The women fell upon the bodies of the dead,
clearing blindfolds for one last look upon their face.
Shot, against a carmine wall, no matter how they pled.
So now they mourn them through a veil of blackened lace.
A mother presses lips upon a virgin son;
a bride, in bloodstained white, whispers; she is to be;
a sister screams, at smoking guns, what have you done?
A Captain brushes some cigar ash from his knee.
A beast named Gavin Godzilla
Liked a girl named Priscilla.
The issue was that he was a klutz
And it drove everyone nuts.
He was an embarrassed, sorry gorilla.
He broke everything that he touched
And accidentally smutched.
He tripped on his feet
And tried to retreat
Because he felt ashamed and blushed.
Gavin came to Priscilla one day and said,
“I know I’m clumsy and have a big head
But I like you a lot.
To live without you, I cannot.
Will you please be mine?” He pled.
Priscilla was delighted and squealed a big yes
But there was a catch that she addressed.
“To help with your clumsiness” and with a snap,
She put on Gavin a ton of bubble wrap!
They still loved each other nonetheless.

I told you from the start, it’s true,
“My roller coaster, see it through!
Ride with me ‘til journey’s end,
Hand in hand, our spirits blend.”
“Get off with me,” I gently pled,
“No fear, no doubt, no words unsaid.
And you will see, in time’s own way,
A grateful heart, a brighter day.”
“Thankful you stayed, through every turn,
The highs, the lows, the lessons learned.
Hand in hand, we’ll face the light,
A bond forged strong, and shining bright.”
So many times I bled from pain
So many times I cried
So many times I almost died
And I pled, and I pled
So many times, I turned the other cheek
So many times, I was weak
So many times, justice I sought
through all the trauma, I fought
But, so many times are done
I am now rising with the sun
I am now ready for some fun
The tough days will still come,
but less crisis, from where I came from
For this life is all about love
Thyself first, then to truly share far
All will shine for miles, from star to star!

As shadows laid where none could go,
The dark sky etched fear in a scrawl,
Making hearts leap clean out of sight,
Silhouettes of danger scared all.
A gentle breeze whispered of fright,
Meanwhile, death crept with aching flow.
The silence then started to scream,
The fear shifted to my bladder,
My trousers bore a stinking stench;
The quake of shame made me sadder.
The fire of fear failed to quench;
That nightmare failed to be a dream.
To the angels my spirit pled.
The birds watched my fret from the trees;
Their silhouettes loomed in the night.
My shirt soaked in sweat’s chilling breeze.
The devil ignored my soul's plight;
He let me go when my soul fled.
Far to heaven’s gates my wings flew,
There, songs of praise the angels sang.
Fear quivered and fled from their glow,
The bell of life they softly rang.
That made me cheat death here below.
Then back to the earth my soul blew.
He lives forever in my mind,
For what he is I’m blind,
Yet when he scratches the back of his head,
My heart pled,
This mundane moment,
Was to me an important bestowment,
Because it means he exists,
And I’m no longer a fantasists.

He stood in the fire with them long ago
In the trial, in the change - I bet demons were chanting their names.
Jesus, Jesus -
They pled Jesus, Jesus
They stood in the fire, they saw the flames,
but they moved through it with no pain
Jesus, Jesus
Because of Jesus, Jesus
The Devil might try to knock me down
But I know who wears the crown

In a grove, a feud grew, no doubt,
Fruit factions were ready to shout.
Banana sought peace,
But his pleas soon would cease,
As the orange kept stirring the route.
With a temper as fiery as flame,
Orange sought to bear Banana shame.
He shouted and yelled,
While Banana rebelled,
Trying to douse the feud's flame.
But Orange was relentless and mean,
His anger turned downright obscene.
He challenged Banana,
With no sign of mana,
Creating a chaotic scene.
Banana, in a last-ditch effort, pled,
"Let's put this feud to rest," he said.
But Orange just jeered,
And sneered as he neared,
Determined to jam Banana with dread.

The Cost of a Human Life
I sat as an observer
in a state’s superior court.
First-degree murder was the charge.
Cold blooded calculated murder was the act.
One teen on a sleepover was beaten to death
from behind with an aluminum baseball bat.
The teen pled guilty and the sentence
before final plea bargaining was two years.
The mourning wail of the dead teen’s mother
rose far beyond the failing plastered court ceiling.
What is two years?
two visits to the CPA to pay taxes
twelve tire rotations
two World Series
four dental cleanings
two spring plantings
how long I have procrastinated
sweeping out the garage
twenty car washes
two work performance evaluations
for one human life.
I sat as a witness
in a state’s superior court
as part of society
guilty.

shame he used a pseudonym.
