The rustling sound of the leaves
The falling drizzle touching my face
The clouds talking in rumbles
Wonder why they are in such a haste
The pitter patter of the rain
Embracing me in its haze
The misty fog enclosing me
Maybe I am in a maze
Overwhelmed I fell on the ground
Eyes stinging, my heart in pain
The cold shower liberating me
The sky crying with me through the rain
Couldn't tell if it's been a second or an hour
Didn't know if I had driven too far
Fleeting memories all tinged sour
The only comfort was the petrichor
The clouds scattered, the rays shined
The dark unveiled a golden fine line
The birds chirping, the rainbow in sight
Maybe it's just a matter of time...

Titter Tatter Pitter Patter Happy Halloween Hal
Got his own jack-o-lantern thanks to a good pal.
What is that? Asked Sassy Sue, his current gal.
She made fun of the jack-o-lantern and his pal Hal.
Titter Tatter Pitter Patter Happy Halloween Hal
Dumped her that very day, and found a more positive gal.

I love the pitter-patter of the rain upon the glass
The soft rhythm creates memories that only dreams surpass
Cosy fireside moments while the weather beats her tune
Raptured with the thought of us being together soon
I love the sunset clouds as they warm the bluest moon
Memories of your caress as we lay on that golden sand dune
The sea, she distant murmurs, like a shell against my ear
Your tender caress takes our feelings to a new frontier
If there’s a world outside this place, my heart cannot perceive
Gazing into your eyes there's honesty, hard to believe
A depth of trust, like wings for flight, you take me high into the night
Into spell bound images of desire you are my guiding light

Hear the soft pitter patter dancing off the roof?
A cleansing rain plummets the drain, offering
up its truth..
It sloshes streets and people's feet as it
clears the atmosphere.
Umbrellas swoosh, windshield wipers whoosh,
and life is slower here..

Pitter Patter, pitter patter, pitter patter; I heard the sound of tiny feet
I turned around only to see the biggest spider you ever want to meet
If things couldn't be worse than to meet a spider that was that grand
With three pairs of gaited shoes and a black walking stick in his hand
I really don't want to trouble you Sir, but I seem to have lost my way
I have a good friend General Beatle, he's asked me to come and stay
He sent me a letter with his address; but I seem to have gone astray
On seeing the letter, I pointed South, then sent the spider on his way
Never in my life have I seen such a spider that stood over six feet tall
Who is off to visit General Beatle; down yonder, at the Fox Manor Hall
I found a bench where I sat awhile, whilst digesting this very thought
Then ran to the nearest public house, where a large whiskey I sought
When again did I not hear the sound of pitter patter of some tiny feet
With arms wide open; General Beatle and that spider did on me greet
Now, all of you may think, that this story is rather more than strange
But, when you are just an ant, I am far from thought of, as deranged

Elvis was the guy who made my heart go pitter pat.
I wanted him to dump Ann Margaret and her cat.
With his dark blue black hair and eyes that saw you true.
I wanted Elvis to discover me, and love me through and through.
Of course I was old enough to realize it was not going to be.
But still I had my dreams, and my swinging fantasy.
I watched his movies and felt he was singing straight to me.
He was such a marvelous man, a terrific celebrity.
I saw his army photos and I swooned, because it is what you do.
He was pretty in black and white, and color, through and through.
Elvis was good at everything- singing, dancing -the king if you ask me.
His voice still makes my heart go pitter pat you see.

Watching the misty rain
Falling on the eucalyptus gum leaves
The Galahs are squawking
While I sit in my chair and deep breath
The whistling sounds of a variety of birds
Puddles forming on the ground
Beyond the bird noises
There is no other sound
The Pitter-patter of misty rain
Watching the flow of the river
Is no strain
Life ‘s simplicity at its best
Life in the country
Is where I feel blessed.

Pitter patter raindrops are slapping
The windows pelting at the glass
Like chipped bone hacked and splintered
Wind whipped and catapulted
The wood of the house dulls the sound
But the glass twinpained amplifies
The droplets Pitter Patter, Patter,Pitter
An unnatural sound to disturb sleep

I once met a Spanish high flyer
She wiggled and danced on a wire
Her pitter once pattered
Grew ninety pounds fatter
And now she sings bass in a choir.

Staring out the window while the thunder and lightning clatter,
While the rain goes pitter patter, pitter patter.
Trying to gather my thoughts, but they just seem to scatter,
While the rain goes pitter patter, pitter patter.
Thinking of growing older and getting fatter,
While the rain goes pitter patter, pitter patter.
Sometimes people talking to me seems like nerve wracking chatter,
While the rain goes pitter patter, pitter patter.
Hoping things I do in this life will matter,
While the rain goes pitter patter, pitter patter.
Wanting to be proactive instead of reactive though I often do the latter,
While the rain goes pitter patter, pitter patter.
Having dreams so delicate they often shatter,
While the rain goes pitter patter, pitter patter.

The Pitter-Patter of Rain
I sit here on the porch listening,
Watching the rain in the night.
Pitter-patter on my roof,
I thought about all I have gained,
Over all these years of life,
As all I have lost and gone,
As if water washed it all away,
Oh maybe it was all the people,
And the circumstance that did,
Never to be found,
retrieved nor replaced again,
The only thing to mend my heart,
To fill the emptiness within me,
Is Jesus as He had promised,
As the rain kept falling into the night,
as tears from my heart for you,
As I was comforted by the pitter-patter,
As the footsteps returning,
faces to see again,
Words left unspoken,
now are able to be said
In this life there is only once chance,
To fully make it right,
- Resolution and completion -
Only you know when it can happen,
A presence in life suddenly washed away,
Only to return in dreams,
When my eyes have shut….
To the pitter-patter of rain,
Falling in the night.

Pitter patter, tiny taps of rainfall
plays ping pong on my panes.
Droplets pecking kisses on glass,
leaving half-drop spot remains.
Another pitter, another patter, and
droplet size makes gains.
Until the drops, too big to stick
run down the glass as veins.
Tiny snakes of tears shed, wiggling down
in shiny streaks and lanes.
Thanks to pitter patter, gluttony and drips,
my pane is cleared of dust and stains.
The lovely pitter patter of rain, on panes,
has cleared my aches and pains.
