for an alternative world where my smile and conversation means something
happy new year
i am so frozen right now that i feel so warm
the effervescence of your presence uplifts ever after all these years since
i regularly pray for a vibe inspired universe where the law is love and hate is punishable by death with no appeals or exceptions
happy new year
a sudden light shines on my with a smile undefined by the modern world's standards
oh how i wish i could give you a big old southern hug and then just take a trip to our favorite beach where Charlie awaits
i always pray for survival in the form of moving on in the new normal world that we now live in
until your birthday, enjoy the holiday season
you will Always Forever be on the cusp of my mind and my heart
wishing you were here so that you could comfort me and alleviate the fullness of my fear

Dark is the night,
Darker the soul,
Fathomless depths,
Stories untold...
Vision now gone,
Reliance on touch,
Grappling for anything,
Stumbling so much...
Inner reflection,
Compounds your fear,
For years of ignorance,
Make salvation unclear.
Only the strong survive,
As seen throughout time,
Weakness your burden,
A punishable crime...
Until cleansing the soul,
Deeper you fall,
Will light again shine,
Or shall in darkness you crawl?
Choose wisely,
For chances given are few,
Consequences may vary,
But blame falls only on YOU...

Unable to get her to admit being a heretic
or committing any crime against God, she
told the truth to her inquisitors, she had
dressed as a man, to avoid detection by
enemy forces as she moved around France.
A crime apparently punishable by death in
those days. She also wore them to try avoid
being raped by her jailers after her death
sentence was passed.

The Savior And The Sound
In your delicate state of mind, upon your awakening, you were uncontrollable and had done an egregious act, punishable to the highest degree of the law, which is death and being that you are both obtuse and indigent, I will undertake your case pro bono and, per se, mediate on your behalf to the best of my abilities, whereto, I will consecrate my efforts in a reduced sentence based on an insanity plea, and after speaking with your doctors prior to our meet, I've been informed that with the continued diligence, medications and therapy sessions, you're able to control your delirium status and be of sound mind, ergo, I extend my hand to you, shake it if you agree, if not, I'll have leave of you. (hands shaking). Have yourself a good day sir, till we meet upon your summons to court.
***The obtuse and indigent delicate soul, whose awakening to control of his delirium status, free of any egregious acts saw his consecrate savior who will mediate on behalf of the sound.

No greater injustice than this:
To condemn people to death, just for tender acts of love,
While
Rewarding others, for committing barbarous acts in war! *
